How possible would it be that GW would insert pictures/drawings of a new, yet unseen race in the pages of 8th edition?

Thoughts?

[a race that will, in the 'very near future', be released]

That does seem like how GW thinks about stuff like that. Is it possible? Yes. Will it happen? No idea.

There's rather a lot of fluff pictures of creatures and races never seen in the game. It's always been a pet peeve of mine that the actual chaos models never look anything like the majority of the art.

Well, there's an Arabian horseman and a Cathayan greatsword in the 7th ed rulebook, so why not.

Pictures yes. Actual new armies - doubtful, though 8th Edition could be a new start for Fantasy, given how big some of the rumoured changes could be. Maybe we will see some new armies - Imagine, Fantasy World War!

They've already added an easter egg...look at the new River Trolls...in the hand of one of them is...one of the FISHMEN!

The 4th ed Warhammer rule books has pictures of the Chaos Dwarfs before they were released, including a few models that were never made.

Then there you have it. There is a 14% chance of this happening again.

14%? I think it is at least 15.27%

They may have pics of new races, but I don't know if they'll consciously be putting them in with an eye to releasing a new army. I mean, there was the picture of a Kroot in the 40K 3rd ed book, but I don't think they had planned to actually make them at that point.

It is, indeed, a fish. More importantly it was, indeed, a joke.

"oh that's not a fishman... it's just a fish, man"

i think that if there's a new race, as rumored, it's not going to be obliquely revealed in the brb. to the contrary, i think there will be a big section of fluff for it, as well as statlines for much of the armylist in the back of the book, alongside the other army profiles, and pictures of painted minis.

Sorry, but is this a non-sarcastic post?

From what I understand, the percentage should be higher.

Though I'm sure many don't know me to contribute much in the way of serious posts, this one was actually non-sarcastic. 1 out of 7 army books currently have pictures of models that were unreleased at the time of the book being printed. That comes out to 14.28 percent, which I rounded down to 14%.

I think that's about as close to a real number as we're bound to get when dealing with something that we honestly know very little about. We'll just have to wait until July.

It wasn't sarcastic, but it wasn't serious either. Something that happened 4 editions ago doesn't really give any predictor for the future, especially when GW change their minds about things every 6 months. "We will never do that" - "We've decided to give it a try..."
