Anyone else planning on taking their shooting units in units of 14 come 8th. I am think 2 rows of 7 will be ready nice. 14 shots a turn with a pretty small frontage. For both my dwarfs and my empire this is what I think I am going to do from now on.

Yeah but I think with cheaper shooters like Peasent Archers, Arrer Boyz and Goblins we will see them in units of 30 to throw out 25 shots a turn.

I'm planning on putting my DE crossbowmen in 5x2 so I can keep them fairly mobile. I'm going to consider upping it to 12 or 14 depending on how my experiences with 8th ed go.

I'd say that 14 is a definite possibility, but I'm not sure really that those extra 4 shots are going to do much. I mean, with half points as VP gone, and units bulking up, they will really just go to knocking off rank bonus to deny steadfast or cripple a support unit. I think that 10 shots is plenty enough for that. Plus, then you have the smaller footprint since you now can't be within 1" of your own units either.

I was a fan of 8x2 Crossbowmen last edition, and my Glade Guard always ran in units of 12+ so I don't see this being a huge change for me. Not having to rely on hills so much is the only thing that really changes.
