Had this guy for a month or so but finally got started on painting him this weekend, with much of the progress coming in a couple of hours today!

The inspiration for the paint scheme comes from Call of Duty - Mordern Warfare 2's Task Force 141 and the gear they wear in the Quarry multiplayer map.

Particularly pleased with how the helmet, goggles and face have come out. The face looked like it was gonna be a pain in the ass due to being hard to get at with the brush, but was pretty easy in the end. The goggles were the result of a little play around that turned out nicely. I think they look properly see-through, while still appearing reflective.

I'm going to give him a spray with some dullcote through the airbrush before applying the metalics to remove the sheen from some of the washes and glazes.

My first time painting in about 2 months so a little rusty again, but it's been good fun. I recently found some daylight bulbs that fit in my Ikea painting lamps so these have helped a lot too when it comes to painting. Unfortunately they don't seem to be as helpful at the moment for photo taking! Think I'll need to adjust to them so sorry for the poor pics in the meantime.

Hopefully finish him this evening and can then look at finishing a commission and starting up on these:

Can't wait!

Wow Dante, you stuff never ceases to amaze me. The clours on the face are very nice, the shading especially. I'm looking forward to more and the comming mini looks really cool.

Keep it up mate

Finished the figure himself this evening, now just the base to go. Sorry the pics are still a bit sucky, need to sort that out.

All in all pretty pleased with him, especially given the size! (scale pic to follow later).

The gun was a bit poorly cast, especially the hands so it's a little rough, but otherwise, great figure!

More soon.

Cheers,

Dante

Any chance of a quick run-down of how you did the goggles? I'm hardly up to your standard of painting so in-depth step-by-steps are unlikely to yield identical results so don't feel like one is expected. Any pointers in the right direction will be appreciated though :)

Sure!

The goggles were painted the same colour as the helmet initially, then given a thinned wash of dark grey to add some depth.

The outer rim of the goggles was them painted before the inside rim of the lense was then given another shade with thinned dark grey.

The reflections were then added by building up streaks with a few layers of highlights by adding white to the helmet colour mix. Final reflections were added with pure white.

To tie everything back together you can give it a final thin wash with the helmet colour.

Hope that helps!

Cheers,

Dante

Damn fine. I might go so far as to call that the best take on any Ariadna I've ever seen, those Zouaves are fantastic models. I love Infinity, and now I love you.

Looking good mate, glad to see you back in the painting saddle as it were, I think the gun needs a bipod to be fired from that position, but thats not your fault, and there might be a little bit of pigment/mud on the right hand side of the fore grip.

The painting is great however, very atmospheric, and I like the sgts stripes on the forearm.

That is a great paint job (as always) on a cool mini.

I always liked the Infinity range. How many more minis will we see in the future (other than those that you already revealed to us)?

Looking great and I'm really, really looking forward to seeing you paint some Infinity minis. At least a bit of substitute for me not to painting them myself.

Never having seen an Infinity mini in real life, I have to ask the silly question (and sorry if I missed the info in the text); is this machinegun guy you're currently painting an Infinity mini? The detailing looks great, is he 28mm? He looks so large but maybe that's just what true-scale does.

Cheers mate. Yes, good to be back in the swing again and the change up in mini range is refreshing - different lines and surface styles etc.

Yes, the pose looks a little odd thanks to a measuring error on my part. I like to think it looks like the gun is bucking back from recoil and he's trying to hold it down. :D

Yep, only noticed after I'd taken the pics, it's gone now.

I don't plan on buying anymore until after I paint the ones I have and get on with a few other projects....

I do like the looks of some of the new Hassassin Bahram and the veteran Kazak's though.

They are actually really small. This guy's head is about the same height as a cadian's breast plate! I think 28mm yes. Because of the scale some elements such as fingers can end up a bit miscast though - can be a bit frustrating.

And yes, he is from the Infinity Ariadna range - Ariadna Zouaves Sapper HMG to be precise. :)

Very good, even if the gun isn't aligned with the base ;)
I do like the natural, earthy colours you picked, not to mention the extensive weathering.

Sigur-they're officially 28mm,but much like GW, they're closer to 30mm in some cases. They are however real-scale, so they look smaller.

Very cool, like the blue! The basework and the weathering is superb!
