Hey,

Can I join a wizard mounted on a warhorse to a unit of pistoliers or outriders? If so, what would happen? Would it still count and move as fast cavalry?

If I rememebr rightly, they still count as fast cav, but the hero can't use any of the speical fast cav shooting rules, as your dsticking a wizard in the unit, it doesn't really matter :)

That's correct - joining a character to a fast cavalry unit still lets it move as Fast Cavalry, but not shoot as Fast Cavalry.

I believe the only time they stop a Unit being Fast Cavalry is if they are on a Barded Mount.

Just remember the unit now moves at the speed of the slowest mount (not sure if they are the same or not)

Nope (unless it's stated in ther army book), they'll just slow them down.

No such general restriction exists

So the unit will not shoot as fast cav anymore because a hero is attached or the hero can not shoot as a fast cav but the rest of the unit can?

The rest of the unit can shoot like fast cav, the hero cannot.

The most noticeable effect of this that I have run into is it means the unit retains its 360 degree vision, but the wizard can still only draw LOS to the front arc.

It also means the character cannot march and shoot, nor even reform and shoot, which tends to be pretty basic to how Fast Cavalry normally fires. Kind of harsh on those with magical bows!

AFAIK the only unit that loses their fast cavalry status for getting barded steeds is the Empire outriders. And they probably only loose it for getting the barding themselves, not for being accompanied by a character on a barded steed.

It always says specifically in the army list what options make the unit loose the fast cav rule. It seems like fast cav can't have a better armour than 5+, but that's not an actual general rule.

Interesting...so an Exalted with MoK in a unit of Marauder Horsemen is still fast cav...
