Hey everybody, here is my first go at an empire army, going for defensive, fire power heavy army. My most likely opponents will be WoC, and beastmen.

Drop the Standard Bearers and Musicians from you missile units, they are unnecessary. Drop one cannon for a Mortar and beef up the 5man Handgunners to 10.

It might be worth losing the BSB for a gunline army and add a second mage to a) provide more magical offence and b) provide more magical defence. Depends how you envision the force behaving.

Ok taking some of your advice, how about this.

Got rid of the SB's and Musicians from my missile Units, swapped a cannon or a mortar and switch my engineer for a war priest as the army was lacking the magical defence. So he priest an extra dispel dice, and some magic resist for the unit his in, Plus the doom fire ring for more Pew-pew

I think the first of these two lists has a lot more flexibility in it, as the griffin standard+general+ spear man block, and then the Great swords +warrior priest block, should be a very scare choice to charge if the enemy hasn't tried to whittle down there numbers, which means they'll have left my shooting units alone to blow them up.

theres no piont haveing the musican on the knights and you could do with another block unit to hold your line when the enemy gets there

I would also consider droping the Great Swords. I use them in a large infantry army, and they are good for bolstering my line - but in your list you would be better (imo) replacing them with 25/30 swords men with a 10 man swordsmen detatchent (and possibly put one of your handgun units as a detachment as well). Swap the spearmen for Swordsmen, as until we get better armour on our in army core choices, the 4+ you get from sm is the best we can have.
