Hey all

I'm looking to build a chaplain for my BT list. He'd be sporting a power fist as opposed to a crozius.

All of the chaplain models that GW sells are metal blisters though. From what I can tell, most of them don't have removable arms.. which is not a huge deal, but I'd rather not start hacking a metal model up with a saw if I don't have to (this hasn't always worked out for me in the past ;) ). Anybody know of an appropriate chaplain model I could use?

Here you go (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440271a&prodId=prod1050248). Superb model. As you do not pay for the crozius replacing it is silly as you lose the option to chose power weapon or powerfist in combat.

Oh cool... I guess only Templar can do that? Because of how there wargear rules are worded? Sweet.

So, you'd just declare which weapon you are using at the beginning of the assault phase?

Yes. Pay the 1pt for a Bolt Pistol too, and you can choose either S8 I1 A3 or S4 I5 A4 :)

Captain: Chaplain, what have you learned today?
Chaplain: Never hug a Brother with my Powerfist switched on.... :cries:

Except for the fact that since the Chaplain has two different special attack types, he cannot gain the bonus for a 2nd close combat weapon.

It's the same curse that Calgar has, and is seemingly an oversight in the rules.

But at the very least you still get to shoot, then charge, then kill with either fast or slow attacks.

Still an awesome miniature.

So one wouldn't get an extra attack with the Crozius because of the bolt pistol?

correct. page 42 under two different special weapons. I have heard it argued both ways but that seems to be the general consensus.

You still get to shoot them prior to combat, which in a lot of cases might be preferable due to BS and Toughness and so on.

What possible part of that model is "superb" unless you mean superbly bad!

Take a plasma pistol then over a Bolt pistol, ap2 killing goodness. Not forgetting that BT get a lot of the old upgrades. Personally, I would go with the Holy Orb just to annoy anyone with a large group of 3+ saves, works wonders on PA of all types and no partials.

Screw that!
Go with a templar super chappy!
MoS- artificer armor, terminator honors, twin powerfists, adamantium cloak.

5 powerfist attacks standing still, 6 on the charge, 2+/4++ eternal warrior.
Nuff said.

Now that is tempting... I wish I had the points for it.

How about snapping this helmet up quick-sharp and incorporating it with parts from the SM commander kit to get the look you want?

EDIT: Jesus, it's gone now. :(
