View Full Version : The Razing of Prospero,The Saga begins...

26-10-2009, 14:03
Hello guys!Following up on my Emperor's Children, this is the start of my second Pre-Heresy army, the Wolves of Russ. The army is going to be themed around the assault on Prospero and the Thousand Sons, what with the new codex and the HH books coming out in the spring. This a quick test model i put together and painted, hope you like him! :)

26-10-2009, 14:39
I like. thats a really nice colour scheme, probably one of the best I've seen for Wolves. If their anything like you EC army this should be good.

26-10-2009, 14:51
Very nice paintjob, great pose aswell.

26-10-2009, 14:53
Oh fantastic, this is certainly going to be one to watch, especially as your Emperor's Children are some of the most magnificently painted models on this here forum!

Being a Thousand Son myself, I can't say I am wholey supportive in your butchery of such innocents, but conversely I really cannot wait to see what you come up with - it will be superb I am sure, so good luck sir!

26-10-2009, 15:09
Really nice!! Lovely color scheme I really like the runes on the head any chance of getting a close up of it? or even better a tutorial :D

Anyhow i am looking forward to your work!

26-10-2009, 23:53
Ah, that's a solid choice of army following your Emperor's Children, especially with the new plastics! Very good and satisfying painting - of course we all demand a tutorial on the Pre-Heresy SW grey - and you've pulled off a very telling story in that model. Darnit, but your painting really made that certain new beakie helmet "pop" for me. Hm, I'll have to further convince one of my friends to start his planned Wolfies around soon...

I'd have added some three or so stretching drops of blood from beneath the Chaos helmet, by drilling some random holes into its underside, glue paper clips of varying length into them, streak them with Super Glue and added some 'Stuff to make it look dripping.

As for the Emperor's Childer (WD) terminator, I'll attack and transform that one once this week's tentams are over.

I have a feeling that your take on the strictly lupine parts of the Space Wolves army list (Fenrisian Wolves and Thunderwolf Cavalry - if the second even was around Pre-Heresy) will be very, very cool. :)

And don't forget the runes and pack markings!

27-10-2009, 00:07
Wow, looks very cool!! First pre heresy wolf I get to see, and I like him :)
I always liked the story of the brawl between space wolves and thousand sons.
Besides, is the armor painted with adeptus battlegrey?

Kind regards,

I've gotta say, I like these a -ton- more than your Emperor's Children.

And I was right fond of your Emperor's Children. This'a be awesome.

27-10-2009, 00:24
Looks like another great project in the making here.

27-10-2009, 00:31
Thank you all for the kind words guys.I keep saying it,but thats pretty much the best motivation anyone can get!

The pre-heresy grey is actually very simple and quick:
2 coats of adeptus battlegrey over a black undercoat.
devlan mud for shading where the armour plates meet.
2 parts water/1 part chaos black in the deepest recesses.
codex grey highlights
fortress grey fine highlights.

N0th1ng c4n b34t 3lv3s,he just took the helmet for trophy mate,we leave the skull taking for the stinking World Eaters..;) I dont know i do any thunderwolf cavalry anytime soon, the force will be mostly mechanized but i dont rule out the possibility,i really like the Canis Wolfblood model!

Tiller5,Innocence proves nothing... :D

Cheers! :)

27-10-2009, 03:51
Looks great, I like the look alot, helmet trophy is a nice touch.

27-10-2009, 05:05
great figure. the shade of grey is perfect

27-10-2009, 05:25
You sir have done incredibly well. I am looking forward to seeing this army progress. I was looking at the space wolf plastics myself thinking there were many great bits for a preheresy wolves force. I know you will do them justice, and look forward to seeing what you produce. Any idea on a force organization yet? Something similar to your emperors children perhaps, or are you going for a more combat oriented force?

28-10-2009, 16:20
Great start on the Wolves Of Fenris.
Will Be Following Closely Like Your Emperors Childrren.

01-12-2009, 23:28
Oh man!!!! Another amazing pre-heresy post!!! I just can say: The hell with you!!! Great!!!

31-12-2009, 01:29
Hello guys!

Well, not exactly a pre-heresy or Space Wolf update, but i felt like painting this guy today as an exercise in painting gore and guts (on chainswords and poor unfortunates):

Tell me what you think!I'm going back to painting Wolves and dead Sons...

Cheers! :)

31-12-2009, 01:32
Incredible! Looks like he's just seen his next victim. Just the right amount of gore to make it look brutal without going over the top.

31-12-2009, 01:35
Ditto to Emilio, that is fantastic!! stupidly impressive!

01-01-2010, 23:27
This looks awesome!!
I'm definitely missing the "I like" button ;)

02-01-2010, 02:46
Inspirering work. Gonna do my best to steal your dc marine idea and put it in my own army.

23-01-2010, 23:26
Some WIP updates, taken by a really crappy camera and including a "Wolf Guard on a stick" as a friend of mine put it... Unfotunately,me being in a hospital for a week and then spending the better part of another 2 weeks recovering really messed up my time-table for this army. Will keep adding to it as often as i can though.

Cheers! :)

24-01-2010, 00:46
lookin sweet mate love the gore marine :)

24-01-2010, 14:08
Nice start on the heresy era woves! I like the darker grey color of this time period. A promising start to your new project.

24-01-2010, 15:36

27-01-2010, 19:28

Looking great, love the lord and the double bladed axe. (just made one myself --- nice to see how it'll look painted up)

Fantastic posing on the kneeling marine, and the other wolves ain't bad either!!;)

27-01-2010, 19:52
This all looks really great!

I've never been a fan of topknots on any space marines, but that beakie marine has me rethinking that.

What shoulder guards are those on your Wolf Lord?

27-01-2010, 22:34
Heh. Getting posted on GW website for all eternity. Not bad! :p
