So the long awaited new album from SOAD was finally released today. I have listened to it all the way through a few times and i am still trying to decide if it is as good as self titled or toxicity. It has amazing guitar and powerful vocals, lots of emotion and possibly their best song yet (Lost in Hollywood)
I guess i see this album as an experiment, it truly is Darons masterpiece, he wrote most of the album and sings alot of it. Now all i can say is roll on Hypnotise.
So for those that have it what do you think? and for those that dont, will you be getting it?

Bought it earlier today, I've only listened to it the once so far.
I'd have to say that on first impression it isn't as good as Toxicity or the self titled, though it is very very good. I agree it's very much an experiment, but simply having another toxicity would have been a bit boring so it is a nice change.

What's more important it is far better than 99.9% of the guff that calls itself "metal" in the current musical climate.
Mind you that was always going to be the case. :p

Will any of their albums ever beat Toxicity?

Methinks not.

I'll still end up buying Mezmerise though, whether its utter rubbish or gold plated wonder-music :D

I bought it earlier today, listened to it the whole way through twice, and I decided that although its not the greatest SoaD, it is damn good as others have stated.

My favorites are: Revenga, Radio/Video, and Lost in Hollywood

I don't like: This Cocaine Makes Me Feel Like I'm On This Song, and Violent Pornography.

Overall, it really is great, and I can't wait for Hypnotize.

From the songs I have heard (the two that are on the site) they seem to have gone more metal and less Armenian. They do very good metal but i miss those Armenian boys.

There are 2 on the site? I can only find BYOB...
The album over all is very ballanced, there are a few heavy songs but there are also some really good other types. Having only listened to it the once so far I can't really discribe them, but they havn't "gone all metal" they still very much have their own sound, its just that this time the sound is a bit different from that of Toxicity.

Had it for 3 days now
It's playing on my PC at the moment

I'm incredibly irritated by the fact that the stupid piece of shyte CD player at work won't recognise the CD (does the same to a few of my CDs... and it's nothing to do with anti-burning measures, Steal This Album couldn't be copied if I recall and that plays at work, Mesmerize copied nicely hence I'm listening to it now, and didn't play at work)
Even copied it onto a cassette to find it's also not working on the work stereo

I quite like the album.
Hell, I like all the songs
And the unhinged lunatic pervert in me loves B.Y.O.B., Cigaro, and Violent Pornography... and Lost in Hollywood.

It's like quite a few of the albums I like these days, the first listen through you're unsure, but the more you listen to it, it grows on you

If I was wearing a dress I'd be a happy camper with this CD :D

It took a while to grow on me but i love Mezmerise, its by far their most varied work, however it feels uncomplete as its only 37 minutes long. I can't wait for Hypnotise now! I think this album is as uncompromising as i would expect from system, they dont need to do the heaviest music in the world to make themselves uncompromising, they do it buy making such varied music.

My favourite tracks are hard to choose but, i particularly like "Lost in Hollywood", "Old School Hollywood" and "Sad Statue".

Their self titled album is by far their best.

New albums pretty good, not awesome, but good.

I think this in itself shows how good a band they are, seemingly every system fan i meet has a different opinion on which is the best album. For me its Steal this Album!. 14th June cannot come soon enough for me :D

Yeah having people fight over the best album when a band has 20 albums is one thing, but when there are only 4...

I've not heard much from the self titled unfortunatly, so untill I do toxicity is gonig to be my no1.

I agree, even though Toxicity, Chop Suey and Lost in Hollywood are my favorite System songs Self titled is my favorite album and it contains none of the 3 songs.

I can wait to see them live on the 15th of June :D :D

Toxicity wins it for me simply because of the songs Toxicity, Chop Suey, Deer Dance and Forest :D

Tell the truth I wasn't all that keen on Steal This Album...
