STATISTICS

Category Dragon Ancient

Models 59 67
Wounds 78 80
Casting 2 6
Dispelling 3+2scrolls 4+4scrolls
Shooting 28 28

The dragon list will be able to eliminate key threats quickly however is much more venurable to magic. The dragon also packs a big punch with the lord on top. It also has three big point sinks which I could protect to get a draw if I want to play like that

Any thoughts on choices or which list is stronger would be great. Im not expecting to come first (doesnt mean I wont try) from what Ive heard about daemons but id like to be competitive and try to give people a run for their money.

I've only read the second list, but I can see no apparent flaws. I'd trade 1 scroll for the calaingor stave to aid treesurfing. 3 bound and 3 x 2d6 castings should get some trees moving.

i dot think eithers overly effective. Anything on a horse is a waste and i would add some scouts or WW for mobility and more shooting.

Good point on the staff. Will change that

Dark14 why do you think anything on a horse is a waste of time?

call me crazy, but i would drop the wild riders for some normal riders in both lists, you really only want your cavalry to try and hold the flanks whilst all you forest spirit stuff runs through the middle.

Personally i would side with the acient list, there more reliable and not as fragile as the dragon.

ancient, the dragon needs a combat character to be efficient and WE cant really make a good combat character besides the ancient.

On the other hand double trees with BSB is still efficient although not as powerful as it used to be.

i like the dragon list. your army will be fast and with the dragon it can be really fast.

Ancient led. It's less original, but I realized on my last WE games(before quitting them) that a strong Treesinging phase is one of the keys to victory for Asrai. Sing your free forest in the face of the opponent line, cutting it on two. Attack one half and block the other half, and you will win.

I like that tactic innerwolf. Hadnt thought of that tactic before. How successful has it been for you?

I tended to draw them in, surround and then multi charge from multi directions.

Well, on the most serious game, against my friend's powerful Vampire Counts( which I usually drew with or worst) I got a solid victory thanks to that tactic.

I can search for a more detailed battle report if you want.

If youve got a battle report already typed up thatd be great. Good to see how it worked.

Looks like Ancient led is winning the poll pretty convincingly (10:5) so im thinking thats what ill go with. Ive been playing 2k ancient led without the second treeman or BSB so am probably more familiar with how it works than chucking in my dragon which has been sitting in its box for years.

Any more comments on the ancient list? how it can be improved/changed?
