So apparently in the skaven faq they ruled that Queek, who normally wounds dwarfs on a 2+ with his magic weapon, but gets plus 1 to wound in a challenge, will auto wound. Does ANYTHING else in Warhammer Autowound when a dice would be rolled? As far as I can tell the "roll to wound" step is still in that order of attacks, right?

This seemed to not fit with how the rules have been. A roll of 1 to wound always fails I thought.

Also, as an aside, nuked his storm vermin unit with shooting on turn six, str 5/10 grudgethrower right on his head, direct hit, rolled a 1 to wound, he is jerks. I still won the game though.

If you read the Skaven codex, it says right there you can not combine the +1 against dwarves, as he already hits on a 2+ versus them.

Karl Franz with Ghal Maraz autowounds too. And ignores armor, and does D3 wounds... but that's the ancestral relic that the entire game is literally named after.

Holy Smokes, you are right! The FAQ states that he can autowound o.O
But only when he normally wounds on a 2, not through his Anti-Dwarf rule. But with Wither...

I don't care much since he's a Special Character, but i don't think he is very bonkers. A unit of Chaos Warriors kills both him and his unit! ^^

Yeah! He is a special character that can't blast the entire army of your adversary alone! He obviously sucks.

A unit of chaos warriors will have hard time against his elite-stormvermin. Believe me, seen it, played it, hurt stuff with it.

Yeah, this seems to be a tempest in a teapot. Queek autowounds if he's in a challenge against someone with T2 or T1. If you have a toughness 1 or toughness 2 character that you let get into a challenge with Queek, you deserve for it to happen.

The OP's issue is clearly resolved - it doesn't apply against dwarfs (in fact, even a toughness 1 or 2 dwarf will only be wounded on a 2+).

Also to be clear: there is no rule that an unmodified 1 always fails to wound.

The rules for rolling to wound in both the shooting and close combat sections of the rulebook lack the former "remember a roll of 1 always fails... blah blah blah" that is still found in the armour save rules and the rules for rolling to hit.

So any model, with sufficient modifiers, perhaps through magic weaponry and spells such as Flaming Sword of Rhuin, will autowound. Not just Queek.
