Hi all,

For the Tempus Fugitives Event "The Scouring", I'm hoping to make some Sisters of Silence, Likely an Oblivion team and a Prosecutor team. I link some images for you so you can see what i want them to look akin to.

Prosecutors (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/mediawiki/images/1/17/IronLynxProsecutorSquad.png)

Oblivion Knights (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/mediawiki/images/d/df/Raven%27sClawAssaultSquad.png)

I'm thinking of using the legs and waist of the dark elf dreadlord here (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1300235&prodId=prod1360004) For the torso, the obvious choices are battle sisters (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1300166&prodId=prod1080214). I will probably use the Dreadlord's head and gorget if i can seperate it from the model. The only issue is the cost of the dreadlord, 8 a pop, 6.55 from Wayland, so if anyone knows where i can get plastic or metal legs of the same armour style in a group of miniatures, that would be appreciated. This would mean i'd have to find another head, for which i might use the Dark Eldar top knot head, however i doubt many come in the box, so if anyone has any spare heads, let me know, along with DE spiky bits for general detail on the sisters.

For the arms and weapons for the Oblivion knights, i will probably use Dark Elf Black Guard (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1300237&prodId=prod1490016) possibly along with the shoulder pads, the weapons may be modded to have thicker poles and different blades, but that's details.

The remaining things to work out are: Dogs for the enforcers, and Fur capes for everyone, my GS skills aren't great, otherwise i'd probably sculpt the cape, though i might be able to turn a normal cape into fur. Anyone have any ideas for multiheaded cyber mastiffs? :(

So what i need to work out:

How easy is it to expose the chest of the Sisters of Battle, esp. the ones with bolters across the chest, is there deatil beneath?

Ideas for alternative legs/heads?

Fur cape?

Cyber Mastiffs?

Any help appreciated. I have to keep to majority citadel, but would prefer to use only citadel to avoid issues.

Many thanks,

Jamie

What about using the Dark Eldar models as a basis? That with some greenstuff and you're pretty much set. You might also want to get your hands on the plastic daemonettes.

For weapons look in the space marine armoury.

My issue, with the Dark Eldar models is mainly the chests, also i'm not a huge fan of the armour.

Use www.darksphere.co.uk its 25% off

Use these for your dogs http://shop.warlordgames.co.uk/mastiffs-151-c.asp

And I agree with Malika on using dark eldar/elves

Dark Eldar arms and legs, modified dark eldar or daemonette torso and you're pretty much set.

Hmm, a friend suggested the legs from Phoenix Guard. I know it's expensive but it's better than dreadlords and the armour design is right.

For the capes you could try Maxmini.eu... you can order specific designs!

http://www.maxmini.eu/store/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=100

And have you seen Micro art studio's elf torso and leg ranges,

http://www.shop.microartstudio.com/rangers-torso-p-255.html?cPath=45

http://www.shop.microartstudio.com/rangers-legs-p-254.html?cPath=45

or these

http://www.shop.microartstudio.com/amazons-torsos-p-210.html?cPath=45

Appreciate these won't solve all the issues but may give you food for thought! Best of luck with the project.. Incidentally there was a White Dwarf army article a few years back with this type of army featured, can't remember the issue number but I'm sure someone here will remember more!!

I'd consider using the Dark Eldar models, there was an article in a White Dwarf showing a small Sisters of Silence force converted from them, they looked bang on the artwork.

Hmm, those capes look promising if you can indeed order specific designs, the two on the left are nice and plain. Hopefully, i'll be okay on the majority citadel components.

from the skies they descended like gods of death and darkness...

there armour a murky sea green, covered in skulls and gifts to the gods of chaos...

Their eyes like pits of burning hellfire, burning bright in a well of darkness...

The Sons of Horus people called them...

The Sons of the Warmaster will avenge their fallen god, the Imperium will suffer the wrath of the legions of chaos!

Glory to the Warmaster!

I suffered horribly from a unit of SoS at the Siege of Terra, they are terminator and marine killers, i hate them... tho i will be looking forward to seeing how you go about making them :P

will be watching closely

Cool, Was in my G-Dubya yesterday, asking the staff for suggestions. Unforunately the detail isn't sculpted under the bolter for the sisters, so i have had to change the torso. I found the Death Cult Assassins, which i like even better, and are only marginally more expensive. The legs will be Phoenix Guard, heads Daemonettes, and Arms and weapons from Black Guard. Cape i haven't decided whether to sculpt or not.

I'm probably going to hold on the Prosecutors till i see how the knights go.

@Shadowfall First don't team with Leo, you'll lose :p (you can tell him i said that). Secondly how did your opponent deploy them. Emperor's Gift? How many did he have and was there something that stopped you killing them? I'm just worried that they're fragile and may not make it to combat.

Why dont you look for the old space marine bolter? From the second edition, it is the model that use the sisters of batle.

I will also look this thread, because Im thinking about make one squad of these girls for my SoB army (to use as the third SoB squad), and I want to see what you do.

Cool, though they will likely not be finished for some time. My deadline is September.

okay, so i started one off today, pic below, you can see half the cape at the back, i may build it up, or i may cut off and buy an alternative, yet to be decided, i'm happy with the link at the legs, the photo prob doesn't do it justice. http://i886.photobucket.com/albums/ac61/jamesterjlrb/DSC00789.jpg

lol... im making a point of not teaming with him :P lol he just seems a bit... in experienced... imean i know i lose... but man, i lose in style... he'll jus be messy ;)

well i cant remember too well about the Emperors Gift (for which im grateful) but i do believe the Custodes made use of that: Was Valdor and 2-3 custodes who managed to eat through Abbadon, Librarian in term armour with storm shield and 5 Justearin in about 2 quick turns... was horrible...

the Sisters aptly apeared somehow from a rhino i believe... survived pretty well, were able to survive 4 plasma cannons (ok 3, as one plasma cannoner facepalmed and detonated) as well as a hail of bolter shots... and then went on to chew through the devestator squad but then Aximand and a unit of sternguard ate them i think... i know somehow Aximand relic bladed the main woman...

but if your goin against terminators with TH and SS combos, then the Sisters should cut through them like water melons... but if say one terminator survives... whatever that hammer hits is gonna pasted easier than a marine would...

either way, they are also a nice modelling choice and are fun to make, so ide say keep going... the Emperors Gift would be a good choice for the sisters aswell as the storm hawk and/or a Landraider... raider would give you the much needed covering fire... say you choose the crusader, will soften up what ever they charge...

in the end it is your choice, and i hope to see these in september depending on whether tickets are available when i recieve my exam results.... and providing the results are decent (5 A-C's) is all i need :D

oh wow... im sure your probably of a higher education standard than me then dude...

also i kinda suck on most things that dont involve me sitting around a chillaxing... i complained about even havin to go to school for the exam... im a lazy so and so...

i will be lucky if i do manage my target and i wish you luck on the 8 A* and hope you do go... i shall make a point of seeking you out to deal you the death blow... lol jk... i failed 5 times last time... ima probs gonna fail again :P

Just realised that the back doesn't look too good, the camera is better than my eyes! So i've done a less zoomed out one, even under close scrutiny with the naked eye the model looks fine. http://i886.photobucket.com/albums/ac61/jamesterjlrb/DSC00793.jpg

It looks great so far, although I can't help wondering whether the process is too time-consuming to realistically become even a squad, let alone a whole army...

It's only going to be a squad, not an army as that would be ludicrously expensive as well, this squad will be almost 100 for 10 models, as for time, it's not too bad, i'm sure it will get quicker, as i start batch sculpting etc. I hope..........

UPDATE!

Lets see the Sister!

jamesterjlrb
22-10-2011, 10:12
It seems i made the fatal mistake of not subscribing to my own plog!!

I only realised this was still around after i got a reference from here to my Iron hands Plog! Link in sig!! (subtle plug over).

Just as a final update, i finished three of the sisters, but then had to give them the mother of all rushed paint jobs, they now look awful... :( So i don't really want to do photos. If i were to try them again i'd probably use the new DE plastics as a base, or wait for SOB plastics. Thanks to those who followed and asked, and sorry i didn't update more. However i will definitely be updating my iron hands plog more, and there's hopefully some nice pre heresy stuff in there (2nd subtle plug over).

Thanks,

Jamie
