i dont recommend a hydra in 1k points. its like taking a EOTG in 1k points. your opponent has a slim chance of having anything to deal with it, and its not fun to have 1 model dominate the entire game.

but if you dont like your friends, give 'r hell.

Drop the Hydra entirely, and add some command models to your units of Spear Warriors and Cold One Knights.

While I wouldn't forsake the Hydra completely at 1K, it definitely feels more appropriate at games played at or above 1,500 points.

K then I'll give this a try unless there is another unit I can use instead of the 2nd Warrior unit but fills the same other simular role?

you could try corsairs, but for the points the warrior units are a bargain to begin with so i think youd be hard pressed to do better.

Yeah I love the look and idea of Corsairs and every time I think to add them I'm like 10 points isn't much then I think about how much they will cost all up and what they get, it makes me sad

I say put the hydra back. It's one of the best units in the game, i dont know why you wouldnt take one just to not hurt your opponents feelings.

I say put the hydra back. It's one of the best units in the game, i dont know why you wouldnt take one just to not hurt your opponents feelings.Because at 1K the Hydra will win the game for you which A) doesn't let you exercise much in the way of strategic acumen and B) doesn't make for an enjoyable, competitive game.

You can certainly bring a Hydra at 1K, but you should also advertise that fact before the battle is joined. Even then, the potential is there to start an arms race of cheese and jackassery that no one benefits from.
