What are the most popular armies? For Ancients I'd guess Romans, Gauls, Successors, Cartheginians, Alexandrian and Persian?

If I had to guess, I'd say high elves and undead.

I think I have played more Empire armies than any other... I have had several regular empire opponents over the years but had a good mix of all the other armies. I can understand the appeal seeing as they are some of the nicest warmaster figures and possibly the best looking completed army there is!

Araby is the one army none of us are interested in, but their rule set / stengths seem viable enough. If you like 'em, pick 'em up. rarely are they on ebay, however, so expect to drop about $200 for an army (which isn't bad compared to SnoreHammer 40K.

I'm just now painting up my Araby army for the Warmaster painting challenge on the Specialist Games site. IMO their strengths are the ability to have as many knights as you can afford, and the magic carpets, plus reasonable magic and character mount options.

The other cavalry (camel riders, desert riders) is ok, but the special rules does not make them better than knights.

Infantry is weak, like most lists. No war machines is a bit of a drawback.

The elephants, I'm not sure about, yet...

On the whole, looks like you could make a hard hitting, fast moving list, with an infantry anchor keeping the break point intact.

A Genie in a unit of magic carpets could pump out 8 shots. That sticks out for me.
