View Full Version : All Genestealer Troops?

I am working on a whole troop choice of Genestealers.
I have 5 units so far but im unsure how to arm the last unit. So far I have-
12- feeder, cara, ST
12- feeder, cara
12- feeder
12- plain
12- plain

Would ST, Acid Maw and Cara work for the last unit? Working close to feeders for the Ultimate Horde killng unit
What do you think?
Or is there another load-out that im missing out on?

1.) Scuttler is nice to get the troops into combat fast.
2.) It may be prudent to wait for the new Tyranid Codex confirmed for next year (probably February) to see if Genestealers stay troop choice.

I dount they will be. That leaves us with only Gaunts for Troop and thats a very limited choice. No chance of doing a vanguard or heavy wave force.

2.) It may be prudent to wait for the new Tyranid Codex confirmed for next year (probably February) to see if Genestealers stay troop choice.Yet there is no evidence saying they won't stay Troops choices. Considering they always have been Troops and the rumored codex isn't set for another six months, you can go for an all-genestealers list for now.

Glad about that. For some reason I really dont like Guants

I have become a much bigger fan of the lowly termagant.

In a tourney this weekend, 2 broods of 14 models with the W.O.N benefit stood themselves proud. They took out 2 daemon princes, a full squad of thousand sons, several plague marines and in their second last game, with the help of a shooty tyrant they dropped abaddon and 4 termies in 2 turns.

Thats very good of the dice gods to treat you that way

dont forget ATM we got 4 new species, 2 of wich could be troop choices (other 2 consisting of a trygon and another "Mini-fex")

They arnt for a while though. And they may not even be in the 1st wave

its perfectley feesible i used a al stelaer list a few weeks ago and it was all over by turn 3 but i was very lucky and i got all my reserves on the same side on turn 2. But it can work but it can be very dependant on reserve rolls.

but to be more assured on winning you will need other things in there like some tyrants and fexs to draw fire etc..

i had the opposite, i took 54 stealers 3 carnis 1 tyrant and 9 close combat bugs in a planetstrike game the other day and my opponent was so scarced of the stealers that he concentrated his firepower on them which let the big uns stroll in and claim the 3 bunkers

07-09-2009, 11:45
well the guy i was playing thought his khorne beserker army would win in combat with stealers and so focus all his shooting on other things, needless to say 4 attacks on the charge says its was a leason learnt :)

too much blood for the blood god then :D:D

Only reason I use gaunts or rippers at all is because genestealers (among others) feel so out of place with the rest of the army because of how different they look from the rest. I'm familiar with the lore and know the reasons why etc, but it's always been a pet peeve of mine to have models without helmets and models that don't fit the rest of the army.

I can understand the without helmets bit. No bear heads in my BA army.
I think the gaunts look too much like smaller versions of the big things

I would take 'stealers if the rest of my list was nidzilla, what is the rest of you list?

I would add scuttlers, outflank beasties with rending is nasty business.

Nid-Zilla. 2 Tyrants and 6 Fexes
