oh i think that is because i compressed the pic badly or something.
I will have pics up soon of my conversions on warriors where i lengthen their spine so they can take 'fex sythes and not look so stupid.

I have another update, most WIP:
The warriors that are under construction are going to have their carapaces and thigh "ribbing" brought together to make the waist look shorter (trust me it will work, i hope).
The glyphs are just for fun.

sry couldn't get the shadow out of pic, i did 8 pics to try to correct it.

I am half way with the spine conversion, they need the thighs lengthening up and that carapace sorted so it all looks natural and seamless.

Any advice?

Heh, are those Carnifex scything talons on the Warriors? Looks funky in the photo that's third from the bottom in your last post.
I also rather like your Broodlord with feeder tendrils. I'm still undecided on how I'll convert/kit out my own Broodlord to make it look and play properly.

Oh snap, the nids are running over the countrysides. :)
Good job on the green stuff, love the works. That Broodlord is my fav at the moment.

thanks for the comments, and yes the broodlord is my favorite too.

How do you subscribe though? i just bookmark.
I'll be looking on that Emperors children log.

i just realized i haven't posted my second lord up here so here it goes:

i might re-do him so he has feeder tendrils, any thoughts?

EDIT: may not be able to do an update for at least a week as i have no camera!

How do you subscribe though?
Above the first post on each page of a thread you se where it says "Thread Tools". Click on that and you get a menu. one of the options is "Subscribe to Thread".
Then you can always go to your "User CP" to see updates on your subscribed threads.

Regarding your second BroodLord... is that a giant kissing lips he's got? XD
If you can, I suggest adding some teeth on the inner wall of the mouth.
Don't get me wrong, I think the GS work is cool, but atm he looks kind of silly.

Orange1095
05-09-2009, 20:49
yes i agree but it is really difficult for me to do teeth + there is overcrowding issues. i have tried, and failed.

i would have to do loads of tiny hook-like teeth which i know i can't do.

You have very promising greenstuff skills! :)

I think the talons are a bit big but looking at alternatives they will look terrible, I like the over-compensation of the talons to. ;)

broodlords are very nice the 4-jaw one I like best nice work on repositioning and everything. I do hope you have a go at sticking some teeth in and what biomorph represents it?

Orange1095
08-09-2009, 21:51
-Fire Harte, it represents Acid maw and the teeth will be really difficult! oh and thanks about my skills, i have only been working with it for a year.

i need to get a new camera then there will be more pics. including broodlord 1 painted and based.

EDIT: i have finished conversion on broodlord 2, needs paint job, the teeth where actually quite easy i was just a bit sceptical about it.

PICS! sorry i just thought i'd need some emphasis on my update, ok 'ere we go!
I think i did a good paint job, what do you think? well its good considering there is no "skin" tone.

Solun- thanks for the image shack advice, works well as you can see!

Like the others have said the feeder tendrils on the broodlord look amazing, your much better at working with greenstuff than me:p
The Battle Wagon's coming along great, its gigantic!, can't wait to see how it turns out:)

Orange1095
18-10-2009, 22:13
it is really tall, double the width of a rhino (thus the 2 rhinos joined) and an extra half a rhino on to the length! :D

My camera is back and here it goes:
I have made a dreadnought out of the stompa's head with mini deff rolla and i have replaced the head with a cannon mount which will eventually look like a head!
On the BW i have added a spare stompa pole from my friend and made a watchtower type thing for my gretchin crew, it it pinned so it is easier to store, also all of the turret parts have been magnetized including the hatch.

Any new updates? The battlewagon and dread were coming out nicely.

13-11-2009, 14:56
you should switch those arms on the "head" dreadnaught to point down that way it can stab things and look a little like an ork mantis.

Orange1095
13-11-2009, 16:40
oh i have new pics now it does not have those pointed bits anymore, looks much better now, i hope you agree.

the battle wagon as small updates such as some better magnets and the watchtower has been improved, but it is not worth picturing yet, i need to finish the dread and stompa first before it gets glyphed up and riveted.

Thanks for the post, just saying something really makes a difference.

They're quite nice, what are you using as the stompa's head, I figured it's some houseware stuff, but couldn't quite make it up. And the roll-dread is hilarious! :D:D

anyone excited by the new 'nid codex? i am.

the stompa head is the top from a pva glue bottle.

Solun Decius

I'm liking the current ork stuff you've got going on. Lots of very orky conversions and scratchbuilds. Dredd/stompa ith deffrolla is clever and looks good.

anyone exited by the new 'nid codex? i am.
I'm actually pretty excited about it too. I've got a fair amount of genestealers already but since I never finished the full 1500 pts I think I'll buy the new codex and figure out what's cool there to fill up the rest of the army. I'm very excited about the new 'nid models too. I think I'll certainly get back to my 'nid army early next year!

LOL, I love the deff rola dread! Looks suitably orky!

The nids are looking good too! Updates? Pics?

Orange1095
15-11-2009, 15:42
the nids are not getting any cov. yet as i do not want any unusable models in my army after Jan 16.

Goat of Yuggoth
15-11-2009, 16:28
Ach, go for it! No-one's stopping you from making crazy nid stuff and using it as something else. Merged scything talons/rending claws, bizarre conversions, scratch-built models, you name it. That's what I like of Nids, they're so personal.

And they are not going to change any existing box sets, just do some new ones. I think you will be absolutely on neutral grounds if you use the existing plastic boxes and build whatever you would've three months ago (that's what I'm doing, some crazy-ass stuff)

And the Orks 're looking nice. PVA glue bottle cap, you say? Who could've guessed that :p

Orange1095
15-11-2009, 18:00
don't worry there will be crazy stuff but unlike my orks i have to think about it other wise they will look stupid. for example my multi-maw Brood lord could have gone completely wrong if i hadn't have left it for about 3 weeks before doing the teeth ect.

i appear to not have a pic of the multi-maw brood lord so i will post one with my next update.
also i am going to have a go at sculpting a gunboss for my stompa head hatch.

Orange1095
28-11-2009, 16:41
I have nearly finished the Stompa's head, needs rivets and some final touches.
Started on the gun-boss, but am not going to scratch the arms as this is my first sculpt and i do not think i can do muscle tone that well.
And a little extra done on the Dread.
My next update will be full size.

Rolla Dread looks great now!
Stompa's head is really cool too but can use more detail. Let's see how it looks after you add the rivets and stuff.
It would be cool to see a size comparison photo on the Stompa. Actually it would be cool for the dread too!

Orange1095
29-11-2009, 11:00
why would you need a size comparison for the stompa? it is box standard pretty much.

there is homogaunts in the background of the dread for reference, if that helps.

29-11-2009, 11:51
O, yeah. Alright then.

Orange1095
16-12-2009, 19:04
Ok, i lie about update size but who cares?
This is my finished grot's "nest" the grot is not glued in so i can paint it easier. hope you like it, and c&c are always welcome.

Turns out i didn't lie:
This is my first attempt at ork skin tone, any c&c welcome again.

I never thought of painting orks like that... but I guess it works... like most time consuming procedures. anyway its all looking good. cant wait to see more gubbins on that wagon.

Orange1095
23-12-2009, 12:07
I never thought of painting orks like that...

Hmm... i thought this was always the best way to paint them, only took a very small amount of time for the whole lot, if i did a whole boy i could push one out in 20-40 mins i suppose (that being without the batch painting method).

Some updates:
My stompa has it's head and arms finally(the arms are magnetized).

My warboss with minor conversions, and a unfinished ruin made from garden store plant packaging.

Hi anyone reading, just updating. I've got my new 'nid codex on order, so will be expecting it soon.
My stompa is near completion (although some things are not attached so i can paint it easier)
I have decided to strip all my painted 'nids with the new release and the fact the scheme is not flashy enough and too much work for the end product (i could do a scheme 3x as good in the same time.) So i have decided to get some inspiration from nature and in specific frogs.
These are my favorite so far, and may be similar to how the carapace is painted and maybe the exo-skeleton too.

http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/1915/poisonfrogcomplinationd.jpg

I am going to get some Orks cheap to practice my scheme on them as i have no real practical experience in painting anything other than Tyranids.

Just came across this log!
Great nids and orks
Love battlewagon/looted wagon thing
The frog scheme is a good idea if u can pull it off- it looks challenging.
Good luck painting the boyz

Orange1095
20-01-2010, 15:17
Thanks, the nid scheme looks difficult but i think i could pull it off with the right technique.

I'm thinking of using the orange one as the carapace and the rings on its legs and back on the beginnings of the tyranid's legs and arms/head. Also thinking of replicating the dotted effect on the orange and also on the red backed frog, got any suggestions?

Orange1095

Hi everybody, i have recently stripped all my tyranids using 'Nail Polish Remover' and have got my termagaunts sprayed. I have been busy and have plenty to keep me busy with, for example, my 'fex to tyrant conversion i will start soon.

81206
This is a new rhino and an old rhino that i am turning into one ork tank, the old rhino is going to be a turret for a boomgun.
81207
These are my boneswords for my tyrant guard, and a early WIP carapace for them made from warrior bodies.
81208
These are my freshly sprayed Termagaunts.

I have made further progress and I am near completion of my Deff Dread.

My Deff Dread with all its different load-outs magnetized, par one rokkit launcher. The choppy arms are very wip at the moment.

This be my first riveted plate on my Stompa, i think it is an improvement, if a tedious one.

Unless I get 3 more comments before the end of the week I will end this thread and begin one on Dakka Dakka.
