As I read the book I took them to be more of a SW chapter with Ultramarine sensibilities.
They live on a more feral world, but put aside much of the feral traits.
I think the SW dex would work if you edited it carefully to give them a slightly more Ultra feel.

Personally, I think the BA book would do fine rules-wise for the Iron Snakes. Seeing as they are SM, then using the models to represent wouldn't be that big an issue so long as the opponent knows exactly what he is fighting.

@wazatdingder: Seeing as they put aside their feral traits, wouldn't it be a bit more appropriate to keep those traits as background? It is much harder to make SW more Ultramarine than vice versa.

With regards,
Dan.

I disagree, I have had my own chapter that I have been working on for years that has a very "Zen" feel. No Codex really fit them. I finally fleshed them out w/ SWs Codex. I take away Wolfin and Blood Claws to make an elite and flexible force. Take away the beer stained furry fluff and you will find a very flexible force.

I believe the vanilla codex would represent the snakes better. They didn't seem to be nearly as assault oriented as the BA, and and displayed none of the specialist wargear and troops in any way. You could even make your relic blades into mighty spears. In the end, it's your call. It's just that ba's big specialty is death company and jump troops, neither of which fit the theme presented in the book (IMO).
