Posted these on dg.org, thought I'd start a blog here as well to share these little bastards with you guys.

Alright guys, Im sure youve all been wondering, hmm what is this huge project MFV keeps hinting about. Well its finally time to show a little bit of what has been going on.... Feyd and I have been working on a dg army on and off since the beginning of summer and man is it ill. Theres still quite a bit of work to do and these pics are only the first ones taken in the beginning of the project so you'll have to stick with me. More pictures are coming tonight. Alright, first up are the semi painted WIP models, the latter was the armys test model.
These are some concept greens, as of now I am working on putting these kinds of helmets on all the marines. Keep in mind there is still quite a bit of detailing to be done.

04-02-2006, 00:47
Sick minis. More please!

04-02-2006, 01:20

These are incredible MFV. It's as if you let Grandfather Nurgle himself sculpt them for you. I think these are the BEST Death Guard minis I have ever seen. So much so, I think I shall abandon my distant plan of ever doing a Death Guard army as I don't think there's any chance of them being 0.0000000001% as good and as truly Nurgle-y as these.

Incredible!

Alright guys I snapped some more pics, this times its a WIP rhino. Ive got most of the basic shapes and details down on this one and now its in line for the detailing and weathering.
Should be more pics up tonight as I do some more sculpting.

04-02-2006, 02:53
your green stuff work is simply amazing. Beautiful rhino, shame about the pics, being blurry. But the models are lovely. Can i ask were you get your green stuff from as you probably frm the looks have had to use a heck of a lot?

04-02-2006, 03:19
In the words of Peter Griffon: *******' sweet!

Metal Fingered Villain
04-02-2006, 03:47
Thanks for the comments guys. I buy all my greenstuff off of ebay as it is ridiculously cheaper then buying it from gs. You get probably 30x the amount for like 5 dollars more then the GW pricetag. Workin on the termi's tonight, they are a good inch maybe inch and a half taller then the regular CSM's. Debating on whether I should start a typhus conversion.

04-02-2006, 04:22
Mother of God.

Those are so money. I wanna paint em :D

04-02-2006, 06:32
Alright this is gonna take a couple of posts but, I took mad pictures about 10 mins ago and would like to share them. Better pics of the rhino....
The lord with his other arm attached at a different angle...
Flamer marine.....

Metal Fingered Villain
04-02-2006, 06:34
Alright, here are some more marines. A lof them need their gas masks cleaned up and details added here and there.

Metal Fingered Villain
04-02-2006, 06:36
Here are the last couple of pics...Chosen standard bearer, a old WIP terminator and one of my newer terminators for the army...

04-02-2006, 12:25
Again, absolutely gob-smackingly astonishing stuff MFV! You've just re-iterated why DG are the ultimate gs fiend's army :D

And that Rhino is just sick, in all the best possible Nurgle-tastic kind of ways. Man, I am so envious of your skills... ;)

This is shaping up really well, I'm looking forward immensely to seeing the finished project, the whole army together. Are you planning to take it to any Tournaments? I'd certainly hope to see it in 'the flesh', so to speak, some day!

04-02-2006, 12:48
These are amazingly cool sick! The green stuff work is incredible and it seems you have used in abundance!

04-02-2006, 15:56
Whats up everybody, i'm MFV's partner in crime, responsible for a fair chunk of this nefarious contagion. Heres the freshly finished (almost) Demon Prince. MFV has got the honor of painting the poor sod as I got to sculpt him... i'm confident he'll do the fat bastard justice. Later tonight we'll be cranking as many tropps as we can, so we'll post updates shortly.

village idiot
04-02-2006, 16:02
 Sweet mother of God! That is awesome! That should be a great Unclean one, not a daemon prince, it's huge! I am assuming it is made from scratch, either way, you have skills.

04-02-2006, 16:04
wow, that demon prince is looking truly awesome! cant wait to see that guy fully painted and based. reminds me of something i seen on CMON

04-02-2006, 16:32
MFV: Ohh Iīve sen your stuff on dg.org and they are great! this a nightmareish cartoon sculpts a great! the rhino superb!!! these marines with cool rebreathers are awsome (mind if I steal the idea?) an ahh well everything looks great painting a bit rought but it looks good overall.

Feyd:Thatīs one pice of impressiv monster great sculping!!

Iīm might have an other go at Dg now :( damn Iīll never going to compete a army....

04-02-2006, 17:24
feyd, you. rock.

best DP ever.

04-02-2006, 17:52
I must say that I too really like the look you've gone for here. It's so far away from what a regular marine looks like, it suits Nurgle and it looks like someone's deranged artwork come to life, instead of trying to shoe-horn a look onto the existing models. Not sure if they'd be tournament legal though, as it looks like less than 50% is GW! The rest is Greenstuff!

04-02-2006, 17:56
They are seriously sick!!!!!!! It seems as most of the bodies on the marines are GS? You guys are doing some awesome work here, keep it up, and paint those horrors well!!!

Metal Fingered Villain
04-02-2006, 19:16
If GW doesnt let us enter this army and its traitor guard brother army into a tourney Im going to have to choke a redshirt and then crap on his face. But yea, Ive got soem work on the Terminators goin, they are going to be essentially mini daemon princes. And, well if you like the daemon prince, you should view the great uncean one. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA :chrome: :chrome: :chrome: :chrome:

04-02-2006, 19:34
So you have something that you havenīt showed us yet?? POST EM for nurgels glory! come on pretty please I love this stuff so no more teasing ;) show em

and also take some picces of the traitor guard!! would be great to see al of this!

04-02-2006, 19:40
If GW doesnt let us enter this army and its traitor guard brother army into a tourney Im going to have to choke a redshirt and then crap on his face.

Sorry. I got a little excited.

This is my new favorite thread, these models are incredible.

04-02-2006, 20:40
Just seen the Daemon Prince. I am running out of superlaitves as to how incredible this army is looking. In future I'll just use a single smiley-type symbol to represent how gob-smakcinlgy awe-inducing these minis are:

:D :D :D

(Okay, that's three!)

P.S. I don't suppose you guy's would work to commission? ;)

Metal Fingered Villain
04-02-2006, 20:54
Me and Feyd are starting a little studio called AK-47 but yea we are open to all kinds of commissions from WHFB to WH40k to Confrontation. But probably not till later in the spring as we need to get all this crap finished for GD LA, Ive got to finish the baneblade and scratchbuild 3 more russ's plus I havnt even started fully sculpting onto the guard. But we got 2 months.

So you have something that you havenīt showed us yet?? POST EM for nurgels glory! come on pretty please I love this stuff so no more teasing show em

and also take some picces of the traitor guard!! would be great to see al of this!
Well, you gotta wait till tonight, sorry bro, check back in like 5 or 6 hrs...

04-02-2006, 21:13
Those look positively sickening MFV!
They're like, all the cool Deathguard sculpting possibilities that GW missed all poured into a single army. :D

I can see some GW bitz on most of the mini's (Chaos Warrior helmets, bolters, arms etc.) but I was wondering how much of those minis is actually 'marine' and how much of them are home sculpted, it's very hard to tell with quite a lot of the minis. ;)

Great job on the Rhino by the way! I want one. :D

Metal Fingered Villain
04-02-2006, 21:30
Well, we can take commissions for Deathguard stuff atm. AND, AND, if anyones interested this army will be goin up on ebay complete with a custom magnatized display base including Guard trenchs, rotting bodies, crucified guardsmen and commisars and nurglings running rampant over everything!!!

04-02-2006, 22:04

You deserve a medal, both of you.

05-02-2006, 00:50
Im out of words..... That is Awesome work..... Keep up the good work and Im looking forward to seeing more from you guys.

Metal Fingered Villain
05-02-2006, 01:03
Thanks guys, Feyd and I are trying to find somewhere where we can take the army to win some awards and maybe some WD coverage.. Then sell it on ebay. Startin work on some traitor guardsmen tonight, maybe a chimeara.

Metal Fingered Villain
05-02-2006, 02:14
Alright guys, I got some more pics of marines and the newly started Termi. He should be mostly finished tonight along with maybe a couple more.
Cant find the marines so Ill do another post...

Metal Fingered Villain
05-02-2006, 02:18
Some more marines, We've got around 15 or 16 done, have to do 35 total, maybe 49....Thinking about doing possesed and a squad of plaguebearers. So far we have 4 rhino mounted squads and 2 infiltrating squads. Thinking about doing the 2 infiltrating squads with 14 men instead of 7..see where time goes. Any suggestions for possesed too?

05-02-2006, 03:48
Oh my god.

Fantastic. It makes me want to do DG again, damn...

05-02-2006, 09:00
Really awe-inspiring work. Wow.

05-02-2006, 11:24
Your whole army is disgusting. Nurgle would be proud. :D

I love that daemon prince, really original. The models actually remind me of computer game bad guys, if that makes any sense. The rhino especially is great because you haven't just stuck green stuff on a normal rhino, it actually looks decayed. I'm really impressed, just goes to show that you can take death guard armies to another level.

05-02-2006, 12:03
:D :D :D

And that's all I've got to say!

05-02-2006, 12:15
Suggestions for posessed.... hmm how about grossly bloated spacemarines that are taking on the aspects of plaguebeares (thining of daemonic visage posessed)

05-02-2006, 12:26
this armies looking really good.
any chance of getting a pic of how the armies looking as a whole and also how each individual unit is looking.

05-02-2006, 13:14
possessed idea: maybe the bloated space marine idea that Zactar suggested but with vents (see typhus's termie armour) sprouting from their back.

P.S. if you're doing traitor guard as well then i have to recommend you use the stormtrooper models (not the kasrkin). Those gas masks would work so well with your over all theme, it's almost too good to miss!

The boyz
05-02-2006, 18:32
Wow what can I say MFV, a truly great looking and extremely well converted army. I love the green stuffing, every minature I have seen looks great. Cant wait to see more updates and the whole army when it is finished.

Good job

Metal Fingered Villain
06-02-2006, 00:56
Alright guys, Feyd and I did a grip of work last night and I am proud to post a few more piccies. First up is the DaemonPrince, started painting him...so far so good.
Heres some more pics of the rhino, sides and tops need a little work but its comin together.
And some troops...

06-02-2006, 01:50

leik sti so good i cant spel nemore!!!! ;)

though, seriously, that skin tone is nuts good, it's so sickly, and veiny

i love it!

(and that rhino just keeps growing!)

Metal Fingered Villain
06-02-2006, 03:24
Aight guys, more WIP shots on the prince and a group shot of some painted models so far.... Army's progress is astounding.

06-02-2006, 03:52
Nicely done guys!

06-02-2006, 04:06
great stuff, what vallejo colors did you use?

Metal Fingered Villain
06-02-2006, 05:18
Alright..got a few more shots of the DP after some shading...

Captain Ardias
06-02-2006, 07:24
By the gods that daemon prince is amazing, he is just so big and bloated. Great work.

06-02-2006, 07:58
Truly great painting MFV, a neat style thatīs very uniqe keep it up and keep working and posting ;) I might have to steal alot of ideas from you guys , you insipre all the DG players to do better armys this oneīs the best I ever seen!!!

06-02-2006, 09:21
Grandfather nurgle is calling me...but...must....resist Deathguard army.

06-02-2006, 10:00
my oh my... that that's comin along nicely

06-02-2006, 12:51
awesome stuff! that demon prince is truly horrific, it just looks like.....well death. that mouth is brilliant. i cant wait to see the rest of your army painted up.

06-02-2006, 20:28
Work like this makes the rest of us needing to step up our game. You guys have a great talent at making an awesome looking Nurgle army. This has to be one of the best looking Nurgle armies I've seen. Good luck.

06-02-2006, 21:05
Well, this is one of the coolest things I've seen in... ever.

Keep up the great work, another couple of groups shots would be great right about now.

Metal Fingered Villain
07-02-2006, 05:35
Some more progress pics of the DP and some changes to the standard bearer, gonna hang pieces of meat and body parts from his belt and bulk out the lower legs.
Army WIP so far...
Demon Prince WIP shots and some links.

07-02-2006, 05:44
Keep on rocking.

08-02-2006, 10:49
Consider this bookmarked...:D :D :D
Puts most DG to shame...

08-02-2006, 11:09
Those are amazing, keep us posted, be nice to see them if and when you get them finished!

08-02-2006, 13:18
Indeed, sigged, the fourth thread ever to make it in.

Metal Fingered Villain
09-02-2006, 03:54
Alright guys, Ive started work on the DP's back, multi toned skin A-Hoy!

09-02-2006, 05:47
oh my god alex... that flesh looks SICK way better than I thought it was gunna turn out... keep that up haha i cant wait to see him finished...

09-02-2006, 06:12
The back of that DP is kinda good.

Kinda...no, REALLY f-ing good. Sorry :)

09-02-2006, 10:07
i agree, youve nailed it there son! the way youve got the shades of grey and pink to blend is just top rate, i hope the rest of the minis will take cues from this example

09-02-2006, 11:24
Wow, very gross, the back looks like a big fat "bum" really not very pleasent at all.

Metal Fingered Villain
10-02-2006, 03:26
That pic was a WIP shot, I reworked some areas and highlighted all of the areas up to pure bleached bone so the blues and purples arnt as noticeable, then washed certain areas with camo green to give it that sick pallid look. Should have pics up again tonight.

Math Mathonwy
20-02-2006, 10:53
We want more! MORE!

Metal Fingered Villain
21-02-2006, 02:25
Oh and I have more! Been churning out stuff like crazy almost 75% done with the troops and about 60% done with the vehicles, my fellow red shirted friend who recently quit was nice enough to pick up my guard for me so I have 2 battleforces 3 boxs of shocktroops 1 box of zombies and some heavy weapon teams in the mail to go along with the already 2 basilisks 1 vanquisher and a Nurglitch Pattern Baneblade. Anyways here are soem rhinos and the predator. (damn warseers 4 pic limit!!!!!!)

Metal Fingered Villain
21-02-2006, 02:38
Alright continuing with the updates....Posted the rhino's already and the pred, heres a detailed shot of the corpse atop the Pred....
And I'll start with the troops as I might as well make use of the image space as best I can...These guys still need to be cleaned up but are coming along nicely.

Metal Fingered Villain
21-02-2006, 02:46
Alright and more pics...got quite a lot and the whole 4 pic limit is very annoying but alas stay tuned to thizz... First pic is of an aspiring champion with a plaguesword.
Flamer marine, thats why he's so huge!
Regular marine....
And more WIP pics of the standard bearer, reworked his powerfist and added more to the corpes..
Thats all for now, Feyd and I are going to try and get all the marines done so we can start on our gigantic termies. They should clock in at about an inch maybe half an inch taller then GW's plastics, true tactical dreadnaught armor!

21-02-2006, 03:18
First of all let me say again, awsome minis. Second, do you undercoat them by hand and paint?

Metal Fingered Villain
21-02-2006, 03:51
No its just that some of these mini's were started a while and my sculpting style has since changed and evolved so certain parts are reworked..

21-02-2006, 07:46
Finally updates :D Iīve been longing for those pics. Well c&c for each one:

1 Rhino:I loveed it since the first pics of it and the new "round" mouths looks dang evil and just like the ones in the codex (If I remember right....) īGreat stuff

2 Rhino:Just like thhe first one I love this stuff lots of mouths fat deamons and nurgelistik stuff you donīt want to know what it is... hehe anyways greeat scupl on this maybe better then the first but then again they are done in different styles

3 Rhino:Well a mix of your old and new work right? Looks great more guts on this one wich is a bit of your trademark these days. Well anyways The deamon head to the left looks great amazing sculpt.

Preadator:Looks good but I donīt like the head to the right it looks to funky, but I LOVE the corspe and I have to steal that idea ok? extremly nice looks like they put a guardsmen there and waited until the flies ate him :D mmmm I love the smell of rotining guardsmen in the morning

Land raider:The gs armor looks ******* amazing but the other nurgel stuff looks a bit ....... odd since your other stuff looks so much better is this a old one?

Flamer marine: HEheheh love the pose and the flamer, I donīt like the way the armor "melts" I like when they have a naked belly wel thatīs just me being weird but it looks better IMO

Asp C:Hell yeah now thats one bad*ss love the way you sculped this one with the shoulder pad lokking ace and the plauge sword arm in a perfec position, head looks awsome and if Iīm not totaly wrong from the codex (or well insipred from it) great

The flamer marine: Looks like a oversized nurgling :D I like the consept with the flamer marines being bigger and all that, nice use of a ImpG flamer they look so much better then the silly SM ones

Regular marine: Well it looks good not as eye catching as your other work but thatīs why heīs a regular marine right ;) good looks for rank and file.

The standard: looks great now and I really like how heīs turning out

Well thatīs it for now post more pics and Iīll be sure to praise them since this is so ********* good damn now keep it up I might have to steal some ideas from this arm ok?

Math Mathonwy
21-02-2006, 07:57
You guys are absolutely, completely insane, you know.

This is the most awesome project I have ever seen, and I've seen lots of projects along my fourteen years of miniature gaming.

Metal Fingered Villain
21-02-2006, 08:22
Animerik-Thanks for all the praise and good comments it really keeps the modelling going. The landraider is infact rather old and outdated but has since been nurglified a tad bit more. I agree with the head on the predator it is a tad bit weird, maybe some hanging flesh here and there, one of the eyes popped out and some muscles dripping off will make it look a bit better. The troops are what's taking the longest, I pretty much rounded out the tanks tonight so should have some more wip pics, just need to go back and sculpt the bursting armor to make it look like all the gunk is tearing out of the hull. Should have paint on a couple rhinos within the next week also. And just for you guys...a couple termie WIP shots.

21-02-2006, 08:29
I am stunned again with every update. I would be scared to have my army face these guys across the table, the corruption looks so real.

You have some great imagery there.

21-02-2006, 09:21
MFV: Well this is lovely insipration for me as a nurgel player to! I check this thread about five times a day to get insipration, Itīs also this army that made be re-do my DG ;)

First termi:Looks alot like the DP wich is good and I love the way the torso is sculped just like a real body with skin and muscels then stomach "bag" and then guts mmmmmmm lovely

Second termi:Loks good and solid to iīm really lookning forward to se the whole squad done and painted

Great studd and keep it up post more pics please this is so good

Metal Fingered Villain
21-02-2006, 17:57
Well, went from 4 tubes of GS down to 1 so expect more pics tonight and more stuff to be sculpted. My partner in crime Feyd is starting another DP were doin for commission. This ones like the other but with a skullhelm, tubes comin out the mouth, butcher knifes and different posing.

21-02-2006, 20:20
Have you finished painting the original DP yet? How about that greater deamon you were talking about?

Metal Fingered Villain
21-02-2006, 22:05
The Greater Demon has been lost to the perils of the warp that are my room. :wtf: So as soon as I find it I will post some pics. As for the DP's progress progress has slightly halted as Im expending all my available hobby time on getting the sculpting finished.

21-02-2006, 22:37
I thought you were only responsible for the painting side?

Anyways, very cool, each one of those termies looks like a perfect mini DP.

Very cool.

Metal Fingered Villain
22-02-2006, 01:47
Naw, Feyd and I are pretty much splitting everything 50/50 as were at about the same level on both sculpting and painting atm. By the end of this army we should be top notch sculptors though. Alright well 2 IG battleforces, 2 box's of shock troops, 1 box of zombies and 1 box of heavy weapons arrived in the mail today so expect some traitor guardsmen concept pics comin up tonight...

22-02-2006, 05:28
Man, your only 17! Even more major props then. Imagine how good you'll be in another few years!:D :D :D I'm 19 and I can't do anything like that!

very impressed,

22-02-2006, 06:55
Outstanding as usual! My love for this army knows no bounds - it is, in my opinion, THE definitive DG army. I love the Termies, they look like the proper debased versions of Heresy-era Termy suits - with proper nurglification!

That corpse on top of the Pred is the best, I love zombie films and that is just like something out of Dawn of the Dead!

Keep it coming, looking forward to your Traitor concepts!

Metal Fingered Villain
22-02-2006, 07:10
And Traitor Concepts there are, here are the first 10 in their initial phases, still gotta do gasmask lenses, carapace armor and sculpt clothing and armor where the bellies are comin out...anyways enough rambling, here are pics!
Feyd and I are hoping to get these two beasts of armies down to the LA gamesday with interlocking display bases...should draw a nice crowd of onlookers and spike some interest for there respective ebay auctions...

22-02-2006, 07:50
Most impressive, how many forums are you posting this on?

Seriously, you want to attract attention? Start spreading the word through other forums.

22-02-2006, 10:34
The traitor guard need more green stuff and more guts. Just having their intestines hanging out isn't enough.

Torn clothing, perhaps even longcoats would look a lot better on them.

Metal Fingered Villain
22-02-2006, 18:14
Yea, they are only in their first stages of conversion. I still need to do torn clothing, carapace armor and assorted nurgley things to them, but keep in mind I'm keeping these a little less complex then the deathguard as I have to do 80+ models.

22-02-2006, 19:46
looking great and when finished they will be ace no doubt! I donīt want to comment them more right now so I wait until I see some updates with all the things added as you mentioned they are going to be one nasty pice of work so keep it up!!

Metal Fingered Villain
24-02-2006, 04:38
Alright there have been some slight drawbacks to my hobby time I.E throwing up blood at lacrosse practice and being sick but Feyd and I are rumbing on. First post, since I can only post 4 images are of a couple traitors with finished gasmasks.

Metal Fingered Villain
24-02-2006, 04:40
And an update on the Death Guard Tanks....

24-02-2006, 04:50
Your deathguard scare me.

I soundly approve. Damn I wish people would stop making me want to get new armies.

24-02-2006, 07:54
Throwing up blood? Perhaps you are getting too into Nurgle character...

Or you took one of those insanely hard lacross balls to the stomach/torso.

24-02-2006, 08:14
Throwing up blood? Perhaps you are getting too into Nurgle character..

I constantly throw up blood when I see this Nurgle army.
It's good :D

Metal Fingered Villain
26-02-2006, 06:26
Alright got some more done on the DP, he's getting pretty close to being done so here they go....

Metal Fingered Villain
26-02-2006, 06:27
And some of the Rhino......

26-02-2006, 06:56
The armour is supremely cool, works so well with the infestation.

Math Mathonwy
26-02-2006, 07:08
Looking good there. The "stripy" style for the armour really gives it life, so to speak. But would it be a good idea to add some Nurgle Marks or something to that Daemon Prince as he looks a bit bland (well, you can't really call anything like that 'bland' but you get the point).

26-02-2006, 07:56
Everything is so good excellent! I appluade you immensly. I really like how the trator guard are coming long and i really like the stripey painting style you use on the models to stop them looking flat and plain -also makes it looklike rotting wood.

26-02-2006, 08:41
Everything looks wonderfully gross.

My only concern is how the plague marines get in and out of the rhinos.

Math Mathonwy
26-02-2006, 08:50
My only concern is how the plague marines get in and out of the rhinos.
You don't wanna know. Trust me.

26-02-2006, 12:47
Amazing I simply love the teeth on the rhino , could you post an army shot please of all the completed models?

The e-bay auction, will it be one for each army, or the guard and marines together?

Very cool.

26-02-2006, 14:36
This is just sick! how much greenstuff did you used man?
your sculpings are just amazing. this a very unique army, good luck with the other models.

26-02-2006, 21:10
been watching for a long time and have finally decided to register.
first things first:
ARRGH! you've forced me to collect Deathguard.

DP is fantastically brilliant! :D (out of interest how many packs of GS did it take?).

keep the infestation (err... I mean good work) going.

Father Nurgle would be proud.

26-02-2006, 21:42
looking goooood.
any chance of a pic of everything youv'e done so far?

Metal Fingered Villain
26-02-2006, 23:56
Sadly, a pic of everything I've done so far would be a pic of about the rhino, DP, lieutenant and a flamer marine most of which have already been shown. Feyd and I are getting pretty close to having the whole army ready for priming. Still looking for ideas for backpacks.

27-02-2006, 12:45
Awsome awsome stuff. i thought you went a little over bourd on the rhinos but seeing them painted they do look terrific. i guess i was thinking everything green was infestation but some is warped plates looking a little fleshing great stuff very nurgily.

My only concern is wheres the combi bolters on the rhinos?

27-02-2006, 14:49
Simply brilliant. I too would like to know how much GS you've gone through. I'd also like to see what you guys would do with terrain for this army. Keep up the good work!

I think Feyd and I are currently on our 5th and 6th tubes with another 2 laying on the table ready to be cracked open. I think we get about 15 GW ribbons per tube so its quite a lot....but buying it in bulk of ebay is very beneficial. As for the rhino's yea they looked a tad bit OTT with the greens but are really comin together with some paint on em. We will be making rather large scenic magnatized display bases for these bastards. There are going to be trenchs, decaying guardsmen, crucified guardsmen, lots of blood puddles with that water effects resin. The two bases of the Traitors and the DG will have removeable panels on the side so they interlock together for tournament display. Im still trying to figure out the specific painting details for the traitors at this moment in time however. I know rotting armor and leather boots etc...but am stuck on the fatigues, maybe a scorched brown highlighted up to bleached bone or codex grey. Some input would be much appreciated! I also am pondering gasmask lenses and what color they should be, Im thinkin just a grey to white glassy look..... Anyways, sorry for rambling on and on and Ill just try and get some pics up soon. Deathguard troops are getting close to being done, I have 40 guardsmen waiting finishing touches on their gasmasks then its the carapace armor and torn clothing.

28-02-2006, 04:11
Try maybe an orange or green for lenses?

Cool minis once again :D

28-02-2006, 07:04
first of all let me say fantastic work. you are the god of all deathguard players, seriously.

i do have some hubmle advice that you may incorporate, i noticed you asked for ideas on how to do the backpacks. i personnaly think chaos backparks would be dandy, but maybe add severed hands 'holding the jets' and sewage leaking from the vents

as for the guard, i think a deep rusty orange would look really awsome, though you could do what i do for my chaos, and make all fabrics out of flayed skin!

good luck with you army, again, you are awsome. That work is amazing.

28-02-2006, 14:46
that DP is realy cool
but why has'nt he any hand or weapon ?

that DP is realy cool
but why has'nt he any hand or weapon ?

vlad boukarin

does it really need one? the sight of it alone would kill a man (either that or the toxic putrid smell which i have no doubt it has).
but semi-seriously the "hands" look to have the "pestal and mortor" about them as if it could grind and pulverise them into the ground.

also if it comes to it, it could always stage dive!:D

Metal Fingered Villain
01-03-2006, 03:25
Feyd designed the list but I think the DP has demonic strength and like either twin powerfists or something or the other. Inbetween his giant claw/pincer/crab claw insturments of doom there are little nozzles where he sprays giant gouts of coagulated blood and vile diseases which list wise counts as wind of chaos. A very nasty spell that just devestates anything other then space marines. I think the backpacks are going to be some kind of barrels or plague vents. We migiht not do backpacks but instead just bulked out backs with giant vents coming out. But, we'll see....

01-03-2006, 08:36
Wind of Chaos messes up marines just as much as anything else, considering it always wounds on a 4 and ignores armour save...

01-03-2006, 14:33
I guess since you've given us such an inspiring thread the least I could do is offer my two cents on the fatigues and gas mask lenses.
What about more of a dress uniform for the fatigues like a black or white? As for the lenses, what about a milky white with the bottom filling up with blood or puss?

01-03-2006, 15:24
I'd pay to play against this army..

My only comment is that some of the traitor guardsmen don't look bloated enough, I think its because of the relatively thin legs and arms.. if I were you I'd redo most of their legs, as well as the abdomen that you have already done, to make them look.. (slightly more) grotesquely bloated..

01-03-2006, 20:51
Best army I've seen until now. Seeing conversions like these make me (almost, but not quite) reconsider my alliegence to slaanesh^^

Can't wait to see it all finished.

Yea, we are trying not to do too much work wise on the basic traitor seeing as there are 80 of them, they look nice and gribbly now with torn clothing and their carapace armor, Ive got some on the knees and thighs and elbows and new shoulders so they are lookin pretty sweet. As for paying to pay, admission starts at 5 bucks a game.

02-03-2006, 03:50
move them up to the great white north and you got yourself a deal :D

like how they're coming along, cant wat to see what the guardsman look like

02-03-2006, 11:35
Nice stuff, I used a very simillar colour scheme for my DG. May I suggest that you use inks and vary the tad boring "mildew green" colours by introducing small brown patches painted in the same way? I found it useful for introducing more colour and giving the models armour a bit of diversity. Anywhoo, its your army, not mine, so do as you please.

Metal Fingered Villain
02-03-2006, 17:04
The armor is washed with varying shades of purples and browns, the rhino shots you have seen are just WIP, in reality the armor's shades are very subtle and muted. I think feyd and I are using a total of like 5 or 6 paints for the whole army.

First rhino and DP are pretty much finished, expect more pics tomarrow.

03-03-2006, 14:48
Can you post the army list? I'd like to see what it looks like.

04-03-2006, 20:47

Without going into too much hyperbole, I must say these models are just beautiful works of art. Keep up the great work.

Warboss Garfang
04-03-2006, 21:03
Wow, I can't wait to see more! Some of the most incredible modeling I've seen, especially on a full army(or really 2!). Deffinately like everything so far, and the Daemon Prince blew me away. You guys do amazing work, keep it up!

19-03-2006, 03:42
I physically retch everytime I see the back of that DP.

It's so, terribly disgusting.

P.S: That's a good thing.

21-03-2006, 11:09
mip mip mip MiiiP

ok well heres some rhino pictures, QUALITY SUCKS, i'm sorry...

21-03-2006, 11:10
2 more rhino shots,

and 2 terribly awful shots of a big giant marine

21-03-2006, 11:11
and 2 also bad pictures of a flamer marine whose second arm is a rather over sized flamer, his fist is rediculous on purpose, yes...

21-03-2006, 11:21
I nearly wet my pants with excitement each time I see you've added new pics, MFV! :D The quality on these pics may not be as good as the previous, but the quality of the sculpting still shines through. Fantastic stuff as usual, keep 'em coming!

21-03-2006, 16:11
top quality sculpts as usual :D

what more can we say other than keep them coming?

21-03-2006, 16:40
...there's a rhino under all that green stuff?

Hideous Loon
21-03-2006, 17:54
I wonder, how do the Marines get into that Rhino, with all that goo on the outside? Or, maybe I don't want to know... yuerch...

21-03-2006, 18:39
Damn guys, you make me WANT to throw up :D

Supremely done!!!! Keep it up, I want more updates...

21-03-2006, 18:52

Osmosis? In the sick way...

21-03-2006, 19:45
Ack! Where did the rhino go? You mean there's actually a vehicle under all that mess? :p I think that the Marines get inside of it by being eaten by the mouths and then regurgitated to get back out.

21-03-2006, 19:47
Is there really a rhino under all that greenstuff? lol.

21-03-2006, 20:10
Or they could just use the door thats been left conveniently free of gs.

I'll personally send a prize to the first person who sculpts a land raider assault ramp to look like a sphynxter.

Hideous Loon
21-03-2006, 21:21
I think that'll be MFV, judging from his previous sculpting madnesses. So, you'd better make one, MFV! I know where your post box lives!

21-03-2006, 21:29
freaking awesome conversions. and its not infested with gooey worms like the other guy. This looks very awesome, and I can't wait until its finished.

22-03-2006, 23:46
that rhino is almost entirely my baby, so are those 2 marines ;)

23-03-2006, 00:05
You guys certainly are the terrible twosome ;), utterly fantastic work!

Father Nurgle must be proud :)

Dead orc
23-03-2006, 00:06
Feyd that rhino is damn fantastic! How is the whole army going? Is there still a lot left to convert or is it mostly painting left now?

23-03-2006, 00:12
Any chance of a group shot so we can see the overall progress? I understand they're not painted, but even converted it would be a sight to see.

23-03-2006, 01:01
saturday we will, almost all of the converting is done. We still need to build up the terminators and possessed but everything else is mostly done. Some painting has been started but it's still early stage on everything but a few pieces.

More pictures as soon as we can get them.

12-04-2006, 13:09
Just wanted to say that that is possibly the BEST Nurgle DP I have ever seen...such a charismatic design, I mean, looks like a CHARACTER, not like another DP. Congrats, dude, you are inspiring a lot of people!.

12-04-2006, 13:22
Those models are to cool. You are making everyone jealous.

Seriously, great job. I haven't seen models look so gruesome in quite some time. Again, great job. And I don't think one bar of soap is going to be enough...

12-04-2006, 13:48
Best looking army I've seen in a long time. That Daemon Prince is amazing. The claw/sucker/pincer things, the bloatedness, the sheer size of the thing... It could easily pass as a Great Unclean One or (with some metal added) a dreadnought.

12-04-2006, 19:08
I would say speachless, but then I could be contradicting myself. Oh my God!!!! shall have to surfice.

12-04-2006, 19:36
Next rhino, you could just form a styrofoam lump into the shape of a rhino, and sculpt from there, could save you some cash ;)

Very nice skills, looking forward to the termies.

12-04-2006, 21:24
That is some quite nice work, I must say. Personally there are one or two design choices I would make differently, but all in all I can do nothing but approve of your work. I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Plauge Marines. They're dead hard and the previous models were quite ace. I do second the motion that you add some sort of Chaos iconography to at least the Daemon Prince. It'll look a bit more complete, I think.

One day I'll have to have a go at making at least one Nurgle Possessed...

13-04-2006, 17:31
thats no rhino its just a big **** on tracks

13-04-2006, 23:07
To be honest, if I was making a nurgle army that was *that* nurgle, I'd be tempted to get some scent for added effect...

It'll make people look twice at your blood splatters and stains - sure it'll scare people and make them repulsed - but thats nurgle... mmmmmm

And pyramid_head, if you said that about any other log on here, it'd be considered an insult....

Don`t think I`ve commented on this project log before but it was inspiring enough to start my own humble attempt at doing the same in my own project log (http://s11.invisionfree.com/da_Red_Tavern/index.php?showtopic=249&st=0&#last). So I went from wanting to do Thousand Sons to Death Guard all because of this log

Now I guess the others on this forum is feeling the same as me, when will we get some new pics/updates :D

14-04-2006, 18:57

Sorry guys, due to commitments to lacrosse, school and my girl (yes i have a life outside of my sculpting table... ) progress has been severely halted. But, a las this weekend I got some painting time in, so I am conveniently threadomancing this blog so I dont have to find it again when I want to post the pics later tonight... so expect to see new pics of painted marines and a nearly finished rhino in the next couple hours or tomarrow morning.

17-04-2006, 07:42
Oh goodie :D Now you gotta follow up those words MFV or a horde of nurglings will come and get ya :p

PS: check out my project log now, started on a new squad which is kind of a "tribute" to the inspiration you and Feyd has given me (no where near your stuff but still..).

i must say a very nice army how much do you spend on green stuff??

17-04-2006, 21:08
This army keeps getting better, MFV!

When I earn a load of money, I'll commission you to make an incredible Death Guard army like this for me... but I shouldn't hold your breath for that ;) :p :D

Metal Fingered Villain
17-04-2006, 21:43
i must say a very nice army how much do you spend on green stuff??
Surprisingly the GS tally for how much stuff has been sculpted is only at around 40 dollars. As for the commission's that is a high possibility Feyd and myself will be offering to everybody when we open our studio this summer. As for this army and the traitors, we are trying to find a GT to take them too but a lack of info on GT's on the GW website is making that somewhat difficult to find a GT. Then, with their respective display bases, these armies will be listed on ebay.

17-04-2006, 21:55
That's it.....
I've decided to stop collecting and playing WH40K nearly a month ago, sold nearly everything (mainly necron and DG) and now I see this!!!!!!!!
Damn you two........

Keep it up! :-)

Alright this thread never seems to stay too active so it always sinks back to the bottom after a couple reply's so I kinda forgot I had been posting on this forum as well, a lot of work has been done since the last post so here goes. I'll start off first with the terminator thats chugging a long. After the torso was done it became bulked out quite a bit so it is abundantly clear his legs need to be lengthened a tad bit.

Metal Fingered Villain
04-05-2006, 05:49
Well due to warseers 4 pic limit, Im gonna pick the 4 best recent plague marines, 2 WIP aspiring champions and 2 painted doods.

04-05-2006, 10:56
As usual GREAT stuff, I really like the dead guardsmen on a pole :) The paint is looking slick and the termies well arenīt they dread size :P Iīve seen all the "new" marines ad deatguard.org and Iīm not to fond of the new ones.. zombie heads looks like crap IMO wel well great stuff anyways keep it up!

ps. any pics of the LATD?

04-05-2006, 11:13
Lovely, lovely, lovely! :D  I'm always excited when I see this thread has been updated (now that's not sad, is it? :p )

Incredible as usual, my only comment is that Terminator looks TOO big possibly...

Anyway, spectacular, yours is with no doubt the best Death Guard army around!

04-05-2006, 11:23
only slight criticism i can think of on an otherwise good project is about the guy with the impaled bloke banner pole. If you impale someone usually the spike comes out of places of least resistance ie stomach, throat and mouth. Your body weight wouldnt push it through your shull it would just scrape across the roof of your mouth before popping out through your teeth no doubt dislodging a few on the way.

Metal Fingered Villain
04-05-2006, 16:37
That guy was mounted with much care to look as cool as possible after the champion had killed him.....something or other along those lines. Animerik, I agree with you, Feyd just stuck those on a couple nights ago, I think a lot of the heads are getting resculpted.

05-05-2006, 04:00
we're going to chop off the terminators legs and bulk them up, I wasnt able to keep the rest of him scaled when I was working on him with the detail that I wanted to add, so he'll look proper as soon as I get ahold of him again.
