View Full Version : Heresy Death Guard

Hi all. This is my heresy era death guard army (or most of it anyway). I#m in the early stages of modeling/painting. So nothing complete yet. I'll have to get a move on as this is all for a tournament in mid may.

One Land Raider.

More to come later. Cheers :)

i like!

the faces in that...flesh-mess on the the land raider is a bit chilling but cool. i also like the green you are using. the only thing i have to ask is if you are going to make them look nasty/? i know its early stages but i'd love to see some sickness on them.

i want to see that great unclean one paint soon!

Not sure it's Heresy though.. the colour scheme is not really right.. and the Land Raider is definitely the wrong mark.

However... Nurgle Rocks....!!!!

Thanks Hushrong. Flesh-mess is a good way of describing it I reckon, well it's certainly better than saying green stuff and zombie guys. :)

I'll do my best with the sickness.

Anyway after my short break to have dinner I thought I would throw up some more pics of some of the smaller guys.

This is the first squad of plague marines. Just basecoated at the moment. When they get some more paint attention I'll chuck on some close ups.

This is the second squad of what will eventually be three. Same story paint wise.

Lastly for this post is a pic of Gurtur-Fol, the one time stoic captain of the death guard legion turned plague marine commander. ohhh nasty.

This is the most expensive conversion I have ever done. I bought warlord queek just for that sythe which sits on the top half of Gurtur's thunder hammer.

The Dreadnought does look sweet!

Everything seems to be coming along fast.

How about an Army Shot ;)

Heresy seems about right. during that time they would have had the destroyer hive all over them and then convert to nurgle.

i did miss the bit of the landraider though. forgot about the mk2b style.

Looks like they are off to a good start there an i too would like an army shot!

well up to the Transit to Earth they would be the white with green edging. I've never been entirely sure that they turned green.. more that their armour decayed, rusted and slimed when they fell to Nurgle in transit.. so it would probably still be the same colour under layer after layer of gunk. Fine post Heresy army though

I take your point on the mark of the land raider it is wrong but there are only slight differences between a heresy era land raider and the 'modern' one. Unless you are thinking of the old land raider model.

It's not a pre heresy army mind you. This is a heresy army. I'm at the gates of the palace. No more of that palid off white armour, but in with the new, palid off green armour. This is the army after their long and eventful trip to terra. Lots of stuff has changed for the guard so I figure that they are more like the 'modern' manifestation of the legion. However I would have liked to spend more time modeling that land raider and making it a bit more heresy period. The same for the two drop pods I have as well. But time waits for no man so they will have to suffer.

Nurgle does rock though.

Nice forgeworld models. The nurgle dreadnoughts are such great models. I only wish their rules were a bit better.

I'll be keeping an eye on this.

Nice Death Guard so far, looking really good. I really like the modelling effects you have gone for on that Land Raider.

The siege of terra reveals another brother legion commander...

Welcome to the fight...

but good luck on an attempt to match the Sons of Horus, we will be the first and foremost to destroy terra...

nothing like a little competition... ;)

keep it up, i know exactly what campaign weekend you are going to...

is this all so far? or is there more, if there isnt, then you've got a hell of a way to go :D

good luck

Top work! By the way, the PCRC has a name for that kind of conversion: "Wallet-bleed class".

As for the road ahead, I throughly recommend painting while watching TV series back to back on DVD. Certainly makes it less of a chore!

Comedy also works...

The PCRC videos are quite the masterpiece in slapstick comedy...

but other than this, i would recomend many comedy dvd's, preferably ones that dont include to many actions (such as Michael McIntyre) but comedians such as Jimmy carr work quite well i think :)

It's been a good while since I last posted an update of the army. This update is an army shot of my 3000 point list. I have 9 painting days left until the tournament and an awful lot to paint. Yesterday the army included two barbarus sting drop pods but having played my first games with them and not much liking the damage they dealt out vs the easy kill points the gave away I decided to change the list. I wipped out the pods and a daemon prince and replaced it with a Land Raider Spartan. I hadn't started the land raider until yesterday so I'm quite happy with how far along I am with it.

Still fairly mad to start a new and rather large model 9 days before a tournament. That's the way I roll though.

Many more updates to come in the next 9 days.

Very nice looking models mate! What are the normal marines from? Are they the normal plaguemarines or did you convert them all?
The landraiders look epic, Nurgle all the way. Your lord looks cool in that pose, like he's saying: I'm coming for YOU!
Keep it up man, it really looks good.

that land raider spartan is very different. i look forward to seeing it get a full nurgle treatment.
