So does anyone know what the miners steam hammer actually looks like?

It's a steam drill, not a steam hammer.

Something like a pneumatic drill I should imagine, except dwarven and steamified.

Well it's called a steam drill but it's described as "...A small steam engine, usually alcohol-powered, is used to drive the hammer with such force..." Hence the question. :D

Alcohol is used for combustive purposes. I don't know why they would use alcohol in a steam engine unless they were using pressurized, evaporated alcohol instead of steam.

It would evaporate at a lower temperature than water so would require less heat to drive it.

Because you need heat to make steam...

Because you need heat to make steam...

Then why not just make an internal combustion alcohol engine to run the drill?

Why make an internal combustion reaction simply to heat up some steam?

This would be done so that the steam could in turn power a wheel or "generator" and make the drill/hammer move. I'd see it as a sort of pneumatic drill with a large container on the miner's back.

Because there are no internal combustion engines.

internal combustion engines are beyond dwarfs right now.. hence steam technology.

At any rate.. the Engineer posted by Festus makes as much sense as any other as the culprit...

I was gonna use this bit to Make one : http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.uk?do=Individual&code=9947059904404&orignav=300808

Add that to Burlock Damminson's body : http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.us?do=Individual&code=9947020500701&orignav=301116&ParentID=3495&GameNav=301115&ItemNav=301175

And add a GS candle and I think he'll look just nifty :)

The good news is that I somehow have 3 Burlock's and the drill bit handy so... :)

Guys... I know you aren't arguing about Warhammer Fantasy technology...

You would be wrong :)
Lots of arguements about fluff as well as rules on here :)

Some people REALLY like fluff :)

I thought the gyrocopter had a combustion engine... fluff wise its described as alchol fuelled... so...

And I am sure there are combustion engines... Blood bowl has chainsaws....

sorry... I will be quiet now

Very nice. That's right along the lines I was thinking. Thanks for the bitz numbers.

Looking sweet - I don't know about any combustion engines... I know that the Empire don't have any...

Blood Bowl is very different from Fantasy, before anyone starts...

Dwarfs run on alcohol themselves, it would sort of make sense that their machines would too.

I would picture it something like a jackhammer

i have a feeling that we'll see a model for this eventually, just not yet (maybe as a tie in with the WFB 7th Ed boxed game release)

I dunno, Dammison's body doesn't look minery enough for me. Perhaps something could be done with the flame cannon's dwarf with the welding mask and the dammison engine though.
