So I just now saw Avian's terrain generator and figured I'd try it out. Haven't gotten the chance to use it in a friendly game yet, but I really like the concept. Have any of you guys used it or used something similar? How has it worked for you?

Good work as usual, Avian.

For those of you who have never seen it, here's the link.

That's pretty nifty, but I think it should also be capable of staggering the grid so that the terrain in the edge-most squares is more towards the middle of the gaming board.

Well that's the thing: it allows you to use your imagination to a certain degree, shifting things slightly where need be.

Good idea that.

Cool. I'd like it to work on a 4x4 feet table as well...

How many terrain features would you like 4x4 tables to have? Between 2 (or 3, or 4?) and 6 (or 7, or 8?)?

Maybe 3, but probably 2. That's a considerably smaller table than normal.

It can be a range of numbers, just like the standard cards have between 5 and 10 features.

The terrain generator looks like Sudoku for Warhammer.

Well, if a normal table is 4x6 feet and is intended to contain 4+D6 pieces, then shouldn't a 4x4 table (2/3 the size of the normal table) contain 2/3 the amount of terrain?

So between 3-7 pieces, or so.

Yeah, probably I guess. I just wouldn't know as I don't play on anything less than 4x6 and often play on boards larger than 4x6.

I have added cards for 4x4 tables to the website article. They have 3 to 7 spots each and you use them with the normal selection cards. If there is any interest, I can produce some for 4x8 tables as well.

I can see why you'd say that. :D Making the placement cards is actually a sort of puzzle game, so it's not that different from Sudoku, I guess. And I quite like Sudoku.
