Inspired by the 8th edition rumours I built up the following list
for a highly atypical on the table, but possibly quite typical (minus lack of war machines) in the fluff as an aggressive dwarf melee / maneouvre army: the Angry Dwarfs of Bugman!

The list is designed for 2250-2500, but I left out all but the most integral runic stuff so far.

The plan would be to have a battle line of the Hammerers (with the BSB and probably Bugman), Longbeards and the Warrior units affected by the Strollaz, as well as the Longbeard Rangers who range ahead of the army, but still within 12" of the Strollaz in deployment.

While the battle line advances, the Longbeard rangers flank - and are joined in the flank / rear charge operations by the three miner units appearing where needed (hopefully). It's an attempt at a dwarf semi-MSU (or MMU, medium units) with highly bloody combats all round from the masses of Great Weapons giving you the theoretical ability to hurt anything.

It might not be the most competitive army ever, but it might be highly fun! You can just imagine the wrath of Bugman as he leads his troops to avenge his lost brewery...I've been thinking about this kind of army ever since the dwarf book came out, and it looks like 8th would make it much more viable.
An anvil is another option (with one less unit of longbeard rangers and no Bugman)....

Here's the actual list that I forgot(!) to copy-paste from AB:

1 Josef Bugman @ 155.0 Pts
General; Crossbow; Gromril Armour; Shield
#Bugman's Tankard [0.0]

1 Thane @ 145.0 Pts
Gromril Armour; Battle Standard
Runic Banner [55.0]
Strollaz's Rune

15 Bugman's Longbeard Rangers @ 225.0 Pts
Great Weapon; Heavy Armour; Standard; Musician

15 Bugman's Longbeard Rangers @ 225.0 Pts
Great Weapon; Heavy Armour; Standard; Musician

15 Longbeards @ 210.0 Pts
Great Weapon; Heavy Armour; Standard; Musician

15 Warriors @ 165.0 Pts
Great Weapon; Heavy Armour; Standard; Musician

15 Warriors @ 165.0 Pts
Great Weapon; Heavy Armour; Standard; Musician

15 Warriors @ 165.0 Pts
Great Weapon; Heavy Armour; Standard; Musician

15 Miners @ 180.0 Pts
Great Weapon; Heavy Armour; Standard; Musician

15 Miners @ 180.0 Pts
Great Weapon; Heavy Armour; Standard; Musician
15 Miners @ 180.0 Pts

15 Hammerers @ 198.0 Pts

Total: 2193 for now

You can't exactly have 2 bugman's.... So what do you mean by 2 bugman longbeard rangers?\

Also, Bugman MUST deploy with a unit of longbeard rangers. so he can't go anywhere else.

Doesn't Bugman let you take two units of Longbeard rangers?
But yeah, Bugman goes into one of those.

Correct. You cannot build a simulacrum of Bugman either.

Imagine incorrect terminology. There is no such thing as bugman longbeard rangers, they are merely Longbeard Rangers.

Doesn't Bugman let you take two units of Longbeard rangers?

Dwarf Army Page 53, Core Units, 0-1 Rangers:

"A single unit of Warriors, Quarrallers, or Longbeards that are armed with great weapons may be upgraded to Rangers at a cost of +x point per model."

Dwarf Army Page 62, Josef Bugman, Bugman's Rangers:

"Any army including Bugman must include a unit of Longbeard Rangers. These are in addition to the normal allowance of Longbeards and Rangers but do count towards the minimum Core Troops choices in the army."

Dwarf Army FAQ:

"Q. If a unit of Warriors or Longbeards is
upgraded to Rangers, does the unit
continue to count as part of the ratio
which restricts players to not having more
units of Longbeards than they have
Warriors?

A. Rangers are not Warriors, so an army with
Rangers in it must still include a unit of
Warriors before it can field a unit of
Longbeards."

Also, Bugman MUST deploy with a unit of longbeard rangers. so he can't go anywhere else.

There is no such rule.

Incorrect.

To further Notasquick's point (thanks for listing all that info, btw; helps clear things up for people on issues such as these), on Bugman's bio page (page 62) under his stat line it states "Josef Bugman can be taken as a Hero choice in a Dwarf army. He must be field exactly as presented, and no extra equipment or rune items can be bought".

So while I would tend to have him be in the unit (for fluff reasons), Notasquick is correct in that it is not stated anywhere that he MUST be.
