Hey guys, I am looking for an alternative model to the Tau Piranha. I really dislike the current model. I need to to come close to taking up the same area that the current model does, but if it looks awesome enough I can work around this.

Well, the Tetra from forgeworld is a little small but could probably pass and is a totally awesome model. You'd have to do something to explain the drones though.

Other than that, No, I can't think of anything that doesn't require extensive conversion.

Are you limited to GW products or will 3rd party figs suffice?

This is what google had to offer:

The King Buggy might be a bit big for a Piranha. One of the trikes would probably work though.

I think that Soul Dagger is ten levels of awesome, if a little small. The Karman stuff is really nice, and can be picked up pretty cheaply online these days, but feels a little too "retro" to me to work effectively for the Tau in terms of look.

I love the whole Karman line from AT-43. <blue, cigar smoking gorillas XD > but definately doesn't fit Tau, maybe I could use them for as a vehicle for a historical version of the Tau.

I agree with you 110% on the Soul dagger impala and I may pick a couple up for bits. Those panels on the back are giving me a couple ideas.

I think the Gorgon might just fit the bill. Little worried about size. I don't know how big the mini used for comparison actually is. I like it cause it kinda looks like a drone which makes it seem like the same design philosophy was used to make both.

Probably too large but who knows, I always thought this sucker looked pretty cool.

yea it looks huge. I like how it looks, but edges look a little too soft, fat<?>, on the toy version.

The Grymm Hoverbike (http://www.hasslefreeminiatures.co.uk/wip.php?wip=135&arr=35#foo) from Heresy looks like it would be about the right size once it is ready.

The miniature pictured next to Alpha Forge's Gorgon is 28mm, so make of that what you will.

This may also be of some help if you are looking to build an unconventional Tau army. http://advancedtautactica.com/viewtopic.php?t=1008

@Logarithm Udgaur: hmm, that first link has promise. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Not really wanting to replace my whole army <....is that Vor: Shards!? Wow.> I am just not a big fan of the Piranha. not sure what it is but it just bugs me.

I so want one of those giant walkers <SAW> at the bottom....
