So I was wondering if anyone has had any luck using Vampire Skeleton models for their Tomb Kings. I was thinking with minimal effort it may look pretty good, just get the bits for bow arms and quivers, and/or use TK shields.

If anyone has done this or seen it, please share the pics!

I would like to reverse that and do TK for VC, sick of the price gouging on VC skeletons.

I've been using them interchangeably (without converting anything) for years. No one has ever cared.

Someone just started an army like that, look in the Fantasy Army Diaries forum.

It would be fine. A skeleton is a skeleton, afterall. There certianly wouldn't be any confusion as to what they are.

22$ for 10 (VC) 2.20$ per model
35$ for 16 (TK) 2.19$ per model

Haha, as soon as someone sees the newer 10 model sets they assume it is price gouging. I for one have no problem with the $22 infantry boxes as they provide a lot more extra bits then the older ones ever did. Plus it is easier to get the exact model count you need with 10 man boxes.

Anyways, sorry for the off topic rant. I would see no problem using the VC skellies in a TK army. Personally I would just do some weapon modifications and shield swaps and call it a day. The newer skeletons look much better IMO and this would produce a better looking army overall.

I guess my question was unclear.

I was wondering if anyone had used VC skeleton models, with things like the TK shields and/or bows to create a more updated look for TK.

Here are some of mine, as well as some Tomb Guard. I much prefer the slimmer, smaller Vampires to the chunky, meat fisted Tomb Kings. And the conversion work is minimal.

Normally I buy models online or through other sources, and TK skellies are normally quite a bit cheaper by the sprue than VC. Although I must admit I like the VC models.

I have started building my army using the VC skellies and they do work if done right.

Fair enough, but unless you are getting a different discount for each box it still works out to be a $0.01 difference as they are both scaled by the same amount. Granted you should be able to find the TK ones second hand on eBay much cheaper than the VC ones, which may be what you are getting at. Personally I wouldn't mind paying slightly more and putting in the conversion time if I was thinking of doing a TK army.

Very sexy looking models you have there Grimgorironhide. I would love to see an entire army done to that standard.

As of yet I haven't, but I plan to do an army of the cairns themed TK army and was definitely going to use the VC skellies and grave guard models for it.
