Well, this is gona be my entry. Yes, this f***tards still loyal yet.

I want to sart with Captain Khârn and 5 'zerkers.

Khârn is in the modelling stage right now. I have a problem with him. I don't have any chainaxe, so I must to build one (by this way, I have ruined two chainswords...) but I'm not sure with the results.

After this units, I probably add some PH terminators (I hope 3 at least) and/or 5 marines.

And this are the sketch of Khârn with a friend from a world under conquer:

With a smal non-converted axe from a old metal champion (and mutilated) skeleton:

http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/4917/kharnsksa02.jpg

And here with a plastic converted thunder-chainaxe:

http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/7364/kharnskba02.jpg

Side view from the axe:

http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/9493/kharnskba03.jpg

Still very very WIP, needs very GS to fix some stuff but is the general idea. The helmet is not the final one, just I don't want to show the big guy without head.

I belive that the small one is in better scale, but is Khârn and he can rip tanks, even landraiders with his bare hands (a part from the fact that Gorechild was a gift from his primarch, and everyones knows that they are big and awesome).

Progress in Khârn's friend:

The base is almost done and I'm pretty happy with the blood effect, and the rock color. The ground is sandpaper (I'm a cheap guy) cutted like a dried, thirsty and scorched earth. Happy earth, will be filled with blood! Yumi!!

But, stop talking, here's Khârn's friend, aka Lucky:

http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/3996/lucky2c.jpg

http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/8448/lucky1y.jpg

Need to fix some blood drops, but it's more or less the final result. Oh, I'm a :cuss noob, I almost forgot! Two mould lines -that I've forgot- escaped from me ¬¬' One on the head (not time for the head tonight ;) but is 80% finished) and one on the arm.

Hope you like it!

love the base for kharn, I think he would look really cool if you had it so he was actually stand on the guard with one foot and postioned his head so it was looking up at the guard head.

I will certainly be very interested in seeing the final product

gruesome... i love it...

where is that torso from?

[edit] i agree that he should be looking at his victim

That chainaxe thunder hammer is not a bad conversion at all and the base for Kharn is gruesome and actually, perfect, for representing Kharn has just cleaved a man virtually in two.

Aiwass

@ logan054, yes my first though was that he was looking the head of his enemy, but finally tried to do that he's looking at the front, raising his head like a trophy.

@ RedFlames I guess you mean the victim's torso. This is the torso from the catachan command squad officer, chopped in half and glued with a WHFB old plastic zombie torso. The hand is from a zombie from the same sprue too.

@ Bigcheese76 the axe is fixed now, and I hope that looks better after painting.

Thank you all very much for the comments and encouragement!! ^_^

I hope can be able to post some progress tomorrow!

i actually mean kharns torso...

... and i may have to permanently borrow that thunder axe idea. though personally i think the handle looks a bit too short

That thunder axe idea is pretty damn wicked. I might have to jack that too, maybe as an alternative to chainfists. My Marines are similarly Loyalist WE's - though post-heresy, originally the Sons of Varro, sort of a successor of sorts, they now go by the pre-Angron name of Warhounds. I figured it'd be a great idea to use two-handed chainaxes for my relic blades.

D'oh! The torso is from the new Death Company box, also the legs and the head.

The handle is short because it seems more brutal (at least that's the impression I get). With a large handle, maybe looks very two handed, like my Lemartes:

Nice idea about the loyalist WE :) What codex you use for them? C:BA or C:SM?

I'm going straight C:SM - I want access to things like Sternguard, which are just the ultimate gun troops out there in my mind. I'm using an amalgam of SM, DA, SW, BT and possibly to add BA bits for them, to give a rather mixed feel - I plan to have my assault marines rather feral looking, as would befit their history. They've been sternly watched for any signs of heresy ever since the big event, so they adhere strictly to the Codex Astartes to avoid problems - this doesn't mean they still aren't savagely brutal on the field - tactical squads wind up being rather savage in ranged combat, similar with devastators, often shooting fleeing units to ribbons. I've got the play style in mind already, even though the army's just being founded.

Woohoo!

I have news, the Pre Heresy Shoulder for the terminators ARE a fail -checked- but still trying. Here are the pics:

http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/6076/gscast.jpg

As you can see, this pads are very ugly. The most of the fail is because I forgot to remove the original at the time, the resut is that the piece was difficult to draw, breaking part of the mould in the process. Besides, the size:

http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/7084/phtermifail.jpg

So I'm a bit sad :( But I learns from mistakes :)

Anyways, here is something that makes me happy, Khârn is done! It's been a busy day, I wanted to have it done tomorrow in the morning, but without realizing I managed to finish him. An exhausting and profitable afternoon :)

ADVICE: Countless mould lines -I hate them! - almost ruin the model, but I fixed what I could. Now, see the Betrayer in al his glory!

But the BA codex has stenrguard, and if you leaves away the fast vehicles is a pretty good codex to make an assault force. Anyways, I think that for a loyalist chapter close combat oriented (post-heresy) the Black Templars codex fits very well, especially with the World Eaters/Warhounds!

Update time!

Assault marines today. I've been thinking on how to make the conversions, as I have almost no experience in pre heresy armor. Finally I decided to make the sergeant in mk IV and the marines in mk III, since the mk III is an assault oriented armor I think that fits pretty well.

Ok, I have no GS tools besides of the modelling knives and my fingers  but the result is almost acceptable methinks.

First, the Sargeant (aka aspiring champion):

http://img532.imageshack.us/img532/3759/assaultsgtfront.jpg

As you can see, is far from complete, the GS is now waiting to cure, so it can be cut and smooth. This guy, unnamed yet, will be armed with a power fist and a bolt pistol, and tons of rage.

For the mk III iron armor I followed this (http://z15.invisionfree.com/The_Great_Crusade/index.php?showtopic=1095) great tutorial, and also this (http://www.mywargame.com/2009/11/24/creating-pre-heresy-marines-%E2%80%93-part-3-mark-iii-power-armour/).

Here the first assault marine (aka berzerker), front:

http://img532.imageshack.us/img532/3655/assault1front.jpg

And back:

http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/6813/assault1back.jpg

And the second one, left side:

http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/7752/assault2side.jpg

And back:

http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/8120/assault2back.jpg

In less of one hour I have the three in this current state! Great tutorials, thought.

C&C very welcome :)

You've got some lovely conversions in here mate, I love your interpretation of Khârn.

For the new Mk IV guy, I'd recommend either trying the glue dot method or the gel bead method for the studs on him if you can. It seems almost a shame to have done all that other work with the greenstuff and put those rivets on. Square rivets work well for World Eaters, but maybe a little bit smaller.

Aiwass
04-05-2010, 00:52
I'm glad you like Khârn! He's a pretty fun guy to be around! :)

You're right, Saul. The mkIV is an ugly job. Every time I look him I like less. I don't know these method you refer but I am seriously considering put to the sword the riveting and the wires and the chest vent and start again. Even without rivets (well, still trying to rivet but...)

Thanks for the feedback!

Oops *facepalm*, too late for Ariakus (hey just found his name!), is in the Apothecarion right now. In a few I go to buy some pva :)

And more news. This project starts to have something solid now. I have two lists, one of 1000 points for friendly games and one of 1750 for local tourneys.

1000 points list (What I should thank to: the jeske, chillin and specially to HazardousZERO from B&C (http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=200194&view=findpost&p=2384642)):

So, now I have a solid "to do" list.

HQ:

Khârn

Khârn

ELITES:

Lord’s retinue of 4x Terminators, 1x Heavy Flamer, 1x Chainfist, 3x Lightning Claws, Icon of Khorne

HEAVY:

1x Landraider

1x Predator Destructor

Green: Done!
Yellow: In progress.
Red: Not started/owned.

Well, as you can see, in the "to do list" there are some extra stuff. There are another Khârn because I feel that I need to make another one in a more agresive/dinamic pose. And Angron... Because is their Primarch! what I wonder is how to rule Angron, a 'count as' Abbadon with the Horus Claw being Gorefather and the unspeakable sword being Gorechild or like a chaos lord with MoK and daemon weapon or like a Daemon Prince with MoK. I'm going more for Abbadon but not sure. And last, a Predator, because is better have it and not need it that need it and not have it xD

I'm very early in this project, since I have only the AoBR marines (without the dread!) and a bunch of old plastic marines. Well, plus the Space Crusade marines and yeah, the Space Crusade dread! But the dread from FW is so cool... For the LR I want to buy the FW ones within a time.

I hope to have more progress in the zerker squad soon, stay tunned!

The 1,750 list looks quite good to me, should be fun to play with.

Shame you've binned Ariakus, looking forward to seeing what you do with him the second time around.

As for Angron using the Abaddon rules is quite good for him, though Tempus Fugitives have put out rules for all the Primarchs in their rules packs for the campaign weekends they do at Warhammer World.

I like that you're going to use the Forgeworld Land Raider parts, though I must say I've heard they're difficult to assemble. Apparently the sponsons are not too bad, but alot of people seem to have issues with the hull modification pieces.

If your happy using plasticard, or even want to start using it, you might find these two tutorials useful...;);)

Agreed, but I prefer Abbadon because the "house rules" makes some people frown.

Woohoo! Nice tuts here, both bookmarkes already for a future use.

Now with the news. It is not a very profitable day but, would be rude not to visit Ariakus now that is lying on a stretcher in the Apothecarion served by not very sexy nurse-servitors:

http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/3158/sgtariakus.jpg

The central panel in his chest is like a... Ok, it's a shame, but looks better than before I'd say, and the wires, not perfect but far better -looks better in person because we have no such resolution- and the rivets! I greatly appreciate the PVA trick, it's so easy!

But this is not at all! We have with us Brother Caedes.

http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/6194/brotherlegionarycaedes.jpg

The groincloth of the mkIII armour has given to me many headaches. Nothing I tried was well, but suddenly someone banged my head with a shovel, and I see the light -of the Emperor of course- and I'm going with this. Or as I call, The Forge:

http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/5056/theforge.jpg

Problem solved :)

And last, a little surprise. I present to you Owen:

Good point on the rules Aiwass, if he counts as Abaddon then no-one can say the rules are unbalanced.

The new models look much better, the rivets are ace. I think Ariakus' chest is fine, and his cables look really good. Caedes is good, I like the pushmould method for things, and using it on that shovel for the groin armour is inspired!

Another thing to add at the "to do" list just for fun:

Robot Crusader/Colossus/Conqueror/Defiler Not decided what model fits better with the weapons option of the defiler yet.

Some time without updates, but finally I managed to get a propper camera. First of all, in view of an upcomming tournament, been forced to transform the Predator into a Command RH1N0 (where will ride Captain Khârn & his Command Squad -7x "possessed with "Icon of Khorne" (actually, the Company banner)).

Cmd RH1N0:

http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/6466/cmdrhinoright.jpg

The RH1N0 is almost finished, but I have no time to paint or conversion because I must to assembly the whole army for the tourney (@2000 points) in a month, and prepare the Defiler (waiting for assembly) for a paint contest.

Meanwhile, I've been working (thanks to cajaderestos.es for the bitz) in the Autocannon Havoc gunner concept. I must to say that, apart from that the FW models are awesome and that all, they don't fit with the Devastator parts without GS.

But I can't say the same about my laptop. Is nearly dead. I had 3 daysfighting against it but the HDD is so broken ("KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR" BSOD ¬_¬) and I'm now with my girlfriend's notebook... And when I go to buy another this morning the car's engine also crashed. A black winter day.

Anyway, hands on!

Here is Skane' support squad finished (still missing the bolter grunts, but they would be done soon, when I move to the tactical units).

http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/6843/skanesupportsqd.th.jpg (http://img838.imageshack.us/i/skanesupportsqd.jpg/)

Harle assault squad (raptors) finished.

And almost finshed, Wrathe's Berzerker squad with Chaplain (count as Champion with power weapon).

2nd shot:

And that's all for now! I must finish the 2 models from Wrathe's squad and the company banner. Hope you like it!

Imperial Knight class Titan Deus Irae

At te end of 3 intensive work days, I can say that almost finished the Knight titan (this monster was terrible time consumer, between 15 and 18 hours!) but I think tat is worth the efforth and the time invested.

It will be a Knight dettached from the Legio Magna (aka Flaming Skulls) to the World Eaters Legio. Still wip, but is nearly finished (just need to add some details, the banners and start painting). In game I use the basic Defiler profile: TL-Autocannon, TL-Heavy flamer, 2x DCCW and Battle Cannon.

In other order of things, Ariakus, Skane and Wreathe squads are primed and ready to painting, but to the grain. Here are the pics (still without PC and I have not image editting software here).

Some 'zerker love :)

Wrathe Berzerker Squad
After countless painting hours (8 or so) here they are. Still WIP as you can see, they need some details, basework and, of course, blood.

Inspired by this piece of artwork:

http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/6831/pict0023vq.th.jpg (http://img100.imageshack.us/i/pict0023vq.jpg/)

Added a Chaplain (Wrathe) to add some color to the squad.

And the remaining Brothers.

I was thinking that paint large vehicles was easiest than little minis... False! I had hard times painting that damned Knight. Not finished yet, but here are some pre-view pictures (and you can appreciate my (lack of) painting skills).

After a few days playing to World of The Living Dead (http://worldofthelivingdead.com) I managed to advance a little in the painting of Deus Irae.

Here are the pics:

Still very WIP and the right arm is far from finished, also the TL-flamers. Moreover I can't manage to take good pics with that crappy camera. Anyways, hope you like it!

EDIT: Images "resized", sorry.

Thank you Sauragnmon, I'm happy you like it! I hope more progress after christmass but now I'm empty xD

Also i would add some bikers to the army. My wish is to have a full "century" (aka battle company) and until now, I have 42 marines, almost half of the path :)

So I'm taking it with calm, that is a lot of stuff to do. Is not a "full" Century, but every squad would be represented. As you can see in previuos posts (and in the list), many things are just finished, so I'm more or less at 40% of the project (besides the bases ofc).

How to ruin a Rhino:

1-Search some amazing tutorial (http://ultrawerke.blogspot.com/2007/03/painting-and-weathering-tutorial-part-i.html)
2-Try to follow it
3-?????
4-Profit!

Ok then, I know what I'm not have to do. I have no oils, retardants, enamels, and lot of stuff to do that tutorial. But i want to make it so i started with what I have: GW paints.

http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/4403/pict0152z.jpg

The first thingy of the colour dots, DON'T DO IT with acrylics. Nope. Never. They dry before you can dilute and leave ugly colour spots in your tank.

The best you can do is mix the colors and thin just like a heavy wash, then apply to the tank. Don't let the paint make pools or you can ruin it. When dry, the tank have some dusty look. Which is good.

http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/290/pict01560.jpg

As you can see, I really suck at mapping. So, if you suck too, don't do it before you have tested the effect in a useless thing, or you can ruin the tank. Like me.

http://img816.imageshack.us/img816/2666/pict01540.jpg

Also, be careful when drybrushing. You can notice that I also suck at 'sponge' method.

http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/8256/pict0159i.jpg

Lastly, beware with the washes. A wash can give a nice effect or can **** off your tank, like mine.

I'm still learning, the rhino still WIP.

Nice Rhino. Gonna make a Nurgle one like that, except it will look like it drove through a sewer. I'll probably brown wash the "chipped" areas to give it a rusting effect.

I'm starting to weather with alternate methods, and here's my take in another rhino so far:

Real good outcome on the battle damage. Exactly what I thought you could do with your large areas.
I like WE a lot and your preheresy ones are very cool, very well done. The use of those, what? red scorpions? heads puts a nice touch to them.

Keep it up

Cheers

Yes, you was entirely right! I need to repaint the first grey-damage on the other rhino to make it like the latest one.

I'm flattered you like my army besides there are some wrong mk helmets (the mk 7's, I want to fix that in a near future). The 'red scorpion one' actually is from the DC box without the BA grail symbol :)

My first aim is finish both rhinos before to move to the next target.

Thanks for coment!

Thanks for the compliment Fallen :) Now I¡m stoped from the paintwork for a while, and trying to build some custom obliterators, but I'm short of inspiration right now (I hope have one assembled this week, but I don't bet my money on that). Also looking how turn into the pre Heresy timeline 4 of the AoBR terminators.

Good morning Vietnam! I've stoped from painting this days, but don't worry, the weathering tutorial for starters (http://world-eaters.blogspot.com/2010/11/weathering-tutorial-part-i.html) would be finished!

Now let's talking about the Obliterator cult. I'm not really a fan of them. Certainly I would be much happier with Cult Terminators... But better to keep this on-topic :)

The Obliterators are a very versatile Heavy Support choice, and, besides I only play WH40K for the fluff, I like to win sometimes. Of course, I play to win, but for the fluff. Combine both concepts can be very painful, so following the wise advices of The Jeske (B&C) and specially, of VonManstein (Warseer, aka Zhukov in B&C) I conceded and picked a unit of Obliterators to play in competitive enviroments.

But, since this army is intended to be pre Heresy, the Obliterators are out of place. To amend this, my first thought was running them as Techmarines with full servo-harness (I don't discard one of those, by the way), but after seeing the amazing Obliterators (http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=172506&view=findpost&p=2152604) of Dan The Daemon (http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?showtopic=172506), I changed my mind and decided stole his idea.

But, to the point. Pictures ahoy!

http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/4113/pict0049qa.jpg
http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/3170/pict0044v.jpg

This is only a rough sketch of my aim. That guys needs a lot of work, green stuff to fill some gaps and some details, but there is more or less the basic idea. I'm thinking in making the little base removable, to show actual wounds in game.

Thank you guys! Actually the Machine Spirit is very upset, because they insist in refer to him as "Cruise Control" xD

That rhino is made of very helpful advices from very kind people here on Warseer and Bolter & Chainsword. Trying to improve is always easy when a lot of people is helping to you :)

C&C very welcome, cheers!

Hi there, good afternoon :)

Here is a bit of progress with my first Obliterator. I've added some details here and there. The wound one (aka Brother Wone or lascannon guy) is almost completed, just need minor GS work to fill some gaps. I'm not very happy with wound two (or, like he like call himself, Brother Tchooh), not sure if it's the pose, the power fist, or the whole model.
