View Full Version : Terrain placement

In the new huge rule book, terrain placement is given two options: select from your collection or roll on the terrain chart. Seems kinda all or nothing.

Within my group we roll the number of terrain pieces and the player whose turn it is opts to select freely or roll on the chart and get some sort of interesting terrain and its attendant rule. It seems to do otherwise would ignore the terrain options of 8th edition or have terrain as too much of a factor in the game.

Any thoughts? What do you do?

Roll for everything every time, and enjoy the fact that the table is now part of the tactics.

WE've been rolling the d6 +4 but only choosing to roll for a few of them. We usually roll until we get something nifty and build the battlefield around that so it does not look goofy with all sorts of wierd terrain.

Also we try to make it so one of the forests is special and the rest are normal, we usually hedge odds based on how many forests are on the table.

Overall, we agreed a ghost mansion with some forests was cool, but a ghost mansion next to a quicksand pit near a huge pit of skulls was a bit lame.
