View Full Version : my hordes and warmachine log

08-03-2010, 09:14
i've decided to do a seperate my privateer press stuff from my skaven log.A friend at work showed me his no quater mag one dinner and then i went home and did some lookins around on here then the pp website and liked what i saw after borrowing all the books and reading all the fluff i'm hooked had a few games now and like the the games play so this will be a log off my painting i'm starting with circle for hordes and will be doing khador for warmachine
my warlock baldur stonecleaver
wip argus
and my next project gnarlthorn satyr
plus i have some more bits on order from malestrom

08-03-2010, 17:25
Very nice and clean. Excellent effects on the glowy bits. Baldur is especially spiffy.

08-03-2010, 18:30
I don't usually like warmachines miniatures, but these looks great. I will be following this thread :)

10-03-2010, 14:12
quick update finished the argus
got these through the post yesterday but they had to split the order so no paint to start the satyr. So i've started on the shifting stones, dependent on the mail i'll probably do krugar next i'm trying out a wet pallete at the mo to see if this improves my painting skills
cheers for the comments glad someone other than my wife likes what i'm doing

11-03-2010, 10:15
Nice work. I especially like the Wolds with their crisp and clean colours.

Looking forward to see Kruegar. The flowing clothing should be excellent for wetblending - though I'd hazard all those folds are going to drive you nuts if it's your first time ;)

(and now I see why you were very interested in foresty foilage :p )

11-03-2010, 12:38
Very nice. Especially like the Wyrd.

11-03-2010, 16:19
That last guy, reaching out for a hug, looks rly awesome. Is it some 40k-ish?

I'm crazy about the green colour on the worldwatcher btw

11-03-2010, 19:08
Nope that's Krueger, one of the Circle warlocks. Definitely Hordes.

11-03-2010, 21:53
keravrin:-thank you

hrafn:- the wet pallet's not going so well cant get the water right but i'll keep trying

localiciou:- like keravin said thats krugar the stormwrath the arcane master of the circle orboros used him for the first time tonight with good results

loveless:- nice to have your approvall

ancre:- thank you

12-03-2010, 12:34
I absolutely love warmachine models! The sculpts are fantastic, I have been doing a few commissions for these and they are excellent models to work with!

I really like your work and am looking forward to seeing more :D

14-03-2010, 13:54
little update finished the stones and moved on to kruger this was my third atempt at him i just could't get the robes right so i split him in half which made it a lot easyer

14-03-2010, 16:03
awesome work - keep it coming

14-03-2010, 18:46
Krueger's looking good. I like your subtle highlight/shade style.

Did you end up wet blending him despite the troubles with the palette?

14-03-2010, 19:02
i'll have to say i tryed wet bending to start with but it seemed to turn out flat with no depth so like i said i tryed again and again.I had a flick through the interweb theres so many differant ways of blending but found a way of useing two brushes one to apply and a moist brush to feather it down,.So i tryed feathering the paint into a blend seems to work out the wet palette works really good if i screw up i've still got the original mix there to sort out the mistakes with

21-03-2010, 00:23
looking good, i am paticualy looking foward to any of the warmachine stuff you will be doing, assuming that this log is still active :)

21-03-2010, 15:21
dont worry kormas she's alive and well i try and do a up date every week but some times work and the weather get in the way so new update
i've finished kruger i'm still not sure about the cloak.I had a game on friday night and kruger had a barny with a carnivien and my satyr and got a chip on the collar of his cloak. As you can see i'm crap at eyes i always ruin the face when i do eyes
made a start on the satyr flesh got some new p3 paints to try and i'm very impressed so far'in the package i got a blackclad wayfarer (below) this should prove interesting because i not the best at painting black but i want to do him mainly black
and finely just for you kormas i did start this little fella on thursday night i've also got some widowmakers but i'm consentrating more on my hordes army at the moment but there will be more

thanks for looking and advice or critisim is well taken

22-03-2010, 19:42
Nice! I especially like the skin on the Satyr. Looking forward to seeing it.

Kreuger is also nice and turned out cool. However, his fleshtone seem a little bit too reddish IMHO. Have you tried glazing the skin?

Good luck with the black. I have always hated black too - it's so damn fiddly a colour to get to look right...(but looking forward to seeing him nonetheless :) )

23-03-2010, 03:19
glad the log is alive :).

lookign foward to seeing the warmachine guy fully painted ;) (is it the butcher, just started warmachine myself so i am a little fuzzy on all the characters :))

the skin on the satyr (as mentioned before) is really good :)

27-03-2010, 14:28
time for a little update finished the satyr last night.
Thanks for the comments i've got to admit i found the skin a bit scary to do i usually shy away from big minis i used to prefering big units or a hord style army for warhammer .PP do too many fantastic monsters and jacks i'm like a child in a sweet shop and i do want it all.But after the wayfarer its some druids
yes komas that is the butcher the first pp mini i bought 99p on ebay
as an after thought you might find some skorne popping up on here in the near future

27-03-2010, 23:41
I really like the green of the colour scheme, they all look very nice. Great work.

01-04-2010, 17:27
Nice classic color scheme for Circle. Very clean. Good work!

02-04-2010, 10:00
wow, he turned out really good :), the skin is really well dont have to say, better than anything i have managed to do :p.

deffinatly looking foward to seeing the butcher up and running :).

05-04-2010, 22:29
sorry no pics been away for a family get together i did start the druids and the wayfarer i'm painting them all at the same time unfortunately i didn't like the green on the buthcher so i'm trying coal black instead like the kommandos in the new no quater mag will try and post some pics soon thanks for looking

06-04-2010, 19:39
Very nice, very clean minis. Glad to see another WM plog around here. We need more of these on Warseer.

11-04-2010, 10:19
These are very well done, I also like seeing Warmachine logs.

Good job!

11-04-2010, 19:37
The Satyr turned out real nice. Nice subtle blending as usual, and the skintone looks good not only in itself, but also compared to the rest.

One thing strikes me when I see your pics, though. Have you tried highlightning the gold a little bit more? It's not that the gold does not look good, but IMHO it looks a bit flat compared to the rest pf the mini..

Have fun with the Druids. They are one of the minis I'd like to paint among the Circle minis.

11-04-2010, 20:42
hrafn the pictures arn't the best if you could see the modle its got two layers of highlights but you cant really see it on the pics

unfortunatly theres no update because while packing away after my game i got the foam caught on my belt and commited the sin of sins all my minis ended up on the floor so unfortunaly i'm in the process of cleaning and reglueing and repainting them sorry for the delay in posting new stuff

14-04-2010, 18:50
hrafn the pictures arn't the best if you could see the modle its got two layers of highlights but you cant really see it on the pics

A pity :( Well, I have had problems with getting gold/copper to appear right in photos as well, so I sympethize wholeheartedly!

17-04-2010, 17:22
finally after 3 weeks with family visits out of the way and me trying to destroy every thing i've done so far i finally have my druids painted
his eyes dont look that bad its the picture
well i say done i've just noticed that i haven't done the handle on the voluge will remedy that later
well what else i've not quit finished the wayfarer i'm strugling with the cloak a bit next on the agenda is mohsar and a pureblood warp wolf and the butcher stalled as well didn't like the black either i think i will go back to thornwood green again

17-04-2010, 19:56
Very nice druids! The wood on the glaives are particularly good..

24-04-2010, 14:01
well its update time again first off is an early birthday present from my mate lanyssa ryssyl couldnt let him down so i have painted her ready for tommorows game against his legion should be fun
next up is my new warlock mohsar the desert walker with krugar taking a bath in solvent at the moment(see previous post) i thought i would try someone differant
the painting tables looking full at the moment finaly decided what i'm doing with the wayfarer so should have that to show you next week had a change of mind with warmachine and going back to my original choice of menoth so the butchers well and trully on hold for the time being with other things moving to the front my wife's ordered my birthday present for me so megalith is on the way with vindictus.
until next time thanks for looking

24-04-2010, 18:36
Two thumbs up!

24-04-2010, 19:18
Looking good. The alternative colour scheme on Lanyssa is working really well - cool! :)

26-04-2010, 17:18
That is a kick-ass Lanyssa - and the druids are ace.

Nice work, basher.

26-04-2010, 22:40
Nice looking Circle.

28-04-2010, 21:23
Well, after much deliberation i have decided to plant a post on ya plog.

Its all really good stuff mate, was right chuffed with what ya done with Lasagne:D And the battle of the birthday prezzies is worth a mention on the last game, lol, or not:rolleyes:
well, i told you before, ya stuff always well painted, but you need to have a bit more patients when it come to the face..... You can do it, just have faith!!

Oh, btw, my warmonger war chief has nicked some of your guys armour, even though I havn't fielded him yet.

Keep up the awesome work, dude!!

30-04-2010, 13:06
well to start off with i'd like to thank you all for the kind comments its been a busy week and i've got a fair bit done i've i finished of mohsar
and i've finaly finished off the blackclad wayfarer
got to admit i just ink washed the cloak and drybrushed in the end it was giving me a headace
plus i've painted a sentry stone and some manikins a quick and easy paint job for a change but the manikins were a pain to keep together the left arm kept falling off and theres nothing to pin into
and finally the start of my menoth army grand scrutator severius

30-04-2010, 16:57
just a quick post to plug my mates plog
http://www.warseer.com/forums/showth...68#post4619668 Legion of Everblight Plog

30-04-2010, 17:16
Your Mohsar is nice, but your Severius is excellent. Your red is very crisp.

30-04-2010, 17:33
yeh i'm not a big fan of painting white so the maine colour for my menoth army will be red with with a splash of white

30-04-2010, 17:42
Your red does look really good. Your gold looks awesome too.

30-04-2010, 18:14
just a quick post to plug my mates plog
http://www.warseer.com/forums/showth...68#post4619668 Legion of Everblight Plog

Cheers mate!

I agree. Nice crisp colours. getting the red trim down the scarf thingy must have been a pain.
Keep it up, always nice to play against well painted warbands and armies, its half the pleasure.

08-05-2010, 18:21
right update time only the one mini this week i've had to give myself a kick up the **** i've got into the time old tradition of glueing every thing together undercoating it all then starting it all and getting no where so from now one thing at a time
first up epic kruger my fav circle warlock mini been on the bench for a while part painted

got a nice bonuse in my paycheck this month so i've put a rather large order in with mealstrom this week
will have give it to my wife when it comes and tell her to give me one thing at a time:evilgrin:
next week i hope to have pendrake and a dervish finished

08-05-2010, 18:47
Give em to me, mate. They'll be harder to get hold of:shifty:

Kruger looks good!!

15-05-2010, 15:01
bit of a bigger update than last week got plenty done during the week first
up is pendrake i do like this model and he's become the must have for games
but got to admit didn't exactly enjoy painting him but he's done now(or for the time been)

now for some more warmachine my first ever jack a dervish i realy enjoyed
painting this lots of fun,i'm trying to keep my menoth stuff to a small pallett
of colours they seem to work well i like that its a contrast to the busy
circle minatures there will be plenty more menoth stuff coming got a
bargin last night.
http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/menoth/5.gif http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/menoth/6.gif

bit more menoth my birthday prezie of my son vice scrutator vindictus
i really like this mini and thought i'd done a really good job till i saw it on the
computer he needs some tyding up here and there

and last but no means lest i thought i'd show you my little army in the display case

15-05-2010, 17:14
Very nice. The red looks good and the way you done the gold is very complimentary.
Two thumbs up on Pendrakes face btw.
Keep up the good work!!

15-05-2010, 17:20
Love the models. Love the painting. It's making me feel that i should really get moving with my trollbloods and circle starter packs

Keep up the good work.

The boyz
15-05-2010, 17:33
Excellent stuff basher. Just been through your plog and I'm very impressed. I particularly like the PoM bits and pieces. The red and gold look very well done.

22-05-2010, 21:54
time for an update been a busy boy this week got my **** whiped on monday
with a faild assination run on absylonia with krugar mind you he survied attacks from 3 nyss swordsmen and an angelius before aby finished him off
lots of fun though first time i've fielded two heavys mind you a lot off bad dice rolling screwed it up for me well heres my pureblood warpwolf been on the painting table for about 2 months had the same problem as the satyr got scarred of the skin.I think that its one of my fav minis so i kind of copied pp's
colours and last a warwolf not my best work but when ever i have a game i'm always 1 point over or under

22-05-2010, 22:27
Ya warwolf looks a lot better than the last time i saw it. Love the mini in general, good job!
The warpwolf looks good too, mate. A few glazes on the claws n spines may just bring the different highlights together a bit better though. All in all, GREAT!!!!! :)

27-05-2010, 22:05
sorry people no update for a couple weeks best man at a wedding this weekend then on my hols for a week

20-06-2010, 11:41
dont worry people this blog isnt over i've just been a bit lazy and busy with work by the time i get home from work all i want to do is fall over and die.I got a big parcle from maelstom before i went away and i've put most of it together and sprayed it all up so now its just the painting that needs doing.
I have found some time to do some painting started the bloodweavers before i went on holiday but i've got to say i really didn't enjoy painting these and i think it shows in the pics these were really bad for mould lines i thought i got them all but as the picture shows i didnt
i'll baybe strip them and have another go later but for the time been theres lots of other things to do
heres my work in progress on some woldstalkers

20-06-2010, 19:34
Nice work as always!

The Pureblood in particular is very good. The white skin is very well done, especially as white IMHO isn't the easiest to work with.
The Warwolf looks good, but perhaps a bit flat on the dark brown skin? (or is it the camera screwing with me again? ;) )
Don't be too hard yourself with the Blood Weavers. They look quite good. The handiwork might be a bit below your usual standart, but the selection and execution of colours are very nice. Besides, don't we all have a unit or two which is not as well done as we might like ;)

20-06-2010, 22:19
Leave the bloodweavers for a while and come back to them after you have painted somthing bigger. i think a bit of shading here and there and fine lining will do them the world of good. You have some good crisp lines to work with. but don't forget that its a unit and they always look better as a unit than individually.

26-06-2010, 18:02
Thank you very much for the comments gentlemen i'm thinking off grimeing up the blood weavers with the blood technique in metamrophosis on the incubi.
had a game today against trolls and had 5 assination runs fail whats the odds, and how hard dose mulg hit killed megalith with a punch and two swings off that tree he uses as a club will have to be more carfull next time. Was a really good game i wish wintermute would hurry up and sort the pp section out so we have separate sections like the gw ones so we can put some battle reports on.
any way time for this weeks painting got my stoneward and woldstalkers finished i dont what it is about photos but they always make the minis look worse than they actually are take the stoneward with his missing right eye and his freaky left eye dosn't look that bad when your looking at the mini

at the momment i'm on with something big and stoney

28-06-2010, 14:54
Would that be the big pile of rubble that Mulg created on Saturday? :D

11-07-2010, 17:25
feels like forever ago that i posted but never the less here we go.Been really busy at work doing long hours so i'm not really getting much painting done got plenty off reading done thou got my new cards and the mercs book which has had a bad effect on me so i was a naughty boy and indulged. So in the not to distant future you will have the pleasure of McBain,Dannon,Bull and boom howler with plans for a nomad and a mule at some point but for now i've still got a load of circle stuff to paint and build and with more things coming on pre order i'm going to be skint.Oh privateer how you spoil me, but for now heres my woldwarden and at some point soon i hope i'll have megalith finished and on here for your pleasure

Ludwig von Rictoven
21-07-2010, 13:12
really lovely looking circle models. can't wait to get mine through the post after seeing your thread. Good stuff

21-07-2010, 15:13
Very very nice painting. Your displayed stuff looks particularly impressive. Five for these!

24-07-2010, 18:01
Thanks you lugwig hope you have as much fun as i've had

warflag: Very very nice painting. Your displayed stuff looks particularly impressive. Five for these!
i hope thats out of 5 and not ten:D thank you

Right time for the update was away last weekend so i didnt get any painting done but i finnaly finnished megalith this week after the woldwarden
i was a bit fed up with painting grey nearly gave up and moved on to something else but i power on through and finnished him no more constructs for a bit the wold guardian will just have to wait

http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/17.gif http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/18.gif

and i've done this a test pieace for my temple flamegaurd, i've done a differant base to the old ones and i've changed the way i do the red and white

i'm on with my gattor posse at the mo and Drake Mc Bain so hopefully i'll be able to give u another update soon

25-07-2010, 21:10
Your clean style of painting really shines on those Wolds. Megalith is very cool!(though I still find the pose on that mini quite silly ;) )

25-07-2010, 22:13
cheers hrafn yeh i dont espcially like the pose i thought it would be a bigger mini.I actually got a mate to pin him for me i'd just done the woldwarden witch is a **** to fit together and kromack were the arms dont quite go were you want them to fit then started megalith. His legs wouldnt sit straight the bodys hollow so it dosent sit straight was loosing my rag a bit so i gave it to a mate rather than throw it at a wall.

26-07-2010, 13:03
Megalith looks good, 3 Thumbs up to ya mate for doing an awesome job of pinning him together.:)

31-07-2010, 12:16
i've been a busy boy this week the family went away for 5 days so it was a case of work, shower, eat, paint for 5 days so for you this week i have the wolves of orboros with unit attachment and a gattormen posse wanted some heavy infantry but i dont like the tharn ravagers minis or rules so bought some gattormen instead.these were bougt before the skinwalkers images came out and yes there on pre order

31-07-2010, 12:20
double post this week i've also got Drake Mc Bain done wanted to do something differant with the base's of my mercs but now i've looked at it i'm not so sure

31-07-2010, 12:47
The problem with Drake's base is there doesn't seem to be much connection to him. Especially as he's out with short sleeves in snow. Yes I know he's hard, but...

08-08-2010, 13:50
right a little update for you been a slow week again back on long shifts as well as been moved to a new department to shake it up and get running right, so i'm getting a bit tired on a night so not much getting done on the painting front but the long shifts are only for a couple of weeks.but i have got my gorax painted useing a new way off painting for me.Finally got all my back issues of no quater except 1,2,3,4 and 12 and i found the gamers journal with matt di piettro ron kruzie and a couple of others, in issue 18 he describes his wash painting style starting with a white primer washing the highlight then washing in the shadow and i've been very surprised with the results. If you look closely you'll see where my 3 year old son took him out of the cabinet and drop him so i had to do a bit of patching up he cant have been imperessed with the painting:p and its the first time he's shown any interest in them but i dont think he'll be touching them again i screamed that loud even the wife and dog ducked for cover

08-08-2010, 14:29
Damn that is a hideous mini... *sigh* If only his rules weren't so nice.
Love your circle force, some beautiful work throughout.

You're not the only one keen to grab a unit of Skinwalkers ;)

08-08-2010, 20:53
got them pre ordered

yeh your right it is one ugly mini but very usefull on the table love the new art work in primal mk2 though wish the mini looked like that

09-08-2010, 06:11
If anything needed a resculpt it'd be the Gorax.
That and the stupid Epic Baldur sculpt...
"Eek! A spider!"
But you've done a good job of that too :)

10-08-2010, 19:50
+1 for the comments on the Gorax -well painted, nice on the tabletop and such a hideous mini :cries:

I ain't looking forward to junior getting so big he can figure out how to reach the cabinets either! The combination of groping juvenile hands and minis just don't mix very well ;) (nice repair, though!)

16-08-2010, 20:00
I take it you meant epic Krueger? I don't get the eKrueger hate, I think it's a wonderful mini, it's got great movement and style. Loving your stuff basher, I've taken some tips ready to paint my circle.

Ludwig von Rictoven
16-08-2010, 20:41
McBaine & the crocs look awesome nice to see some merc/minion loving

Do you get to play much? What part of Yorkshire you from?

16-08-2010, 22:17
got to say aladin ekruger is my fav warlock mini forcircle hate the original even though i've got him and mohsar's cool to but just cant seem to get my head around painting kromac yet although i do really really want to get my hands on cassius now and it not that i'm sexeist i just dont like morvanna or kaya

ludwig dont get to play as much as i'd like family and work (and there stupid new flexable hour), but i get the odd game in now and then i live in northallerton in between thirsk and darlington

30-08-2010, 12:52
I like your style man, almost could see them come to life in a bad ass privateer press cartoon

01-09-2010, 21:05
....... and it not that i'm sexeist i just dont like morvanna or kaya

Dunno why, I quite like the mini's myself, Perhaps its because you rather paint a codpiece than a hefty chest;)

Some great stuff mate, much better in the flesh. I do like the way the shadows play on the gorax.

01-09-2010, 21:37
i do really really want to get my hands on cassius

Oh baby! :p

Nice work - your Gatormen are a highlight for me, simple, but very nice.

MacBain is very neat and clean looking, a bit comic-book-ish - nice stuff.

04-09-2010, 16:16
finally i've got the The lord of the feast finished this guys been sat on my painting table for what seems like an age. i was going to redo the hood because i felt it blended with his skin but i did a good job on it so i left it
oh yeh and i've figerd out i hate painting bone

http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/31.gif http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/32.gif

new project sort of when i first strarted hords my first faction was going to be skorne but i went for circle (i like a challenge:shifty:)but when the force book came out and i got it (well i plan to get them all ) i was flicking through ebay and found the starter pack so i couldnt resist and got it cheep, really cheep not sure how i'm going to paint them but i do like the way ron kruize painted his so i'm kind of ripping him off so heres my test mini i dont really like morgouhl that much so it was a bit slap bash (well it is a test piece)

i was in the middle of painting my flame guard but i've got a bit fed up with them so i've moved on to something else for the time been need some motivation

04-09-2010, 16:36
Very nice. I like the Skorn color you chose.
Did you follow my advice about the feast dude? its hard to tell with the pics.

04-09-2010, 18:35
eeerrrrrr no will get round to it though

04-09-2010, 19:27
Really nice skin on the Lord of the Feast! Excellent paintjob overall too! (but don't you miss painting his fingernails? ;) )

The Skorne scheme is good. The only thing which I might reconsider is the skin tone. Perhaps a little too reddish? IMHO, a colder one like purplish or bluish would fit better. Either that, or a less saturated red...

15-09-2010, 18:15
here we go again in my last post i said i'd given up on the flameguard well i got them back out and finished them a bit rushed in the end but i'm glad there done

now for the other thing i started my warpwolf stalker enjoyed painting him

http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/34.gif http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/36.gif

and i have painted the fingernails on the lord of the feast but forgot to take a pic so you'll have to take my word for it:p

15-09-2010, 18:23
The Warpwolf Stalker is suberb. The metal and the skin is as usual excellent.

The Flameguard are nice, but I can't help thinking that the shade on the red clothing is perhaps a little to dark? It looks very stark on the pics.

15-09-2010, 19:33
thanks hrafn i really enloyed painting him only problem is if i handle his ears when i pick him up the paint rubs back down to the primer need some good matt varnish the flmaguard is actually a really **** pic it dosn't look that bad irl its a wash off gw regal blue with a touch of black was thinking of cutting out the black on my next menoth mini

15-09-2010, 20:02
Really like the gold/green on the Stalker. I've been using purple washes on red and then rehighlighting to get a richer colour.

16-09-2010, 07:50
I usually use a brown wash to shade red, yellow to highlight and then glaze the basecolour for cloth/armour etc, but we all paint our own way. Depends whats being painted, coz I'm still trying to get a "fresh-pot-of-blood" red effect to look good.
Good to see the stalker with its arm on, great job

25-09-2010, 13:06
something differant this time around me and a couple of mates are starting malifaux
i was captured by the cool minis and use of cards instead of dice
i will be starting out with the resurrectionists mainly Dr Douglas McMourning
so i've bought the body thieves box set i've finished (well nearly need to do the blood splatter just waiting for some tamiya clear red) McM and sebastian well thought i had till i saw the photos

http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/Douglas-McMorninig.gif http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/McMorning-back.gif

sebastian the morgue assistant
http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/sebastian.gif http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/sebastian-back.gif

these look a lot a lot better irl

25-09-2010, 14:48
McMourning and Sebastian look good so far. McMourning would look better if his teeth were painted though.
Can't wait to see them with gore splatter.

25-09-2010, 15:44
his teeth are painted it just looks **** in the photo

25-09-2010, 16:18
Ooops. soz. looks like his skin colour.

26-09-2010, 11:53
Cool to see some more Malifaux on here.

10-10-2010, 16:39
been realy busy with work and the weathers not been the best for photos so i havn't posted for a couple of weeks been playing a bit of malifaux couple of draws and a complete pasting.i've fond out the body theives set isnt the best to start with the nurse's arnt the best so i've got some dogs and bits coming

i did actually finish my flesh construct a couple of days after my last post but didnt get it on due to the weather. The zombie chihuahua took about 45 mins to do, next to epic i think he's the smallest mini i've ever painted just for ste i went back over McMs teeth with a black wash

http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/revamp-McM.gif http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/flesh-construct.gif

and i havn't left out warmahords got my wilder and stonekeeper last week so i painted up the wilder used her the other week and she got a bomb droped on her head bloody troll bomber

and i've had another look at my skorne and finnished of hexeris not bad i think just need something on the base was thinking some dead grass seen as he's ment to be on the edge of a desert

next on the list is hopfully finishing the nurses then theres a piangiver taskmaster

10-10-2010, 18:05
Aww, thanks Bash, lol.
Some nice stuff here, I do like yur Skorne colours.

15-10-2010, 15:42
got a couple of things to put on here but unfortunatly its raining again so hope fully tomorrow or sunday

17-10-2010, 18:53
bit over cast todat but got some photos so first up my stone keeper

and my paingiver task master

http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/40.gif http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/41.gif

when i first saw both of these minis i wasn't sure about them but after taking the plunge and buying them i think its just the way pp painted them

18-10-2010, 18:52
Nice as always :)

Also good to see some Malifaux minis. I got to get some soon - won't ever get to play with them, but I'd like to paint more than a few of them :)

My only gripe is that the skintone on McMourning and Sebastian looks a tad too reddish. Perhaps a glaze of the base skin colour could tone it a little down?

18-10-2010, 18:58

I know what you mean, Hrafn. But they don't look that bad in RL. It is a good skin tone, suit's McMourning's ginger hair;)

18-10-2010, 19:02
Speaking on that guys base. I put grey rocks on my reddish dirt cryx guys and it looks pretty good. Breaks up the monocolor pretty well. Dead grass of course is always good.

20-10-2010, 16:35
Think that's the first Stonekeeper I've seen painted up. Nice work on the gem on the front.

02-11-2010, 00:22
sorry i've not updated in a while been full of cold and really not in the mood to paint.

i've had a change of heart with the menoth and sold what i had and bought the new cryx starter set.

but dont worry my mate thats bought them is still wanting me to paint them and more for a tornement next year so they will more than likely end up on here for your viewing pleasure any way along with his blindwater stuff.

hopefully i will have my skinwalkers on here at the weekend

cheers for the kind words it helps me keep focused

Saul Tarvitz
02-11-2010, 01:32
Looking forward to seeing your Skinwalkers mate, not seen many painted examples of them up on the intertubes yet.

02-11-2010, 22:03
I know what you mean, Hrafn. But they don't look that bad in RL. It is a good skin tone, suit's McMourning's ginger hair;)

I'll take your word for it :) I didn't think it looked that bad either - it was just a small thing which caught my eye..

Looking forward to see the Skinwalkers too!

13-11-2010, 12:58
well finally i got some pics done.I did finish them last weekend but it's rained every day since so i've had to wait, should sort a light box out at some point really. i have been trying out some schemes for cryx i wanted to stick with the grey colour but it was't working so i tryed something differant.Didn't like any of them either so i went with a style i dont use a lot and drybrushed, i'm not one for drybrushing but needs must, i should have my fist deathripper done soon for you lot but for now

http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/43.gif http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/44.gif

13-11-2010, 16:30
Those wolf guys are such cool models. Pricey though. I need the economy to pick back up so I can get more toy soldiers.

13-11-2010, 19:38
Nice Skinwalkers. Probably the best the armour scheme has looked as well.

13-11-2010, 20:58
Yeah they look really impressive - are you going to be getting and painting Cassius?

13-11-2010, 23:57
I really like these models. Who knows, maybe I'll be tempted to paint up some of my own (HAHA! That'll take years!)

With regards,

14-11-2010, 09:26
Nice Skinwalkers. Probably the best the armour scheme has looked as well.

i dont think there's much differance between the faction models it's just that the skinwalkers armour is so big it stands out more

Yeah they look really impressive - are you going to be getting and painting Cassius?

yes i've allready got him on pre-order. cant wait i think it will be a drop everything and get him painted, straight to the front off the cue

I really like these models. Who knows, maybe I'll be tempted to paint up some of my own (HAHA! That'll take years!)

With regards,

they didn't take that long to do actually there prety straight forward mini's to paint it's just that i've been ill and doing quit a bit of gameing to help a mate sort out his list for the vapnartak tornie.

will be posting again later got my deathripper finished last night had plenty off motivation the wife was watching take that so i went in the other room and listend to some proper music and got him finnished a long with some scenery thats been sat around for ages half done

14-11-2010, 17:57
so hears the deathripper and some scenary i did 8 of these of differant sizes.

http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/2-1.gif http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/3-1.gif

http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/4.gif http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/5.gif

14-11-2010, 18:28
All very nice as usual :)

The Skinwalkers are very good. Nice, clean painting as usual on awesome minis. Cool! :)

The Deathripper is good, too. I like the metal effect on the large armour plates. Are they drybrushed?

14-11-2010, 19:18
yeh did try blending and layering but couldn't get it right was going to give up but then thought give drybrushing a go.Dont uaually like to do a lot of drybrushing unless its metallic but i thought it looked good kind of suited the cryx minis

28-11-2010, 18:23
right i have finished the rest of the cryx battlebox aswell as a pistol wraith i will post them when i can but due to the crap weather (it's white and wet) i'm strugling with photos. i got cassius and wurmwood on thursday and put them together based and primed but at the momment i'm painting a wold guardian thats been sat around for a while.but i still cant get in the mood for kromac. But the new circle book has got me in the mood again so i've ordered kaya and laris, as well as nuala just means i'll have to get some blood trackers next pay day.

02-12-2010, 17:36
ok now for some pictures finally the pics arn't the best due to cold and shaky hands but here we go i'll start with the cryx battle box and pistol wraith

02-12-2010, 17:41
and now for my new circle stuff just for chris tzeench i did take a few pics off cassius from differant angles but my hands were freezing by then and the pics were rubbish

http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/50.gif http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/49.gif

and my woldguardian painted this in just over a day which is very very fast for me seen as i get easly distracted

http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/47.gif http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/48.gif

02-12-2010, 20:18
That Wold Guaridan is amazingly good. It's so crisp and clean, great job. Love Cassius to.

02-12-2010, 20:26
Cheers for Cassius! I still haven't assembled mine - great stuff! Love the Wold Guardian too.

12-12-2010, 20:11
Time for some more cryx. Thanks to midscala for pointing out a how to photo blog got some photos done this afternoon, in doors that dont look to rubish.Think i might have to make a light box though.

Gerlak Slaughterborn

Bile thralls to think when i started privateer i hated these models now i think there awsome

12-12-2010, 21:01
Youre very welcome. Bile thralls look good. Maybe paint the trim on Gerlacks armor gold though? Perhaps some crusty old blood too. I'm digging the glowing robes on the pistol wraiths as well. I just got some, I think I'm going to greenstuff one a cowboy hat.

12-12-2010, 22:16
did the gold to start with and didn't like that much so i went over it.Will more than likely do the gold on the bloodgorgers but depends how it looks it seems to royal/regal to me mental for mental canibal trolls.

20-12-2010, 20:23
for my latest up dae i have the winter shadow combine loved these models the first time i saw them so they were always going to added to any cryx force i did

http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/15-1.gif http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/16-1.gif

up next could be any thing my workbench is getting rather full at the momment.i've put nightmare together i'm on with a seether theres a warwich sieren and a few bits for dystopian wars and uncharted seas as well as some malifaux thats been sat there for about 4 months

24-12-2010, 09:26
well i've been having fun with denny but most of the people i play use hords so i just had to get lich lord venethrax

http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/18-1.gif http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/19-1.gif

11-01-2011, 22:44
i'm going through what can only be described as painters block at the mo so i've been glueing and priming my back log and christmas stuff so we have

6 blood gorgers
1 warwich sieren
kaya and laris
shadowhorn satyre

and still cant bring myself to paint kromac and now nuala i think i just dont like painting tharn

11-01-2011, 23:32
I've got a seether on the painting line too man. Awesome model. I gotta paint some other stuff cause I joined a league but I can't wait to get to him. Going to do a water base on him I think.

14-01-2011, 22:47
Loving the Withershadow Combine. What Dystopian wars faction are you doing?

15-01-2011, 08:46
prussians when maelstrom get them in i,ve only been waiting two months now

15-01-2011, 09:20
Wow, I really like your super-clean and thorough style of painting, and your color schemes are profoundly cool.

20-01-2011, 12:14
Just read through the entire plog - some great stuff here!!! Loving the Circle minis.

I've just been told Maelstrom have dispatched my Dystopian Wars Prussian fleet, so hopefully we'll see yours on here soon!

06-02-2011, 17:16
Well i finally got some stuff painted from my list, been doing some commision work just lately and long shifts so havn't been in the mood. But i have got the bloodgorgers done and i'm half way through the seether and nightmare thanks to some insperation from mdiscala.Chris i finally got fed up with waiting for maestrom so i've given up and got some more privateer stuff i'll get some dystopian stuff when some of the lads at the club do.Been to a geek fest today and spent a small fortune the small list i had is now a bit bigger i think i've got an addiction.

06-02-2011, 17:25
Amazing stuff!! Really like the Cryx!

06-02-2011, 20:05
Ooooh.... nice work mate! They look quite mean

06-02-2011, 21:09
Nice evil trolls. You go to Vapnartak then?

06-02-2011, 22:15
There are worse addictions you can have. Still think that the Blood Gorgers need some dried blood on their armor. Like you said, mental cannibals wouldn't wear gold, but they probably wouldn't clean their armor either.

06-02-2011, 22:25
Nice evil trolls. You go to Vapnartak then?

yeh had a good wander round spent a small fortune at the travling man stand.some of the guys from the club were in the warmachine tornie i could't be arsed (still a bit knackered from a lot of early starts) i deffinatly want to have a go in a warmachine tornament though maybee next year

i think other addictions would be cheeper.to be honest i dont like dirtying up my minis dont know why it just suits some like malifaux resurectionists and my bloodgorgers havn't killed much so they'd still be clean

15-02-2011, 21:34
yep more cryx first up to go with mdiscala's seether he did the other week my seether

and next dennys pet the nightmare, love this model lots of fun to paint

up next is a stalker and a warwitch siren

15-02-2011, 23:41
We should give our two Seethers a play date. I saw you posted on the PP forums but I thought I'd comment here instead as PP logs don't seem to get much love on Warseer. Looks real good. Nice job on the glow.

17-02-2011, 20:04

cheers mdiscala its nice to get some feedback

i dont like flying my first flight was 16 hours long freaked me out had to be asked to go to the front of the plane out of the way of the other passengers so i didn't scare them.So the chance of a play date is slim but i do want to go to gencon one year looks so much cooler than what i've seen over hear (big fat smelly men cramped into a small space )

18-02-2011, 19:07
Great jacks. Especially Nightmare. Clear and crisp as always :)

Though I must admit that I think your style fitted Circle better. I don't know, to me it just seems like the Circle minis are just that tad better. Sorry!

19-02-2011, 10:41

no need to appolgize:mad::D hrafn i wanted to do something diffeant with the cryx.I find when i paint circle it take's what feels like an age to get one finnished and then i find i've got a back log off things to paint. So i decided i wanted a change and cryx just looked the right ones to me (the menoth mins can be a bit to detailed) so instead of blending and layering i went for drybrushing and inks. It took me 5 nights (about an hour or just over each night) to paint both those jacks and the only back log i've got is the deathjack, warwitch siren, and a reaper and malice(that i'll paint together)for cryx and reeve hunter, ekaya and shadowhorn for my circle. For the next project i'm going to try matt dipietro's under painting from the last no quarter

Ah, I see. That explains something - I guess it's the chalky drybrushed look which irked me subconsciously. I don't know, that drybrush look is just so damn distinctive, and I ..

Alas, they are very good for what is essentially speed-painting! ;)

I was very intrigued by that painting article as well. At the moment, I can't really do any spray painting (winter weather and no room inside), so please do tell us about the results!:)

27-02-2011, 17:22
time for a update done a bit off painting

first up a stalker bonejack enjoyed painting this guy

http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/22-1.gif http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/23-1.gif

unfortunatly after the stalker i started my warwitch siren and rengrave and got fed up so i dumped rengrave and tryed to concentrate on the warwitch but in the end i rushed her because i was sick off the sight of her and moved on to something else dystopian (check out my other plog)

up next should be malice and a reaper

27-02-2011, 22:07
cant believe its been so long since i last commented :s lol

i love the cryx :), keep up the good work :)

27-02-2011, 22:23
I think the warwitch turned out fine. Its a good job on highlighting the black without it looking too gray.

28-02-2011, 10:41
thanks guys

20-03-2011, 15:16
right big update havn't hag a camera for a couple weeks but got it back now so time to put some pics on.I'll start with cryx a bit of disapointment from my angle i cant sit and paint the same thing time and time again, after doing the seether and nightmare i should have done something differant but i wanted the reaper for some games (if it isnt painted you cant play it house rule) so i thought i'd do malice at the same time and got a bit bored and rushed them and i think it shows

http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/26-1.gif http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/25-1.gif

so i've taken a break from cryx at the mo so the deathjack can wait for a week. But i have been doing these instead they've have been sat in the cabinet for nearly a year so i thought it was time to put some paint on them

http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/1-2.gif http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/ac31/bashlad/2-2.gif

on the painting table i now have a titan gladiadtor some ralgaurd for uncharted seas then i think i'll give the deathjack a go

20-03-2011, 19:53
Nice painting as always on the Cryx (God, that head on Malice is ugly in all the wrong ways!)
But for me, it's the Skorne which really pops out. Crisp and clear painting on the Shaman looks good with all the details on that mini. The Savage is a moody piece - menacing and dark, but still very skornish. nice :)

05-04-2011, 21:48
right for this update the lasy of the battle box i got of ebay the titan gladiator got to admit was a bit lazy on this the person who put this together did a bad job but i couldn't be bothered striping it and putting it back together again so i left it

06-04-2011, 14:18
The Titan looks really good! Is the armour glossy or is it just the pic?

Some of the early Skorne models are a bitch to put together

07-04-2011, 12:27
excellent work on the cyclop's red cloak.

22-04-2011, 17:08
yes farnsworth the black has a coat of gloss on it i've shamlessly pinch the idea from a no quater

cheers mid anyway

marketh and this guy with all the new releases coming out and the fact i've always had a soft spot for ret i got a couple of invictors of ebay to try some paint sceams on to see if i want to carry on with them so

i'm going to do the banding round the back grey and the gun silver pouches brown but i dont have a clue about the swirls and blobs any ideas

23-04-2011, 11:39
Maketh looks suitably regal. Quite tempted to get him to use as a bad guy wizard in a rpg.

Interesting start to the Invictor. You looking to go similar to the NQ alternate scheme?

23-04-2011, 13:29
yeh kind of. dont like the way they did the vedigres so i went for vallejo smoke and i dont want to do the glow green because i've allready done that on my cryx my wife reckons red but i've done a few tests and it isnt going well

23-04-2011, 18:38
Wow... duck people painted gold :D Nice change!

03-05-2011, 19:58
Maketh looks fantastic - I am impressed by all your Skorne actually.

07-05-2011, 18:59
well i havn't been lazy while warseers been down got these guys done

Didnt think the colour sceam through much at the begining after the third layer of green (yes its a jaded marble)i was starting to go spare but i carried on and i like the end result. Was going to get some immortals next but after this i changed my mind and got some nihilators instead.

Saul Tarvitz
14-05-2011, 13:35
Really like your Razorworm, much better than the studio scheme in my opinion - makes it look more like a real creature.

Agreed. Not seen any as good as this one.

How did I miss this thread???

Some really awesome work in here mate, I look forward to the next update :)

26-05-2011, 17:40
thanks for all the positive feed back guys makes me feel good about my painting i have got stuff to put on here but i'm having a few iritating computer problems at the moment so i will update at some point.

ok so i'll tell you what i've got to put on just to keep you interested

we have a void spirit, minimum beast handlers and hakaar the destroyer i'm on with some nihilators at the moment but i dont know what will be ready first computer or minis

29-05-2011, 09:05
well i've pinched my wife laptop while she sleeps in so i can get these up

i've got to say i did a better job on Hakaar than i did on the ancestral guardian you can actually see the green and i've changed the way i painted so it's not four or five highlights.I might get them immortals after some swordsmen.I finally got my birthday present of the wife this week as well revanants and blackbane so i splashed some cash and maxed them out cant wait to get started on them but nihilators first

Saul Tarvitz
29-05-2011, 10:31
Not a fan of the Void Spirit sculpt but you've done a good job of it and the Paingiver Beasthandlers look cracking. Your Hakaar is spectacular, the marble is really well done and the antique bronze really helps add some gravitas to the model - does away with the chubby profile that the studio mini has.

29-05-2011, 14:11
I think your Skorne army is my favorite of what you've done so far. The models really fit your paint style.

08-07-2011, 22:29
just to let you nice people know i've started a new blog
