As the post suggests, is it possible to make a chariot heavy army competitive. The reason i ask is that i'm putting together a High Elf list with Korhill in a chariot and lots of lion chariots to support him.

Can a High Elf chariot list work?

Also what other armies can work with a chariot heavy theme?

Yes it can work, just make sure to have characters in chariots to take away rank bonus's, and eagles to do the baiting.

Beastmen and tomb kings also do it very well.

Lion Chariots are notoriously vulnerable to shooting. Anything with significant ranged ability will have a huge advantage over you, especially if they have things like Harpies, Eagles or Fast Cav to force you to fail charges.

For HE, I'd want at least 3 RBTs and 2 units of Archers to counter that shooting. I'd also want that one Eagle to protect your flank.

And a mix of Tiranocs and Lions would be good. Lions have the higher strength and Fear, but Tiranocs are faster. They'll get to the shooters more quickly, or at least draw their fire while your Lions get into position.

dont forget the O&G. They can put ALOT of really cheap chariots on the field. not the toughest chariots mind you.

I would have said O&G in their last book where wolf chariots where 2 for 1, in the current book however (even though they can get a good number of pump wagons) I wouldn't say they are as chariot heavy possible as these other armies that can field at least 10 true chariots.

I've decided to use Archmage on an eagle to lead the list along with 2 units of archers, 2 Rbt's, 2 eagles, 6 DPs and shadow warriors.

5 lion chariots, one with Korhill will hit hard. With the eagles and shadow warriors i'm giving my opponents too much choice of targets to shoot at.

I'll have a decent magic phase as well as shooting, i'm feeling confident

Hope it goes well :)

I like it. How 'bout a BatRep?

A Battle Report. A detailed account of your game with that list, usually posted in the Battle Report forum.

BatReps are good for everyone.

Will do mate.

My main opponent plays Dark Elfs so it should be a bloodbath on both sides of the table

All chariots? Just play tomb kings.

(hides his Druchii pride for a moment, and doesn't retort)

We usually just use chariots to soak damage. I mean T5 is nice... but if you march it next to the Troops before the charge, it works (this one is word of mouth to me. I hate the bloody things!)

Marching chariots?

A while back I theoryhammered a Beastmen list with about 14 chariots and 4 shamans riding 4 chariots.
Has anyone tried this type of list?
How did it go?
