so.. i am planning on starting a new skaven army when i get my hands on the book... it was my first army, but i was just a kid back then, so i never got around to actually playing with them. and after a couple of years.. they were gone.. but what i really wanted to know is, can anyone tell me how expensive a 1500 point army is.... or a 2000 point army for that matter.??'

thanks for reading.

I imagine you would run somewhere around 200-350 American.

Do you mean in ? not being a skaven player, but having just read the latest white dwarf, they are going to expensive in . You need big regiments but you only get 20 clanrats for 20, stormvermin are the most expensive plastic regiment released yet (i think) at 30 for 20 models, screaming bell 35. best bet is to have themed eschin or pestilens clans (both regiment boxed sets still at 18 for 20 models). mind you, other armies are gonna cost 12 for 10 models so 20 model unit = 24, but skaven need more bodies so it'll still be expensive.

€1 = ~0.89 at the moment (noticed you're in denmark).

That's not horribly expensive, really - I think it's just sticker-shock based on not recognizing the box size.

Stormvermin - 30 for 20 models.
Comparatively:
Grave Guard - 33.30 for 20 models
Temple Guard - 33.30 for 20 models
Greatswords - 48.90 for 20 models

For their size and bling, they're price pretty equally.

Clanrats, meanwhile
Clanrats - 20 for 20 models
Skeleton Warriors - 23.50 for 20 models
Crypt Ghouls - 23.50 for 20 models
State Troops - 23.50 for 20 models

So, Clanrats are a bit cheaper than other "new" horde-potential armies.

All in all, I don't think you'll be spending too terribly much more than you used to. Moreover, you'll have a quicker time assembling your Clanrat core.

Just remember that most of your boxes give you double what you get in other new boxes ;)

Buy the battallion box - you get a lot for your money.

I think it's definitely going to cost me at least $400 USD. 2 Batallions, 2 boxes of Stormvermin, a Screaming Bell, weapon teams, poisoned wind globadiers, Doom wheels... Ugh.

His army does not have to be the optimal tournament army. The man wants to play and have fun judging by his attitude. I would say 1 Doomwheel is good enough.

He gets 2 heroes in the Bell kit so that is awesome right there for saving on chars.
