View Full Version : Chaos Guard Counts as Ogryn

I'm looking for ideas for counts as models for Ogryn in a chaos guard army. The chaos marine stuff is pretty heavily armoured which really doesn't jive with an Ogryn's 5+ save. Chaos spawns don't have ripper guns though i suppose a conversion could be done. I like the Chaos Daemon models and have a daemon army already but none of the units really strike me as feeling like an ogryn. Anyone have any good ideas? I'm kind of at a loss.

just play a vraskian list, theres your ogryns right there and you get traitor guard and limited chaos marine support

If you want to go the expensive route, forgeworld makes chaos renegade ogryns. They look awesome, but they cost $$$

If I were you I would check out the fantasy range - check out ogre kingdoms and chaos beastmen... both ranges have a lot of "big guy" models that could work with a little conversion.

It also might be interesting to convert a blood bowl ogre team :)

Much cheaper than FW ogryns and reasonably "evil" looking and the model matches the ogryn rules good too.

The FW Chaos Ogryns are indeed great looking models, though they are all missing a gun. And converting or finding a fitting gun of the ogryn size is not easy.

theyre close combat ogryns, the stat line is what an ogryn should have been.....and we're not even onto the plague ogryns yet, those things are brutal

but yeah if you are using it as an ogryn and not a renegade one it comes with a ripper gun as standard, just because its not modelled on doesnt mean its not equipped with one, might not be wysiwyg but its still cool

I really don't want to mess around converting expensive forgeworld stuff, those models are cool though. The Ogre Kingdom models and also the blood bowl team could look really cool with a gun conversion. I might be able to just get ripper gun arms from regular ogryn.

i was thinking about using some warriors of chaos from WHFB as proxy ogryns. of course with suitable conversions e.g. give them some guns, wires from their melee weapons going to some backpack and what not.

i just think of the stats vs model dilemma like this:

they are smaller models so they need the extra armor to justify the t5 and w3. think of the wounds as the armor breaking down as it takes damage. the s5 is justified by the wires on the weapons *insert some kind of generic sci-fi technology here*

Use chaos spawn with mawcannons (which can be modelled with a few lasguns bundled together sticking out of its mouth or any number of other weapon types).

im gonna echo some of the others here,
either convert up some spawn, or ogres,
call them "early stage obilterators" (or some such)
they are advanced enough in infection/corruption to be insanly strong, but hey, thier armor dosent regenerate/bond to them fully yet, so 5+ save, etc etc etc

Yeah, it works for Demon engines and Obliterators, go for the half-machine half-weapon look, cables and wires everywhere and a big gun poking out the mouth or replacing an entire arm.

When I has a LatD list I used WHFB orge bulls, converted with all sorts of weird chaos bits, as big mutants. With the death of the EoT codex I'm now running a traitor guard list and using these as ogryn. They don't have ripper guns modeled on but no-one has ojected so far - in fact the only person at a disadvantage has been me ... when I've forgotten they should have guns and didn't fire them!

All I hear in my head is a thick Austrian accent going "Who is your daddy and what does he do?"

Get some of these and give each something like this (http://www.hasslefreeminiatures.co.uk/pack.php?pack=773) with them.

I'd personally just use Obliterators.
