View Full Version : True scale pre heresy female space marine!

So I was playing around with some new ideas for true scaling, when I saw this head I had. Now I wanted to use it on guard, but it was way too big, so an idea bulb went off.

And yes, I am totally painting her in a Pre-Heresy scheme when she is done, because that is the icing on the cake here. Not sure which Legion to go for though.

I should consider making her a World Eater marine! I can give her trophies and an exposed muscular arm, like Kharn!

Not trolling man, just think that if you are going to go down the backround heresy that is female marines you might as well do it right.

Its like making a male Adeptus soritas and leaving the female chest armor on.... ether do it right or dont bother is all i am saying, no offence or trolling meant :).

I quite like the pose - firing the plasma pistol whilst advancing, and it takes into consideration the direction the hair's flowing in, I say go for the green stuff!

Hey :-),

the fist needs another angle, more downwards, the thumb more to the viewer. I think it would look more natural then, I wouldn't walk around with a fist opened like this. Other then that go for greenstuffing, although I also miss some kind of "chest" increase. Could only be slightly, but would improve the female feel very much I think.

Actually, I don't care that there is not much of a female feel to the armour. If female marines were possible it would still be about making humans into marines. And gender would not stop the final result looking the same and going into the same kind of armour. Space Marines are monstrous, muscle bound engines of destruction, and I don't want to damage or take that away for the sake of the model's gender.

As for the power fist, I have received a few comments regarding the angle, so I have changed it. It does look better. Much better.

Hawke has half the story. This model is also a bit of a jab at the female marine fans too. But how you ask? Most female marines tend to be pretty girls in shapely armour. So, for their sake I have dolled my own marine up a little...

I think the real issue with female space marines is that if any female recieved as much testosterone as a space marine does, her inny would become an outie. At least this portrays the masculinizing results of the treatments a space marine goes through better than most lady marine conversions.

mr gelmir
13-04-2010, 11:20
not talking about the trolling issue, I have some comments on the model. I'm currently working on some true-scale marines myself, so I couldn't help noticing that the knee area doesn't do the model justice... The edges of the armour need some work.

Whatever they say, I like it

Well, there is a good reason for that. The leg armour hasn't been modded since it was cut apart for reposing since I am still playing with the pose. I will likely sort them out when the upper body is finished.

Heh, enjoying this thread!

But... no boobies?

Boobies!

How can we possibly tell that she's female if she doesn't have skintight and impossibly small power armour moulded to show off her feminine endowments?

So in short, looks good, but needs more boobs.

Mmm, boobies.

I am a rare person, i'm going to say two conflicting things here right now..

Fluffwise - Female Marines don't exist...Geneseed is reserved for the bravest men in the Imperium.

Modelwise - This looks good. I like how she doesn't look like a female marine right off the bat, and only her head reveals she is a woman. Very nice work dude. Also, I like the studded Power fist...Kinda reminds me of something Slaaneshi.....

PS, I know, that was tasteless. But it was funny.

Very Nice work! KEEP IT UP!

Ignore the fluff side of it, it's a modelling project not a novel, this is looking good so please stick with it. :)

I know female marines don't exist, and I know that even if they could be made there wouldn't really be any point as woman wouldn't make the final cut to be a Space Marine in the first place.

However, Anti-Female Marine and Pro-Female Marine folk must be attacked for their loop hole arguments and constant bickering in Warseer's hallowed halls. And the only way to do it is with a big manly lady marine.

It is to show that even someone that knows female marines do not exist can make one without any trouble at all, and that it is possible to make a female marine that does not look like a weeaboo's wet dream and still have it look good. And I actually would like to see everyone and anyone that is fed up with the bs regarding the subject to do the same as me.

Much improvement on the fist there, as you have said :-)
Your are of course right about the female-thing etc. and it is very good, imo, that you stand behind your idea and execute it very well.
Do you have seen by any choice the "halo (wars, i think it should be "halo wars"...) film? With the story of a woman beeing a super chief, too? I had first thought of this when I had seen this, the model you are making could make a very nice character or some background story, too :-)
Keep it up ;-)
Have you chosen a backpack yet?

Maybe you can tack it on the next time, I think you can get the propotions/feeling of the model much better then, also the angle of the arms.
edit: oh I see you have chosen the chaos pack?
I think a bigger, larger backpack of the space marines would suit better, not sure though :-)

I am not really bothering with fluff. This is a one off display piece after all. However, I will be taking what I have learnt and work on a male power armour suit (wider chest). I might just cast that one and make a version of Marks 2-8 and Tactical Dreadnought Armour based off it.

As for the backpack, I will be using that widened one as seen before, though I will be replacing the Chaos exhausts with scratch built ones based off the Rhino exhausts. I will mount it slightly higher on her back too. Size wise I think it is perfect, considering this is my reference for how big everything will need to be;

Looks really good so far. I'm glad you didn't go with breasts, osprey armour used by the British army is the same for male and females, the boobs get flattened. Women who work out a lot and are ripped loose their breasts, even a women who initially had massive jugs would find them a lot smaller once seriously ripped.

terribletrygon
13-04-2010, 23:51
I think the moment a woman is turned into a marine is the moment her breasts are eliminated. The process and outcome would easily ensure that.

Then again, I never model breast cup armour on any of my female miniatures, so it was a non-issue when it came to avoiding it. All of my female military characters generally wear the same uniform as their male counterparts.

Is that so? Seems to be the case, but I wonder why...

Anyway, back to boobies. I still think that a female 28mm (or 32mm as the case may be) model is just too small to really show much identity. While the armour may well hide breasts and all the rest, if you are going to make a female fantasy miniature, it needs [i]some nod to the female physique. In particular, the waist-hip ratio might be a very good way to show her feminine nature without necessarily giving her giant cups on her armour. In fluff terms, while breasts may shrink with muscle addition, the waist/hip ratio will not change. I still prefer boobies.

As you can see her power fist cable has been added. It came off a Tyranid Warrior's Deathspitter feeder arm. I have also started the World Eater Legion Icon on her chest plate, playing off the vent. Her hair is done, her backpack has progressed and her pose changed a little bit again. Also, after someone called for her to be more feminine, I added a small skull to her plasma pistol as you can see below. That ought to do the trick I reckon.

Wow! What a encouraging comment, first place of Warseer's most motivating post contest...
Seriously, go to think about making another April fools theme on March, you are not funny at all...

About the model, It's a nice one, great model and good pose, keep on it, i like it a lot :). About the breast-boobs, if the woman wears a huge and thick armour, the boobs don't stick out that armour, if this would be an imperial Guard female soldier, the breast could stick out a little and be evident in the armour, but not in a Space marine power armour.

Cheers! :)

Even then you wouldn't see individual breasts, the chest would just stick out a little more than on a bloke, a bit of an obvious bump.

This is one of the best true-scaled SM logs I've seen (at least my favorite, not that I've seen many)
I must say, though I originally liked the use of the Vox on the front of the armour, I don't like the fact that you've covered it up with the teeth icon.

Keep up the terrific work!

terribletrygon
15-04-2010, 15:18
I think the teeth thing is mostly because I made it too high. When I finish sculpting it, I intend to do a green stuff cast of it before pulling it off. I will then put on the original jaw and the copy and see how it looks.

Her size is kinda based on this picture.

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k156/Terrible_Trygon/8ft_marine.jpg

Her size came from a comparison of human models to her lower leg. Though doing a Jes Goodwin model in that position might be easier... :p I think she does look a little bigger due to her pose. It is not the normal 'arced legs' pose marines models and art normally have. You might also notice that her chest is not as wide as that marine. This is the only obvious way to identify from a male marine if she were in full armour and if I made a male marine model in this method. And it is likely I will be.

Something has always bugged me about this picture, if you look at the numbers on the left hand side you will see the first is a 2', making the base line 1' so that actually makes the Space Marine 7' tall and not 8' :wtf:
