Having started painting again just before xmas after an 8 year break, I finally have something I'm happy to post... this is a prelude (warm up?) to TOFP where Grollg's Waaggh will come into being. So first, a troll:

basing not done yet, I'll post more later. And a big :) thankyou :) to all the inspirational logs here that got me painting again.

Next up, a spear chukka crew, these are the latest things I've painted, again need basing and, obviously, a chukka (in progress). I'm really not happy with the red on the 3rd crew member, but otherwise think these are reasonable - crit welcome (be mean!)

Not much to add other than they look really good! Great highlights. the troll's belly and scales could use a highlight other than that i think its great!

Lookin' great so far. Always nice to see more O&G plogs up here. Always a great source of inspiration to get those creative juices flowing.

Hey, these guys look great! The skintone on the troll is beautiful, mind giving me the recipe? Warseer is a great source of inspiration, that's why I started up my O&G log too.

Nice sneek peak for the TOFP, I like the Troll, especially his sexy backside. :p
I wouldn't worry about the red seems pretty good to me, as does the leather cap.
Good luck with the tale.

nicely done mate, especially considering you just had an 8-year break!

I (unfortunately) have to agree with you on the red on the last goblin crewmember though... it pulls away too much attention from the rest of the model. May I suggest you make that red brown, or at least give it a couple of red washes to tone down the brightness?

Good start, hope you keep going, because I know from experience that painting an Orc & Goblin army is no easy task.

Agree with everything said :)
Very nice stuff. The skull hanging from the troll's lip could use a brown wash maybe, just to dull it down a bit. Dont know if that's just the flash washing it out though...

Thanks for the feedback :)
@Dakkapantz: Troll was Orkhide Shade over black spray, washed Thraka green then highlighted with several layers of Orkhide mixed with (increasing amounts of) bleached bone, finished with another, watered down, green wash.
@Nordic: yeah, the final wash on the yellowish areas was too heavy, might give that another highlight.
@Razer: no flash, that was actually sunlight (in wales!), it could do with another mud wash.

More pics later...

Nice warm up and I'm looking forward to seeing your greenies in the Tale.

Good luck! :)

Ok the troll's based, with garnish, did another highlight on the yellower parts but the light's not so good for pics today so it doesn't show as well. Started on a chukka base, the theme is going to be a ruined/overgrown town the waagh is passing through (probably having done the ruining bit themselves previously). Need to work up some fluff...

I love the base on the troll. It almost looks swampy, which is cool too. What direction are you planning on taking this army? Is it going to be all goblin, orcs and goblins...?

Progress... and anticipation of the first month of TOFP...

First up the based chukka,

http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad73/t_duck_bucket/ChukkaComp1.jpg

http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad73/t_duck_bucket/ChukkaComp2.jpg

Then a test boy for the first months painting -was mainly for skin tone, which I'm happy with, the shield needs redoing

http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad73/t_duck_bucket/TestBoy1.jpg

Everything I've painted so far... the boyz and gobbos were practice, 'remembering' the basics, the boar chariot doesn't bare a close up (I screwed up the fur on the boars). The waagh is going to be common orc/goblin focused, at least for the first 2000 points, built around several big boyz units, I'm working on fluff...

Finally this time, a wip banner to replace the one on the existing boyz unit (hints at the army theme), I've not done free hand before, this may take a while...

And the first month of tofp waiting for next week (30 boyz, full cmd):

...and the Waagh is on. Actually, it never went away, just the camera and painting schedule. More of a teaser here, later a wrap up of what's now about 1500 points of painted orciness...

The trolls:

http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad73/t_duck_bucket/trolls_1.jpg

I reckon these are my current mvp, always played as common, I was happy with how easy they were to reposition so that each is unique - although I wouldn't like to try doing it for a horde. 3 of these were painted 18 months ++ ago, the other were finished last week, I think despite messing up my base colours they look consistent.

Goblin hero's:

http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad73/t_duck_bucket/gob_bosses.jpg

I painted this just after 8th came out as gw bosses, haven't really used them but I think with cheaper gobbos and the slittas they'll be viable alongside my orc boyz.

Blorc's again:

http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad73/t_duck_bucket/blorcs_4.jpg

I have 30 of these, almost based, full unit next post.

Bosses:

http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad73/t_duck_bucket/wip_boss.jpg

These along with 8 boyz are my current paint job, the boyz are the last to complete 2 units of 30.

Looking great! I really like the trolls swampyness both in skin tone and on the bases!

Very cool stuff. Good to know the trolls are easy to reposition, the 6 you've done look great!

Very nice work all round here. I especially like how you painted and did the bases of your unit of trolls.

I like the green on green scheme of the trolls, makes them look very earthy and natural while still standing out a good amount.

Wow those Trolls look great! Most converted Stone Trolls I've probably ever seen.

Thanks for the comments! Next, finished black orcs. These I speed painted, I wanted to field them but had too much plastic/undercoat on the table already so I forced myself to paint them before they got into combat - which I kind of achieved, just the basing got delayed. Anyway, they're all done now, at least to a playable standard:

http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad73/t_duck_bucket/blorc_unit3.jpg

http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad73/t_duck_bucket/blorc_unit2.jpg

http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad73/t_duck_bucket/blorc_unit1.jpg

I think I overdid the green on the movement tray, might scrape some off...

Those trolls are impressive! I like the reposing you did, very cool. What is the recipes for the green on the bellies?

Bravey

t_duck

Slow reply... really need to take some photos... @bravey the bellies are base coated gretchin green, washed thraka, then highlighted between gretchin and sunburst yellow, with another wash at the end.

And current wip:
