Right, just a quickie - according to the Rule Book, the WoC Daemonic Mount is treated as a normal steed and grants +1 armour save for being mounted because it has only 1 wound. The mount however does have a full set of stats, so how does that work for allocating hits and stuff?

Normal warhorses don't have a full set of stats, and are effectively part of the model riding them and they have a single wound between them, but a Daemonic Mount isn't like this is it?

This is detailed in the main rulebook and the WoC army book. Read the rules for cavalry.

Ah yes, in the initial description of what a cavalry model is - makes you wonder why they gave T, W and Ld stats to the Daemonic Mount at all then - being as they are never used?

the same reason they give the same stats to all steeds

what that reason is I've no idea!

For completeness - as the rules may change such that you no longer use the riders stat on cavalry models, so they enumerate the stats of each model. In aaddition they have to include the W as otherwise it is not a cavalry mount - the rulebook definition of cav mounts is that they are 1 wound - if they had "-" you would have the situation in the new skaven book with the War Litter...

It is a bit of a throwback to when Chariots were almost useless as you could hit indiviual components. Once you killed the steeds the thing couldn't move and you could ignore it. Add in that when you take a characteristic test you do it for the whole model with the best stat available (unless specified otherwise) so you can use the steeds "useless" stats in some cases.

They are used for characteristic tests as models with multiple profiles use the best available characteristic for any tests they have to make.

About this one. Is there a way to kill it? I guess the only way to kill it is to kill the Lord on it...but for 35 points, is there any reason not to take it?

As it has no wounds you cannot kill it, and no real reason not to take it at only 35 points - you effectively get stormvermin which cant be killed as well as increasing your squishy warlords armour save....
