Okay, so I've been looking at starting a new Chaos army with the introduction of 8th ed and Im gonna start with the batallion box and a few bits. After mulling over which patron to choose (and trust me its been alot of mulling) I decided on none..... not a chaos undecided force..... but a legion dedicated to The Renegade God, The Lost, The Outcast..... MALAL!

I'll copy the fluff below but for now this is my list [pretty standard-ish, operate the Champion alone using warhounds to screen, warhounds screen the warriors also]

Exalted Champion - Daemonic steed, Collar of Khorne [trophy], Mark of Tzeentch [purly for the +1 ward save ofc any follower of Malal would put to slaughter any who bear the mark of a chaos god], Shield, Stream of Corruption, Favour of Malal (Favour of the Gods), Flail [just incase he is needed to smash a chariot etc] - 229

5 Chaos Knights - Full command - 250

5 Chaos warhounds - 30

5 Chaos warhounds - 30

20 Marauders - Full command, Light armour, Shields - 140

10 Chaos warriors - Full command, Additional hand weapons - 190

Chaos warshrine - 130

Total = 999pts and all i need is the Battalion, Lord and i reckon im going for the standard Corpse Cart conversion for the warshrine.

IMPORTANT - THIS FLUFF BOTH ROCKS AND ROLLS - READ ONLY IF YOU HAVE A SPARE PAIR OF CLEAN PANTS AT HAND

Malal is a renegade Chaos God who appeared in early editions of Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40,000. Also known as "The Outcast God", "The Lost God" and "The Renegade God", Malal was the embodiment of Chaos' indiscriminate tendency toward destruction, even of itself and its own agents. The nature of Malal's powers is parasitic, as the Renegade God grows in power when the other Chaos Powers do.

There is a name whispered quietly and with fear even by the most depraved, the most evil, and the least sane of the worshippers of Chaos. That name is Malal, the Renegade God of Chaos. Any man who dares look within the unholy black pages of The Great Book of Despair, that foul tome held sacred by worshippers of Chaos, would find the following words: "...and he that went before now came last, and that which was white and black and all direction was thrown against itself. Grown mightily indignant at the words of the Gods, Malal did turn his heart against them and flee into the chambers of space . . . And no man looked to Malal then, save those that serve that which they hate, who smile upon their misfortune, and who bear no love save for the damned. At such times as a warrior's heart turns to Malal, all Gods of Chaos grow fearful, and the laughter of the Outcast God fills the tomb of space . . ."
In eons past Malal was cast out from the bosom of Chaos by the other Gods, or else abandoned them of his own volition, no one is sure which. In any case, Malal's relationship to the other Gods of Chaos is a strange one. All Gods of Chaos pursue purposes that are wholly their own, yet only Malal occupies a position so resolutely parasitic upon his own unfathomable creed.To be a follower of Malal is to be a Chaotic warrior bent upon shedding the blood of other Chaotic creatures. As such, Malal is both feared and hated by the other Chaos Gods. Malal's worshippers, too, are loathed by other Chaotics; they are outcasts beloved by neither the friends nor enemies of Chaos, dependent upon the least whim of their patron deity. Few men worship such a God; fewer still live long in his service. The bonds that tie master and servant ever drain upon the soul of the warrior, and it is a rare man that can loosen the bonds of Malal once forged.

I really like that idea! I've always been a fan of Malal, although I was never sure what kind of paint scheme to use if he was ever created... Definitely do this though.

You also had the best typo ever. When you said Chaos Undecided, I had to laugh. I'm pretty sure you meant "Chaos Undivided," but the idea of a bunch of 'hipster' existentialists, sitting around in an eternal state of daemonic ennui gave me a chuckle. "From the great coffee shop they rose, heads adorned with the beanies of their chosen god, listening to the damning wails of panic at the disco!"

ROFL

Its wjust what I like to call Chaos undivided XD no typo..... for a change. Amazing analogy mate, I may have wee'd a little reading that ^^

Yeah, I'm struggling for colour ideas.... going to experiment with black gloss armour with the extremities highlighted up to ice blue to give it a glowing obsidian look [similar to the way GW studio did Archaon's armour only more... er..... glow... glowy :D] and skin tones from shadow grey undercoats up to a space wolf grey final highlight {i say experiment.... I'm testing out the colourscheme on some spare imp guard XD}

***ACTUALLY I JUST DUG THIS UP....agh caps

"Kaleb Daark's armour is black, bearing the motif of Malal as decoration. This takes the form of a skull, half black and half white. The same colour scheme is repeated on his shield. Kaleb himself is pale, a result of the constant strain of his relationship with Malal. His hair is very pale so that it appears almost white."

so I will go for the obsidian look, pale skin and white hair..... this skull could end up looking alot like a jing jang if Im not careful :D

BC Roar is lame and you'll never use it. Use the Breath Weapon gift instead (+2D6 attacks in combat is brilliant... Especially in a challenge).

Also, be individual... Don't use the Corpse Cart. Buy the Arcane Ruins and some Flaggies and make it a bunch of enslaved cultists of other gods dragging (ie they're chained to it) along a Shrine of Malal or a desecrated shrine of another god. Maybe chuck in a daemon corpse or two if you've got some handy...

It was a toss up between the two, but I forgot all about its CC ability, Cheers Paraelix, I may have overlooked that one

Also i was going to use the carriage of the corpse cart pulled by two warrior champion sorts [ditch the deadbodies and wraith on someone who wants them] and have a tormented daemon chained between the spikes of the side walls {the idea being that the daemons hatred for its captors is unwittingly feeding Malal's power - *see quote} and a shrine built up where the wraith is meant to sit [maybe even a bound daemon compliments of the Daemonhunters range, Hmmm...]

"Malal's powers come from the struggle of a single (relatively) powerless figure trying to fight a larger oppressor. Every slave that plots against his master, every worker that hates his boss, every peasant who looks with anger upon the places of the rich, every man who cries out to the uncaring gods about his placement in life feeds more power to Malal."

Ok, that idea fits a bit better... I've just seen so many people take a cart with a warrior on the back, wolves at the front, and still drowning in corpses... Gets a little old.

I'm still planning to utilise my concept, though may end up working it's way into a Delf army as a Cauldron... As a pillaged Obelisk of the Gods who my General has ransacked for his own purposes... What can I say... He's a godhater.

true, i understand. but I'm hoping to create something individual. Really I'll only be using the frame, wheels, yolk and side walls and looking at the daemon host, I think i'm onto a winner without any heavy duty conversion :D

I reckon your idea would be a good counts-as cauldron'o'blood for a none khainite army.... especially a god hater.

I'll be sure to post pics of my progress once they arrive

I think it'd be cool to greenstuff chains onto a Flamer for your corpse cart conversion. They already look like they're struggling, and it's always nice to watch flamers getting beat up on.

I think everyone would like to punch a flamer XD

Attached is a pic of a radical Inquisitor I'm using to practice/experiment the colour scheme I'll be using. The fur was rushed and looks a bit pap [nothing I cant fix] and now I'v got the knack for chequers just need practice. It's not a great picture but I've run out of natural light ;)

As you can see, black gloss armour with blue glowing edges;
White hair/furs;
Black & white chequered trims and banners
Pale skin tones ranging from shadow grey to spacewolf grey

I'm gonna do a whole renegade retinue too for more practice before I get stuck into the real thing.

Not to be fussy or anything, you might want to move this into random musings, or even a project log.

But the model looks really nice as of so far
