What are your experiances with playing specialist games in store?

Im not talking about how popular they are, but how easy it is to play them if you have people willing to play them. Our local store makes it very hard for us to play any specialist games for fear of it hampering their profits.

Not to say that we never get to play them, just that if we want to play them say, more than once every fortnight we are usually just flat out told no.

I must say its making us want to start our own little group at one of our houses, because we all really enjoy mordheim.

Is it the same everywhere?

I always see stories of how big of dicks the red shirts can be, never my experience. But at my LGS, we can play any GW games they don't care. 2 of them play Blood Bowl and BFG on a regular basis with everyone.

nice, but you have to consider from where are this reports of bad redshirt policies. For instance, i think it would be nice for a store to have a "rental army" as for gamers form different countries that would go to the store (for sure when i went to spain i would love to have some games, but my army was in Chile).

As for specialist games i think it depends if the guys play the games or not. If they don't, they probably won't want you playing the game, as they probably would be asked for answering rules questions that they don't know... just a guess

We have "veterans night" on wednesdays and are allowed to play then. This was allowed a bit after FLGS was forced to close it's game area due to rent price jump (I think it doubled or tripled in one swoop).

The store here has about a dozen blood bowl players and a full blown dedicated leauge up and running. all the oter games usually have at least 2-5 players who are "regulars" but hardly ever bring their armys. gangs, ships, boards, ect. Heck, Ive even played a few space hulk games! Of course thats what you get for being at a bunker, but I digress.

EDIT: now we have another BB leauge? maybe we have more players here than I thought o_O

General rule seems to be "Only on vets nights"
