View Full Version : No special stuff at Games Day

Well I went to games day yesterday. I decided that there may be a small chance of being able to acquire a few bits of specialist stuff. Not much, maybe a gang here, a Rulebook there.

Absolutely nothing.

There was a cracking last man standing necro table, and the 40K scale AI again, but other than that, not a snausage.

I asked at the main retail stand if there was any specialist games, and he said it was round the other side of the sales table. The guy round that side then said he didn't know. A prompt check found nothing, but they said there was a specialist games stall that was selling stuff in the main gaming arena.

So, off I trot up there sometime later after looking at the golden demon entries (which including a cracking Nurgle/Tau BFG duel and a nice bloodbowl figure).

Nothing. I went and asked the help desk and they said it was all being sold at the main sales point. After telling them the main sales said it was up here, they shrugged.

A very dissapointing attitude towards specialist games. My hopes were up when I saw the Warmaster historical tables and stall, but nothing else. No one knew, and unfortunately no one cared.

A pity.

Can't say its a surprise. Do you have a picture of the bfg duel?

There was an oversized Aeronautica Imperialis on, the Necromunda last man standing which you mentioned, and Warhammer Historical (quite a large area for that).

Didn't see any BFG myself, Blood bowl (even though there was the game playing in a small area, but still no table top games), epic, etc....

They were selling very VERY few Specialist games things on the sales area on table side opposite the 40k one, and when I say very few I mean liturally the new BB star player, one or two BB human teams, and an Epic rulebook.

I wasn't expecting anything new, but still, a little bit would have been nice.

I picked up a codex armageddon for 1. I thought maybe a few specialist games books would have been about. But neigh.

As one of the Masterminds behind the Last man standing game - CACKROMUNDA (Named after our club Chorley and Copull Knights).

Thanks so much ArtificerArmour for saying so - Our electric jiggerey pokery burnt out half way through the day to some people disappointment and others joy!

Glad you enjoyed it!

Cheers

Not supprised in the slightest by this after all it's been a running theme of all the GD's round the world. The one GD that came close to giving us something was the German one and that only confirmed what just about all of us knew anyway.

AH! So that's what happened. As one of your neighbours, I was breathing a sigh of relief when the sound cut out. That siren could be heard from the main sales stand before they let everyone in.

Cool board though.

AA: the specialist games stuff was all in white 'Citadel miniatures' branded boxes on the corner of the sales stand where all the computer order points were. Long gone are the individual cardboard boxes for each game that made them easy to spot.

There was some other Specialist games being played in the gaming hall: Inquisitor, 2 Necromunda games, a Dambusters inspired game of standard Aeronautica. Heck our club got away with playing a pseudo Killteam/Space hulk game.

I'd love to see something new for Specialist games but I doubt that'd happen unless there was a big boost in sales at GW direct.
