Just wondering, is there anywhere I can find some reasonably good CSM fanfiction, that has a fair bit of chopping and shooting that isn't basically "Muahahahaha! We are evil!"

Thanks for reading.

Dark Apostle is a pretty decent book about the word bearers. As is Dark Disciple its sequel.

He means written by fans not authors.

No idea where you'd find any,try the Stories and art section of this forum.

Urath has been writing some interesting World Eater stuff, find one of his posts and the link is in his sig..
Then there's the whole 'Kharn the Betrayer- What a fun guy!' stories from 4chan, which are hilarious..
MrBigMr, whom I haven't seen around here for a while, has written entire novels about Slaaneshi business..
Sholto has a website called Incunabulum which has some amazing fiction, that's where I got the 2nd quote in my sig..
Will add any more I can recall..

Two pieces that stand out to me in particular are ones that I'll try to look up, but sadly forget the names of. Both are amazing; one especially so.

The best I've read actually involved a sort of repentant Night Lord. An evil sadist? Yes, but in an intelligent way, and it has some neat twists. Just a short story, but an amazing one.

The other one that has always really stood out to me was about an Alpha Legionnaire who ascended to Daemonhood in the service of Tzeentch. It is a very introspective and strange piece (but strange in a good way).

Funny enough, the first story has only a mild amount of combat, and the second one none at all.

EDIT:Aha, found it after a quick search. Still seems awesome to me!

Just went to Incunabulum - lots of great stuff on there. But I agree, 1d4chan has shown me how great Kharn is, and how much of a dick Eldrad is.

MrBigMr's stuff was really an interesting read and some of the best fanfiction I have seen. I'd like to take a look at that Alpha Legion one that WastedWhiteBoy mentioned.

If you google "Diary of a Chaos Spacemarine" you'll get a good laugh.

I've always been a big fan of Jeff "Midwest" Arp's old Tubal-Kahn fiction, which ended up getting him a spot co-writing the original Word Bearers Index Astartes. They were, to me, a much more textured and true portrayal of the kind of egomaniacal madman that would actually lead a band of Chaos Marines, rather than the mustache-twirling punks one usually finds in both fan and BL writings. Here's a couple that I've managed to dig up from the graves of history...

Whom the Gods Kill (http://scifiemporium.xcomufo.com/W40k/fluff.htm)
The Consumption of Galaspar (http://scifiemporium.xcomufo.com/W40k/mw5.htm)
Written in the Dust (http://www.inisfail.com/kaptingavrin/written-in-the-dust.html)

There were a couple more that I remember, but they seem to have vanished from the interweebs in the decade or so since they were put out. Ah well, such is online life.

And if you're looking for humor, look no further than The Chaos Marine Battle Hymm (http://www.peteandkellie.com/wh40k/text/chaosong.txt). ;)

Just reading the title of this made me shiver. My first thought was that somewhere out there, there's a 40k version of "Artemis' Lover".

There was a chaos marine.

He got shot by a bolter.

His friends ran away.

THE END.

Could you find the Night Lord one you spoke of? Being a Night Lord player, and trying to come up with some fluff of my own I would love to give it a read.
