Trying another 2k VC list and trying to avoid the caster Lord in favour of a Combat Lord and caster Vamp (Master of Black Arts caddy) set up.

Struggling to find the optimum kit for the Lord...any suggestions.

Basic layout for list (will define numbers etc once Lord sorted)

Wight King - BSB
Vamp - MoBA, Flayed Hauberk (bunker)

30 skeletons - FC, warbanner
20 ish Ghouls
20 ish Ghouls

20 ish Grave Guard - FC, GW, Banner of Barrows

Varghulf
Black Coach

What would be the ideal set up for the Vampire Lord to make him an uber killy monster?
Would sit in the GG with Wight King.
Caster Vamp would nestle in the back of the skellie unit (6x5 set up)

Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved.

On foot then with GG.

Avatar (heavy+shield)
Infinite Hatred, for re-rolls
Red Furry, for extra attacks

Either Ogre Blade (+2str) or Sword of Strife (+2A)
Crown of the Damned, 4+ ward with stupid but re-rolls from BSB
and your left with 25 pts

Dragonhelm, +1 to your armor sv and 2+ward vs flaming attacks
and The other trickster Shard, everyone in contact re-rolls ward saves.

I suggest more attacks then the extra str, he is already 5 which is enough.
He has 6 str5 with re-rolls and any wounds are extra attacks.
He has a nice 3+ armor and 4+ ward to survive. If u use the Drake banner dont give him a ward since u can only take one of the 2.
He can chop light troops like butter, heavy armored ones with shields get a 6+ armor and 6+ parry ward which they re-roll.

Thanks for that advice.
I agree about the extra attacks over extra strength.
Dont think Ill squeeze the Drakenhoff Banner in to 2000 pts ( deffo in larger games) so the Ward save will be essential.

Cheers, Ill look to see how the list unfolds and post ASAP

Plan: LORD + BSB sit in GG, 2x MOBA VAMPS sit at back of skellie units raising raising raising, GHOULS sit wherever needed guarding either back or 1 flank, VARG and COACH on either flank. CORPSE CARTS snuggle up close behind the skellies

Comments please.

Cheers in advance

I'll just comment on 2500 list:

I'd recommend putting the Flayed Hauberk on your Lord, and just leave the MotBA Vampire naked, since you'll likely want to avoid getting those into combat anyway. This would also allow you to swap AoD for Lord of the Dead, in order to potentially raise the Skellies slightly bigger; I find myself losing Skeletons a lot faster now that the opponent has an extra rank of attacks, so raising them slightly above 30 could seem like a good idea.

I also think you should consider a ward save for the BSB, maybe the generic 4+ ward, since he's very likely to be targeted by both sniping spells and CC attacks. Regarding the Lord, I think +2 S is better than +2 A, since it makes him more reliable against targets with high Toughness and/or good saves, and if you encounter anything that's T3 with crappy saves, you'll likely murder them anyway:D

Have you considered swapping one Balefire for a Lodestone? Since you'll likely be throwing tons of dice at raising every turn, I believe it would be a good investment. You could always throw a Dispel Scroll and/or Black Periapt into the list if you want the option of more magic defence.

EDIT: How do you plan on casting with the MotBA Vampires? Just 1-dicing IoN and risk wasting their extra dice, or are you going for 2-dice casts?
