Hi all can i have some help

I am stuck on picking a chapter icon for my SM chapter the arch knights, as all SM chapters have icons.

I have gone unorthodox on the unit insigna as they are all going to have the tactical arrow.

As my chapter is called teh Arch Knights i am aiming for a knight sort of icon

Any advice whould be great
thank you in advance

What about a stylised 'A' with a knights sword through it.

Or you could go for a two tone (red and white, blue and red etc) coloured shoulder pad (very knight and bretonnia esq) with the above in it.

I immediately thought Masons (as in Royal Arch). Something vaguely Masonic?

The circle-triangle-cross symbol might work.

The following might help to provide some inspiration:

I am also trying to find a suitable icon. I have about 3500pts painted to a reasonable standard. No icon (or chapter name) though. As I play mostly small games (my mates only have about 750 pts painted) I like to think of them as a more of a guerrilla type army. They are painted Camo green (Scouts had camouflage hanging off them) and all bases are bushland type bases. If I can work out how I'll post some pics of the Scout Snipers .. they look real good.

Do you really mean "Arch Knights" as in an arch (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arch), or do you mean an Arc as in of lightning?

Arch as in Arch on a bridge as it is original

What are your painting skills like? If you have to paint it in freehand (or cut it out of plasticard, or whatever) and you aren't an expert, then you need to keep it simple.

How about the outline of a gothic arch? It's a fairly common element in imperial buildings and shouldn't be too hard to paint or sculpt.

Are you familiar with the word archangel? Spelt arch, pronounced arc.

i think a simple but effective icon would be a shield shape as the links above show with an A displayed on it, simple but it would show what your armies about.

I was thinking about that earlyer today i might go for it as i seem to be drawn towards the Chevions or the cross with a red A in it.

I bought some decal transfer paper than you print on to and then can just use it on your model like a normal decal. I intend on just printing my icon in various sizes.

Interestingly, both my uncle and grandfather are FreeMasons.

A knight shoving a sword up Korne's butt . . . Can't get more classic than that.

You a good painter? I suggest you keep it simply if you're not.

What colour is your armour? trim, chest eagle? eyes? etc... can you post a basic picture?

Colour contrasting and complimentation (yes that is a word :p) is very tricky with a wide palette, give us some more infor and i'm sure we'd all be happy to advise!! :)

If you have a red shoulder pad then I would stick with white cross and black 'A' (or vice versa). You could maybe get away with yellow or orange but any other colour will look awful on red IMO.
