View Full Version : How can Daemons fight Tyranids?

If Tyranids have a 'shadow in the warp' aura that nullifies the use of the warp, how can Chaos Daemons be sustained long enough to make contact with them?

If a ritual was completed to allow the daemons to do a mass possession, that'd work fine. After all, a summoning only needs to create enough of a breach to allow them to enter, the host body allows the daemon to stay.
Other than that, if a Chaos God really, really wanted to control an area, they'd probably have enough energy themselves to force a breach to stay open, allowing the daemons to manifest. Remember, a mere mortal psyker may find it damn near impossible to do anything, but these are the Chaos Gods we're talking about. If they want daemons manifested somewhere, short of complete hexa/pentagrammic/Webway/Infinity Circuite protection, those daemons will appear, and they'll appear in force.
And if all 4 Gods decide they don't want the Tyranids controlling an area, well, it'll take a whole lot more than just the Shadow to protect those Nids.

the shadow in the warp is not comparable to the aura of a blank, it don't nullifies the warp it disturbes it. The tyranids are all lionked through the hive mind, which works at a telepathic base, the cause Whitchcraft and telepathie doesn't work in their presence is the unbelievable amount of messages which are sent wthin a tyranid army. you can't whisper while thousands are shouting around you.

I imagine that it'd be perfectly possible for Daemons to materalise around Tyranids, but the Shadow of the warp would be like a klaxon being blared in their ears. This would make it easier for the Daemon to become unstable and return to the warp or even disuade them from the effort to become manifest in the first place.

With that in mind, it could be said that battles against Tyranids are carried out by Daemons who are stronger than the regular cut, but with the distraction and effort involved in existing within the Tyranid Shadow, their full ability is stunted, making them seemingly as powerfull as Daemons of a more common calibre.

The shdow doesnt cut the warp off, evidences for this is, that psykers including hive tyrants and zonthropes use the warp to hurls blast at the enemy.

The "shadow in the warp" phenomena is like a minor warp storm, it disrupts manipulation of the warp such as astrotelepathy and warp navigation by introducing high-energy psychic "white noise" into the enviroment as the hive mind dominates the warp.

Deamonic incursions would be totally unaffected by this seeing as they only require a certain localised field of warp energy to manifest and maintain bodies from this the "shadow" actively provides.
