Now, this is a pretty exciting one, for me.

For a start, I've been really keen to get my hands on some Infinity minis for ages. But, more importantly, I'm painting these guys in a joint project between myself (representing the Precinct Omega Hobbycast (http://precinctomega.podbean.com)) and Wiggles and the guys at the Tabletop Hooligans podcast (http://tabletophooligans.com).

Wiggles got two started sets of Infinity minis from Corvus Belli (http://www.corvusbelli.com) in order to playtest and review the games for the podcast and they decided they wanted to give the minis away as a prize. So they got in touch with me.

I thought it was a great idea and, in return for coming on board as co-sponsor of the competition, I agreed to paint the minis for free.

So, anyway, I'll be giving these pretty much my all. Here's a quick pic to show progress on Day One:

Nice camo on the third one.
Few people do camo at this scale, at least good camo.

Here's this morning's progress (less the really boring stuff):

All of these are still WIP to one extent or another.

Really excellent stuff, especially the Ariadnians(?)

Almost makes me want to ditch my Haqqislamites ;)

One thing; your bases really let down your paintjobs. I'm not really sure what you could do to improve them, maybe different types of grass/foliage? Scattered rubbish?

Keep it up though, really nice blending and colour choice. I'll certainly be using them as a reference when I start my own Ariadna

I tend not to mess about with bases when it comes to playing pieces. I like them to be as generic as possible, hence the urban/ash wastes finish and dead grass: should help them fit in to anything from a winter table to a lava table and everything in between.

I'd love to have the time in my schedule to do some of these fancy high-tech bases that I've seen around the place, but I'm doing these gratis and having paying work waiting for my attention.

I cover camouflage in some detail in the latest episode of the Precinct Omega Hobbycast (http://precinctomega.podbean.com).

Right.

These were supposed to be all completely finished, now. But as I was editing the photos I realized that I hadn't done the Light Kazak's hair. Dammit.

I also experimented with a different camera set-up to get these photos. I'm not really happy with how they turned out, so I'll revert to my previous set-up for the next shots. OK?

Here's today's significant output, a Yu jing Kempeitai:

What is a Kempeitai, by the way? I assume he's supposed to be some sort of officer/hero. Is that about right?

VERY nice so far!

And it is always a treat to see INFINITY armies being worked on...

What else are you planning on fielding/painting?

precinctomega

As described in the OP, nothing.

I'm painting these for the Tabletop Hooligans, and they will be given away as a prize in a competition advertised on their podcast and on my own.

Kemeptai (http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity_ENG/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=344:kempeitai&catid=40:yu-jing&Itemid=149). They're agents of the Japanese separatist elements in the Yu Jing military. In a Japanese-only force, they can be the force commander or a 2iC. There's even a mercenary option to allow other forces to use them against Yu Jing Imperial forces.

The name itself comes from the Japanese military police/political officer unit from WW2.

I agree with you about the bases. To be honest, I'd have dulled down that static grass even more - it pops out too much IMO.

@Grisnik - Red?? I know I'm colour blind, but I'm almost certain there's no red on the Tank Hunter...

Dao Fei, done:

I think he means the rusting effects on the gun. (or he could be talking about something else entirely)

Great work on these. Hope the contest goes well (and I can figure out how to enter).

If you want to win these, just subscribe to the Tabletop Hooligans podcast through iTunes. They'll be reviewing the game just as soon as I send their minis back, and then they'll decide what form the competition will take.

I'll probably echo the competition on the Precinct Omega Hobbycast.

Yeah I was talking about the rust effects.. comes out red on my monitor at work here.. looks good whatever it is and wondering how you achieved that effect?

It's Dark Flesh, which is, I'll admit, a bit ruddy in finish. I applied it with a small bit of sponge (a technique described in a recent episode of the Precinct Omega Hobbycast, coincidentally!).

and here's the finished Ariadna team all together:

Just got to varnish them and the job's a good 'un. Package up and off to the Tabletop Hooligans for them to play and review Infinity. Keep your ears peeled!
