Heya all,

I played WH, Space Hulk and Blood Bowl back in the day (back when they had zoats and fluff was important!) I was young, and it kept me out of trouble (and pocket money to get into more trouble).

I was advised that I needed a hobby, so I restarted. A bit of Space Hulk, and Dark Elves. Well, nowadays I actually have a wife. Said spouse is actually curious about playing Woodies or Lizzies. But.

She REEEEEEEEEAAAAALLLLLLYYYY wants Amazons. As far as I knew, Amazons had been Dogs of War models. I recall them in Blood Bowl, and I found one or 2 in Mordheim- but are they available? Would they attach to a L-Men list?

If you can find the appropriate models you can proxy them as pretty much anything, but AFAIK there are currently no units/ rules around for them in WFB.

These might be helpful:

'Handmaidens of the Gods' in White Dwarf 307, pg.32-5
Amazon background. rules for Amazon Serpent Priestess (Dogs of War unit), and new magic lore.

'Mistresses of the Jungle' in White Dwarf 308, pg.44-5
Background and rules for Anakonda's Amazons (Dogs of War unit)

'Converted to the Cause' in White Dwarf 308, pg.46-7
Amazon conversions for Serpent Priestess, spearwomen, Totem Guardians and archers based on the Mordheim models.

GW still sell the Mordheim and Blood Bowl ranges:

There's also the original (unreleased except in Europe and test bins) Mordheim Amazons. But you can expect to pay through the nose for these as they are pretty rare.

I started an Hoplite themed Amazon army a while back using Amazons from Eureka Minis and Shadowforge minis.

Check out Shadowforge's fantasy range, 4 different Amazon tribes of Amazon. Ancient Egyptian, Ancient Greek, Norse and some fur clad barbarian women. Well worth a look at.
I use the High Elf rules as I thought the massive blocks of spear(wo)men would be a good way to represent the hoplite phalanx.

Tre's range has some excellent female warrior women - definitely worth a look- for example

The amazon rukles in WD 307/308 were really rules for using the mordheim models as a regiment of renoun (in 6th ed), and tied in to the lustria campaign. No reason you couldn't still use them as allies, although I'm not sure how the unique lore would measure up in 8th ed.

IMO you are much better off using amazon minis as proxies for another army. They would actually fit quite well in a jungle themed wood elf list (Serpent priestess = Spellsinger, armoured amazon models = eternal guard, Lightly armoured models with bows = glade guard; season with wood spirits and serve cold). Be warned though that you will have to buy several of the Mordheim warband sets (or haunt ebay) to get enough minis for a decent army.
