Dogs!

I find the idea of dogs interesting, but would like to know how other people have got on with them.

Are they a useful part of a gang?

Do their living expenses make them not worthwhile in small gangs?

A small fee - 10 creds or less, usually makes them well worth it, or simply making them count as an eztra member of the gang for the amount of money they make from territories is simple.

If you do introduce "pets" don't make them too powerful - try to keep them around juve price and ability. I had them in my campaign for mascots, not for winning a game single-handedly.

I toyed with using pets in Necromunda, I wanted to include Caryatids :)

One way I thought of running it with pets was to make the "owner" count as a Beastmaster Wyrd in charge of that one Creature, this was just so lots of new rules wouldn't need to be written. Pets could make excellent sentries or help outlaws forage, easiest way to deal with it is to make them count as Hired Guns pay X amount each game, they don't get better, they don't get worse.

Er, I was meaning the dogs as described in the article on the Specialist Games website.

It was in a Fanatic Online, I dont recall which one, but it is available from the back issues downloads section.

Haven't actually used them in game

Scavvies and the enforcers both get dogs

Regular gangs can "win" a Cyber Mastive in the Phanta Claws senario. A gang could "hire"/train a dog using the Scavvy rules, with the exception of the dog has to stay within 18" of a randomly selected owner(this is perminent per each dog) and gains the mastive "Protection" rule and costs round 60 credits. A gang may train 0-2 dogs.

I wasn't aware of those rules, nice, although they'll be pretty limited when it comes to using ladders, better off with a couple of blue batwinged babies I think :D

Yeah, pets don't have to be limited to dogs... the harshest one was probably a ripperjack.

In fareness he was asking about dog not pets. Pets are far more useful than dogs
