With the Medusa campaign looming on the horizon and the release of the new Tau dex soon I decided it was time to dust down my old Tau force from when they were first released for a bit of a spruce up ready for the summer, hopefully posting it here will encourage me to make that deadline (hopefully)
This is all still WIP as I need to finish or base alot of the minis.

Well first off I started by playing around with color schemes and settled on this one, I wanted to use some colours I've not used before so Purple and Turqoise it was.

Here you can see some of the new scheme Firewarriors compared with the old ones

new and old Kroot. Alot of my armies are green (Nurgle, lizardmen, dark angels...) so I wanted a break from that. As my oponents LaTD army was based on a desert guard unit that went rouge and we used a desert themed gaming table, I decided I wanted to make my Kroot look like they were picked because they had adapted to desert life, basicly the Kroot equivilant of a Tusken Raider

The Ethereal is a recent buy after seeing the new ones so he didnt have the same layer of paint on top of him so thankfully i could retain most of the detail. The chap next to him will be an honour guard.

Also I decided to give my Tau grey skin rather then blue, basicly I pefered them with grey skin

you painting on the new ones is alot better than on the old ones.

I like the scheme, but I think it would look better if you toned down the turquoise quite abit. At the moment its to bright.
ALso, some extreem highlights on the edges of the armour, done in purplish pink would make the plates stand out more, but dont make em to pink!

Oh my god...that is the exact way I'm painting my tau! except i'm being lazy and painting their guns silver.

I take it you undercoated in black?

I like the Honour guard's hat. Although I despise the new Ethereal models. They forgot their diamond shaped bone forehead thingie!

I love the hat on the retainer guy. Makes me want to jump in the air and shout AKUUUUUU!!! Anywho... The scheme is cool and original, at least ive never seen any purple tau.

Are you getting any FW crisis suits? Those things almost convinced me to collect tau (no small feat i assure you).

Sorry still no updates yet but I'll reply to the posts (thanks very much)

Yes I always undercoat in black unless its fleshy areas

I hope to get some of the FW battlesuits (as much as I would love to have all the battlesuits in the army as FW it aint gonna be pretty on the wallet if i do so)

Thanks to all the suggestions hopefully I'll post something soon with ur suggestions taken into account
