I just want to check if my understanding of how Oathstone + horde rule works.
if I have a horde of 60 using an oathstone, is the following diagram the correct allocation of attacks?

ffffffffff
sffffffffs
ssffffffss
ssrrrrrrss
srrrrrrrrs
rrrrrrrrrr

so that front get's 24 attacks, rear gets 24 attacks and the 2 sides get only 6?

Which side are you attacked from?

There was a quick discussion over at Bugman's on this. I think it was decided that front and rear would get horde, but flanks would only get the "fight in 2 ranks" unless they too were 10 across.

I would tend to agree with the thought that you count the side that you are engaged on as the "front" in this instance, so the sides only get the 1 rank of supportive attacks, where the "rear" and "front" of the "stoners" would get 2 ranks of supportive attacks via the horde rule.

This is actually covered in the 1.1 Dwarf FAQ up now, which states that any facing of 10 or more counts as a horde and is entitled to claim an extra rank; how you allocate all those "inner" ranks is up to you, of course.
