Does anyone have any good suggestions for painting it?

Preferrably bright metallics but sometimes dark colors being contrasted with brighter colors can work as well too.

I painted mine in P3 Brass Balls and then washed with Badab Black.

I used Shining Gold over a white primer with Leviathan Purple wash. Sounds odd but it did give the desired effect.

Leviathan purple over white primer absolutely rocks. That's what I use for my cult of Slaanesh Warmaster 10mm figures. Here's a far away pic of Slaanesh Dark Elf bowman, and even from a distance with tiny figs the color pops fairly nicely against the chainmail.

I did mine with a Bestial Brown dry brush of the armour over a black undercoat. Then I over brushed that with Shining Gold before a Devlan Mud wash. Gives them a more gritty, washed out look that I wanted. You could also try using Ogryn Flesh to wash it with either, which is what I use on my brighter gold for my Warhammer models.
