I was wondering what the average game size was in Warhammer 40k. For me it is 1000 points, as I usually don't have enough time for larger games, and when I do it is rarely over 2000 points. What about you?

Ether 1500 ( for a fast game), 1750 ( the size i think is best for 40k). Or if i have the time and energy ( and most crucial of all oponents) 3000+ for that extra crazy rush.

My games average between 1000 and 2500.

1500, it's good for tournie players and people out for fun, I apologise for any errors, I am a little drunk right now.

2k most of the time...

though you probably should have included something in the 1700/1750/1850 range for all those tourney players.

somewhere around 1500pts.

1500 points for when me and my friends have a day free. Get 3-4 of us to warhammer world and have a game in the morning, then some lunch and the odd beer then get a couple more games in the afternoon. Awesome.

Bigger games and we dont get the same number of games and smaller ones dont really feel worth the effort.

1.5-2k is where it's at

CommissarGuard

1.5 to 1750 are mine

I enjoy 1000pts the most. Too much larger and the game bogs down and becomes too slow for my taste.

1850 for the most part, downscaling for time or space considerations.

Troah
27-11-2009, 23:12
Normally either 3,000 or 4,000.

StormWulfen
27-11-2009, 23:29
normally about 2000 for me, anything less is a bit too quick, i also regularly play 3000+ apoc games.

BaloOrk

1750 for the most part

Dangersaurus

Usually between 500 and 3000. Sometimes more or less.

For fun games I usually play 1000 to 1500 point games. If I`m getting ready for tounies, usually 1850 to 2250.

Sorry if any typo, in a hotel so I have to us my brothers Dsi to get on her. >.<

I like 1,500-2,000 point games. Its not for me to play 'Rock Paper Scissors' (500 pt) or 'Call in Sick Today' (3000+)

bocaj
28-11-2009, 00:42
well it varies as i usually play a 2k 0r 3k pts as we usually use a few different players a side.

Laurela

Sadly we play 2000pts everytime, always. No one ever wants to play smaller battles with me. I prefer those greatly.

I like 1000-1500, generally 1200 though. I hate long games because I can look at the table, see his units and know where I want mine to go. I don't need to watch his whole turn unfold. I'd rather just go sit and play playstation while he moves and shoots, and roll dice from there if I play a long game. They just don't hold my interest long enough.

1500 pick up or 1750 if we have time

Vaktathi

All my games are 1750/1850/2000, with 2000 being my favorite.

The Laughing God

Almost always play 1750 point games, but I do like 1500 as well as 2,000. Anything over that gets boring IMO.

Gordian

I normally play 1500 at my GW, but if I'm playing a mate, it'll probably be 2000.

Lordsaradain

1,5k usually.

I usually play 1500 but I cram in an apocalypse game when I can.

I like playing huge apocalypse games but obviously I havent always got the time or the space to play them :( Usually I play between 1500 and 2000 as this means my whole force isnt just my compulsary two troops and an hq. 2000 also alows me to field a decent amount of tanks (I'm a guard player at heart). Also with my 10,000 points if i'm only using 2000 I can play a completely different list every game which is good and its fun to confuse my friends by taking an all infantry 2000 point list after he's kitted his Salamanders out with melta weapons to deal with the tanks I usually bring.

The players at my store usually play 1500, which I enjoy. Not too fast, and not too slow (unless you are playing Orks of course :) ). Anything larger and we usually have more than one player per side. My best game was when me and another Marine player teamed up to take on Tau and Chaos.

1750 is what we play at my club but 1850 is pretty common as well. In terms of game sizes I see...

1. 1750 pts.
2. 1850 pts.
3. 1500 pts.
4. 2000 pts.
5. 1250 pts.

Imperius

Alot of the Hardcore players do 1750 and 1850. Personally I think 1850 is a bit silly, but thats me.

Thud

I've been playing 1,500 points more or less exclusively for the last decade, but recently I've started playing 1,750 point games.

Harms66
29-11-2009, 17:29
Due to work commitments I don't get to play that often, so when I do I like to make the most of it and play a huge apocalypse games. The group of friends and family I play with generally field around 6000 point a side.

i practically only ever get to play 1500pt games as thats all anyone has when you go to the store, but i want to play 2000pt starting next year.

1500pts, but soon hoping to try out some 2000pts

Brendi

Usually 1750 around here.

Lothlanathorian
29-11-2009, 23:46
Tourneys around here used to be either 1700 or 2000. After I stopped playing in them (WAAC out the yang), my friends and I kept up with those points. I prefer 2000. We also tend to play on 8x4 or 6x4 tables, so that affect what points we will play.

dblaz3r

2K for me. I like being able to take a range of different units.

Fanboy

1650, standard game size in South Africa.

Some play 1500, but majority, and tournaments are 1650 points

Yours thankfully

Usually 1500. Sometimes 1750 or 2000.

I don't get why tourneys are 1850. It's such an arbitrary number.

Giganthrax
30-11-2009, 14:03
1500-1750 is the average size.

1750 is the best.

Thylacine
30-11-2009, 14:07
In OZ, we play 1750 for most tournaments, some smaller events run 1500, while the top end will be at 2000 points. For a friendly game I like 1750+ as it is in the tournament range, and I can test the lists that I will be using ia a tournament.

Sons of Alaitoc v.2
30-11-2009, 16:34
Sorry about no 1750/1850 options, I haven't been in any tournaments, so I didn't know about that

don_mondo
30-11-2009, 17:34
1500-2000, unless I'm teaching newbs to play, then it's 500-1000. Preferred level 1850, as lots of tourneys around here use that level.

Rothkeen
30-11-2009, 17:37
1500-2000pts here.

Agnar the Howler
30-11-2009, 17:39
For me, my preferred games are anything from 500-1500, although my gaming groups points are 2k+ for both fantasy and 40k, so I get very few games, if any.

blurrymadness
30-11-2009, 20:50
I got into 1850 thinking that was standard Tourny points, just so I'd be used to it. With that, it ranges a bit, but I prefer 1850 for that extra bit of breathing room from 1750. I wouldn't dream of having to cut some stormboyz! ;)

EDIT:
@Don-Mondo
I hear that!
