Just say you have a unit of 12 Slaaneshi Chosen (halberds and shields) with Sigvald, what result would you want to get on the EotG table for them, if facing Lizardmen or other WoC?

Despite Sigvald already being stubborn, I think I'd still take divine greatness even if it's just for the 4+ ward save.

Yeah, I was thinking that, too.

Actually, I think everyone will choose Divine Greatness.

So, if you could take any besides result 12, what would it be?

4 = +1 Strength. This gives you the option of attacking to the same effect as you'd have with the halberds, while still having a 2+ armor save to the front, making it effectively better against melee S4 and S5 than either +1T or +1AS, while additionally giving you the option of striking at S6 if need be.

Hmm... Yeah, that is good.

Also, out of +1 Armour save and +1 Toughness... The +1 Toughness doesn't actually look that good, in my opinion.

Obviously, +1 Ld would be the absolute worst.

I'd rather take the +1 toughness then the +1 armor save. You already have a great save and with T5 taking them out is going to be a nightmare.

I suppose so.

Well, when facing Saurus 6 wide with spears, with +1 AS, 1.5 die when using halberds, and with +1 T, 1.32 die.

When using HW and shield, .5 die with +1 AS, but .66 die with +1 T.

So +1 AS is superior when using HW and shield, but +1 T is better when using halberds.

I use a warshrine and the chosen with halberds I go for t+1 and str+1 and it works wonders or +1 attack and +1 str turning them into a 19 point a model ushabti

I'm mainly thinking durability results, though, since they're generally killy enough - especially with Sigvald :D

The ward save is always your best bet. Someone did a statistical analysis of your odds of getting divine greatness if you purposely modified all your rolls to things you already had, I think the odds were about 50/50 per turn (with a warshrine).

I think that was with two warshrines, favour on the champ, and Valkia.

It's a lot of resources to make a unit of M4 infantry powerful. It really isn't worth it, and it isn't even all that fun.

Once you factor in the cost of the Warshrine, they're not likely to be 19 points per model anymore.

Sorry for butting in here, but a quick question.
If a unit of MoT Chosen rolls the 12 result, do they get a 3+ Ward rather than the 4+ Ward?

As for the topic itself, obviously you want the Stubborn/Ward more than anything. +1 Strength is also useful.

Yes, they will get a 3+ Ward save.

Haha well it turns into 201 for 9 chosen 130 for warshrine and 129 for exalted with 2 hand weapons and an enchanted shield. so that is 461 points for a wrecking ball flanked preferably by chaos warriors with shields =D thats what I do anyway lol

Just pointing out that an extra toughness will almost always be better than +1 armor. They always have a 2+ armor save from the front (if you bought shields anyway) so an armor save against a strength 3 attack will be a 1 if you have the bonus or not, but it will be harder for them to wound you.

Against ranged attacks, +1 armor or +1 toughness offer the same increase in survivability statistically because virtually nothing fires strength 2 projectiles. Even so, there are a few strength 4 magic missiles that ignore armor, and again the toughness is your best bet.

The only time the armor is a better deal is if you're facing ranged poisoned attacks, or some sort of ability that increases strength based on toughness like manbane or dwarven slayer axes.

However, if they use something else like GW or Halberds...
