View Full Version : My Blacky, Blue-y, Green-y, Brown-y, empire stuff

10-08-2009, 11:46
Well i've just started a new empire army. I did of warriors of chaos for a bit and fancied something a little different. It's going to be strange to have a shooting phase.

So without further ado:
Swordsman Champion:

Swordsmen: ( some still WIP )

Hopefully shields will be finished today :)

They're pretty awesome. I saw your other post on WE and these are a pretty damn high standard for rank and file. I'll keep my eye on this.

Good job dude.

Love the colours you have picked for them, nice bright Blue! and theyve been painted nicely aswell :)

I agree :)

Here's the first 5 done except for writitng on the cloth on the shield. Not sure how much i should put on really . . . ^o)

Dejay, cheers mate! You didn't comment though didya? Huh? HUH? ;)

Eltanko, there should be some handgunners coming up soon. Hopefully they'll be quicker to paint because no shields.

Thanks Elfboy! :)

I'd probably do 3-4 lines on it, anymore and it would look crowded IMO.

And yes I did reply, i use a different forum name on there :)

Looking good. Are you having them from any particular part of the Empire?

13-08-2009, 01:22
Right, here's my progress for today:
Thats the turquoise and metal done on 5 handgunners. In theory, they should be finished quite quickly.

Here's a link to the campaign that me and my friend are going to be playing. If anyone could give any ideas for scenarios, then post here please!!!

I think i should be able to finish the handgunners either before or on saturday, but then again this is me.

Dejay, oh cheers mate! What is your name on that one?
I think i am going to have to practice the writing on something else before i mess the model up. Would be a shame to knacker it up now.

Crube, they are part of a campaign me and my friend are fighting.
The name of the town they are supposed to be from is Sturmhelden. I don't know where it is on the map. Any thoughts? It'd have to be fairly close to a river / coast due to the campaign.

pretty good, but I'm sorry, I had to say it, the first one looks like hitler with a scar...

13-08-2009, 13:00
i just love the color sceme, keep up the good work.

13-08-2009, 15:55
That's a nice and unusual color scheme, I like it. Very striking.
I saw you signed up for the ToFP, very good mate. :)
Have a look at the Empire Support Group (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=209729), if you have a question even remotely related to the tale.
The one with how to paint the writing on the cloth would be one imho. Unfortunately I don't have an answer to this particular one. :(
Anyhoo, keep up the good work.

YankinDeez ;)

I'm liking the first rank, they're looking awesome. It's pretty amazing how crisp and straight you keep the edges of colour on the shield.

How do you do your browns? It's a colour I can't really get to look nice, and your's is pretty good.

13-08-2009, 17:56
Did you paint the swordsmen without the heads and arms too?

14-08-2009, 01:37
Managed to do most of the grey, maincoated the brown, half the skin and the metal on all the handgunners.
The 1/4'ing still needs to be cleaned up but theres not all that much left to do.

Chaos0xomega, can't be Hitler. My swordsmens moustache is MUCH more manly! :D

Gamershell, cheers mate! Hopefully i don't burn myself out painting 100's of troops though.

Thanks Gargobot, i think i'll post a pic in there once i have the writing done. I don't think it will be too hard. Just need to do a test run first.

Dejay, ah i seee. I will try and keep a lookout for you then! :)
The shields probably take the longest of any part of the model for these.
The brown i did on these is just Scorched Brown and then go over the non-shadow areas with Bestial Brown. On the elite units i'd probably edge it or layer it again but i don't know off the top of my head what i'd use. Another alternative is Scorched Brown and then Dark Flesh. You can edge that with terracotta if you can find it. It's what i did on my khorne warriors.

Elfboy, yeah i did. i tend to stick things into blue tac on a cork so that i don;t have to hold the damn things. Especially when washing etc.

15-08-2009, 14:53
5 Handgunners finished.
I think the one on the left is a bit speshul. :)

Next group i think will be 5 spearmen

15-08-2009, 18:20
Those look fantastic mate, what you doing with the bases?

21-08-2009, 17:54
Here's a small update: ( 5 spearmen )
So the metal is done, skin is 1/2 done, and the turquoise is done on the torso's. Just needs touching up on the shields and arms.

These will probably take me a while, girlfriend came back from spain tuesday so i haven't had much time for painting . . .
Also, read a book on the battle of agincourt which was quite interesting.

Cheers Dejay, i think i'll probably just do it dirt with some static grass. ( not sure what colour though )

12-09-2009, 22:33
Hellooo again,
Nearly done the spearmen now.

Just the shields and bases to finish but i don't know how i want to stick the shields onto them given that they're holding the spear with one hand it looks a bit odd as the swordsmen hold the shield with their left arm. Ideas:
Shields on Forearm / Elbow

Shields on back:

Any ideas?

12-09-2009, 23:52
I really like that light blue colour. Nice clean, bold painting.

Can't wait to see some characters!

13-09-2009, 14:32
Interesting and original colour scheme. Looking forword to see more.

Deff Dread red Edition
13-09-2009, 14:56
Really nice scheme can't wait to see this progress. As for the shields,I like the way they look stuck to the back.Kepp up the good work and give us an update soon!

16-09-2009, 15:45
Just a small nitpick.. Those "pouches" on your handgunners are for Crossbow Quarrels..

Nitpick but otherwise nice colours.. =)

How will you base them ?

23-09-2009, 13:53
Finally finished the Spearmen:

Also me and my friends had some games of blood bowl on the weekend which was nice :) ( From Left: Ollie, Chris, Me, Danny )

Bob_the_Small, first char will likely be a warrior priest.

Krzyek, cheers mate!

Deff Dread, sorry it took so long :)

Nkari, are they really? Ah well . . .
Am thinking of basing them just on dirt. Not sure what static grass to use. I have some slightly more realistic looking stuff which is less bright than the GW one. Will have to test methinks

Awesome painting and a colour scheme that's pleasing to look at, although I don't recognise the province!

Looks like one to watch I think.

03-11-2011, 17:55
Nice to see beer with your blood bowl games and a liverpool fc shirt I totally approve!

Also your painting is very nice!
