I really hate the ogryn models, and i was thinking of converting some terminator models...something like, painting them in tank camo, and making them withered and scraped, bullet holes dusty legs and all that.

Does someone know any non GW models in similar size?

I took the plastic fantasy ogres.
Took spare autocannons from the heavy weapons teams, cut out the excess barrel length and reglued the muzzle on.Attached to tthe ogre's hands, they make great ripper guns. Of course, you then end up with an even number of left and right handed ogryn. They look great and primitive. If you dont like the looks, you can always add green stuff jackets or armor bits ect.
A full unit of 6 for the cost of a single box of plastic bulls. You should have enough spare autocannons anyway.

I've heard that extra grenade launchers, perhaps with some modification, make pretty good ripper guns to use with the ogre bodies.

How about something like this -

looks about the right scale?

With some green stuff work on the face that could be a very cool conversion for ogryn.

Rackham Miniatures might be a good source of inspiration for you. Miniatures from their game AT-43 might blend well into a Guard Army:

UNA TacArms:

http://www.rackham-store.com/boutique_us/fiche_produit.cfm?ref=UNTA01&type=761&code_lg=lg_us&num=48

http://www.rackham-store.com/boutique_us/fiche_produit.cfm?ref=UNTA05&type=761&code_lg=lg_us&num=48

Those 'Shock TacArms' (The last link) are especially brutal and heavy looking.

If you want to carry on in the vein of mutated humans/abhumans, then the 'Karmans' (Space Gorillas) might be suitable as well:

If those don't suit your fancy, then with a bit of conversion work, the 'APEs' from Incursion Games could do in a pinch also:

This thread is relevant to my interests! In fact I wanted to post the very same question some days ago, too.

That Jotun (plus some conversion work) looks perfect. Shame that itīs only one stance, but the variant arms should add enough diversity.

I think there was another version on the website as well, didn't look as good though in my opinion -
