I ordered the Beastmen book and got it yesterday.

Universal knowns (please correct me if I'm wrong):
We know that giants are 50x75.
Dragons are 50x100.

Even though 3 wound creatures are usually on 40x40 bases, razorgoars are on 50x50's (unconventional) , so, I'm having a tough time presuming what the base sizes are for the Ghorgon and Jabberslythe are identical to a giant's and a dragon's respectively. It's possible that a Ghorgon can have a 50x50 or 50x100 for all I know.

I have the giant ram model from the Hordes model range, and I'd like to know how to base him. :cries:

Pathetically yours,
LaughinGremlin :D

50x50 until GW tells me otherwise.

And depending on how they tell me, maybe after.

Currently, I have the Ghorgy on a 50x50, but unpainted, as I hesitate to hear bad "rebasing news"...
OK -- I'll just paint him as is, then if necessary, I can simply place him (and his 50x50 base) on a 50x100 movement tray -- easy fix. If GW says 50x75, I'll be urked.

How long before GW comments on this?

Likely never.

I mean, can you tell me what size base a Chaos Warshrine is supposed to be on?

True...
You'd think in a RULE BOOK, game designers would tell you how large bases would be.
For instance, it would be nice to know how large to make a herdstone (at least ROUGHLY) when the magic shard is used.

This is common sense that ANY game designer should understand.

I am quite sure the exceptions to the standard of 50x50 can be ignored for now.

Yes it could be irksome for people if the base size is mandated to something else.

But Ungor are already irksome for Beastmen players, so hopefully that's the only trouble. ;)

Back in the 3rd edition they actually did.

After that it was dropped for some reason, though at some point in the 6th edition they released a base size chart.

I still have that outdated base size chart.
My first ever base size fix was switching unicorns to 40x40.

don't get me started on the herd stone shard. I have already seen people propose 8 inch diameter rocks to represent the thing!

That's just abusive.

I would propose having the shard be no more than 3 inches in diameter.
